[UPDATE - November 20th]
It was a long long struggle, but we believe we have finally solved the choppy MKV video playback issue! Users who participated in v1.9.10 BETA testing, have reported that MKV videos now play smoothly. This is not 100% confirmed yet, but you can test it yourself in the new v1.9.10 update (4D Movie Theater). This fix only works in the 4D Movie Theater at the moment.
If you try to play an MKV and it still stutters, try to restart the video a few times and see if it starts playing smoothly eventually. Please report in case this happens.
We look forward to everyone's feedback!
Update v1.9.9 makes CINEVEO easier to setup and more user-friendly
The new v1.9.9 updates makes CINEVEO ready to use, right out of the box. Users are no longer required to read a user manual or download video codecs from a website. The first time setup is much easier now and only takes a few seconds.
New features in v1.9.9
- It is no longer necessary to manually download a video codec pack from Github. The video codec pack is now included in CINEVEO.
- Starting the app for the first time, CINEVEO verifies if the user has the required video codecs installed. If not, CINEVEO will automatically install the video codecs for the user.
- The user is now asked to click the CINEVEO app window at start. This guarantees that keyboard controls will be responsive.
- The VR file browser has a new indicator showing the user which keyboard keys he can use to search for video files more quickly than via gaze selection.
- Added a "User Manual" button in the file browser interface (Tunnel) to access the online version of the CINEVEO User Manual from within the app.
- After starting CINEVEO, it is no longer necessary to manually re-center the view to make the blue play-area line disappear.
- Added enhancements to the CINEVEO user guide.

"5" Step Guide on how to use CINEVEO's Internet Cinema
To watch streaming video content (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.), CINEVEO has created the Internet Cinema. It features a fully functional web browser projected onto the cinema screen and social features such as multiplayer audience and chat room. This opens a wide range of possibilities! For example, you can share links to YouTube videos in the chat and then watch the videos together with other users. It’s even possible to play Flash or browser games together inside the VR Cinema.
HOW TO USE THE INTERNET CINEMA STEP BY STEP
Step #1: “LAUNCH” the Internet Cinema in the STEAM client. The CINEVEO app window will open on the desktop and you will see the 4D Movie Theater with a white cinema screen, as well as a white interface below it (That’s the chat). Wait around 5 to 10 seconds until the cinema screen has loaded the “Homepage Menu” and the interface below shows the “Chat Room”.
Step #2: The Internet Cinema uses the mouse and keyboard, just like a normal web browser. Move the mouse pointer on your desktop above the CINEVEO app window and center it on the cinema screen. The windows mouse pointer will turn into a yellow dot, which you can move around on the cinema screen and chat room interface underneath.
Step #3: The “Homepage Menu” serves as the address bar in a web browser. From here you can open websites and YouTube videos by typing or copy / pasting URLs into the “Website URL” and “YouTube Video URL” fields. You can also copy / paste URLs from a browser window on your desktop into the CINEVEO app window to make things easier. You can return to the “Homepage Menu” any time by pressing the [ F3 ] keyboard key.
Step #4: To open the “Chat Room Interface” look at the “Phone” located on the chair’s right armrest. In the chat you can talk to other users and do things like share and watch YouTube videos together. To watch a YouTube video, you should always copy / paste a YouTube video URL into the “YouTube Video URL field” on the “Homepage Menu”. This way the YouTube video will play in full screen HD.
Step #5: For more tips and tricks on how to use the Internet Cinema, check out the “Online User Guide”, which we always keep updating with new info, at the URL http://www.cineveovrcinema.com/vrbrowser_help.html

If videos don’t play in the Internet Cinema, you need to install the Firefox browser and install the Adobe Flash Player “with” Firefox.

Let's watch videos together! Join the Internet Cinema every day at 5pm (GMT).
Wouldn't it be cool to meet other CINEVEO user's to share and watch videos together? How about we try to make this happen?
Now that CINEVEO's Internet Cinema is upgraded with social features such as multiplayer audience and chat room, we are starting the "CINEVEO Video Meet-up Group"!
How does it work? Easy! All CINEVEO users are invited to join the Internet Cinema every day from 5pm to 6pm (GMT) to share and watch video clips on YouTube together and discuss them. The CINEVEO team will also be present!
If this is something you would like to participate in and have some ideas, please don't hesitate to share them.
CINEVEO's Internet Cinema v0.6 update adds new features and bug fixes
The Internet Cinema v0.6 update greatly improves the way you can chat with other users! The original chat room, which was located on the Internet Cinema's homepage, now has its own interface and runs continuously in the background. The new chat room interface can be opened by looking at the phone on the right armrest.
Now it is possible to chat with other users "while" you are watching videos together with them! You can also hear sounds when other users enter the chat room and post messages :)

CINEVEO bug fix #3 update for HTC Vive released!
Thanks to Vive user feedback, we have finally been able to fix the issue with the video player controls interface (phone) crashing. This crash occurs when you try to select the "Menu" button in this interface. Instead of crashing the interface, this button would normally take you back to the tunnel to access the playlist and file browser to select another video to play.
The latest update should fix this issue in all cinema themes.
Most of the major issues in the Vive version of CINEVEO should now be fixed :)
