Climbey

Update 8/21/2018

Main game:

  • Changed center menu into 2 categories: Input and Comfort. This helps reduce accidental button presses on it and declutters the interface a little.
  • Changed max players to 10 and added an option to change how many players are allowed in your server. Defaults to 8.
  • Made auto-transferred servers properly retain the information of the server they replaced.
  • Added the ability for server owners to change server options in-room.

Let me know if you encounter any weird bugs!

Update 7/23/2018

Main game:

  • Upgraded project to Unity 2018.1.6f1.
  • Added new Knuckles EV2 badge.
  • Fixed glitchy “hit” blur from upgrading to Unity 2018.
  • Fixed glitchy FOV reduction from upgrading to Unity 2018.
  • Fixed colliders randomly offsetting from where they should be from upgrading to Unity 2018.
  • Fixed cosmetics randomly offsetting from where they should be from upgrading to Unity 2018.
  • Fixed audio glitch in small and big mode from upgrading to Unity 2018.
  • Fixed kick/ban buttons not being associated to the right person for room creators.
  • Fixed profile button not being associated with the right SteamID.
  • Made joysticks on Touch controllers and Knuckles controllers do swype-based rotation instead of requiring a click in. This will be changed once the SteamVR beta becomes the main one and I switch everything to use the new input system's action-based mapping system.
  • Switched audio spatializer plugin from an Oculus one to Microsoft’s to negate a glitch in the audio if players got scaled up/down. The audio will sound a bit different and the volume of player voices might be higher.
  • Updated Climbey Demo to be more current, adding various bug fixes and changes, as the last build for that was from December 2016.

This update took a long time because of all the crazy bugs I encountered when upgrading Climbey to a newer version of Unity, so it has a lot of bug fixes in it and basically no new features, the next update will be a bit more substantial, my apologies.

Update 6/2/2018 - Summer update!

Been crazy warm here recently, a sure sign that Summer has started to come!

So this will be called the Summer update even though the Summer “season” doesn’t actually start until the end of the month.

Main game:

  • Overhauled player customization station, you can now select any costume added in past updates.
  • Made Favorites list for your radio show up when you first start it instead of only on the next menu opening or radio favorite.
  • Fixed bugs related to headphones blinking in and out of existence in Multiplayer.
  • Fixed FOV reduction comfort option visuals.
  • Reduced lag when opening the wrist menu in large levels. (Still present in some though.)
  • Fixed invisible names showing up in the player names list.
  • Added a collection of Sunglasses to choose from, compatible with any costume.
  • 5 New summer costumes.
  • Various other bug fixes.

This is a rather “big” update in that it covers a lot of different areas so let me know if there are any crazy bugs I missed.

Enjoy! :)

Update 4/28/2018

Main game:

  • Made room modifiers (infinite checkpoints, half gravity, etc.) affect single player as well, this will allow for speedruns with modifiers as well as just messing around with the options without needing to create a multiplayer room.
  • Improved reliability of checkpoint position set when hitting the checkpoint button.
  • Made the game call garbage collection during level loads to try to reduce mid-level lag.

Level editor:

  • Added cone shape.

Update 4/16/2018

Main game:

  • Added headphones to users listening to music.
  • Added favorites menu to favorite specific radio stations if you’ve found any cool ones you like.
  • Added the ability to pull an audio cable from your headphones and plug it into another player to get their current radio station.

Update 4/13/2018

Main game:

  • Fixed music player auto-skipping through local files.
  • Fixed media player play button not updating graphic properly.
  • Added title scrolling for longer radio and file names.
  • Fixed issue with Noitom Hi5 gloves just dropping you to the floor.

I have to apologize, I found out the external audio loading system in Unity doesn’t support MP3 file formats.
If you want to use your own music you’ll have to convert it to .wav or .ogg.

There’s a bunch of free batch audio converters out there to use for this though so I’m sure you’ll be able to figure it out even if you have a large music selection!

Update 4/12/2018

Main game:

  • Fixed lag that would happen when holding on to someone’s head and shaking your hand around. (I think.)
  • Added basic music player, it reads any .wav and .ogg files from a folder called “Music” in Climbey’s game directory. Other file formats will not be supported unless Unity adds support for them.
  • Added internet-based radio system to the media player, turn it on/off by hitting the "radio" button. It has 247 channels and will randomly select one every time you hit next.

Enjoy.

Update 4/6/2018

Main game:

  • Tweaked Vive Pro badge to be more different than the regular Vive badge.
  • Added new block type: Fading block. Fades away either if you stand on it or grab it or on a set timer, fade time is adjustable.

The fading block may need further tweaking in behaviour and looks but I wanted to get people making levels with it so I can figure out what to tweak first.

Update 4/4/2018

Main game:

  • Increased the resolution on most block textures and normal maps in preparation for the Vive Pro.
  • Minor bug fixes.

Update 3/31/2018

Main game:

  • Added Broken Easter Egg costume.
  • Added Easter Egg Pattern costume.
  • Added MovingMetal block: Like the other two moving blocks but Metal.
  • Added ZipClouds (Particles). Also synced in multiplayer.
  • Made hands snap to the center of a zipline when grabbing it.

Restart Steam and the update should download if it hasn't already.
