Online Multiplayer is here and we're so excited to share it with everyone! With our latest update you can play online against up to 4 of your friends (or strangers if you'd like!). Hop into the Online cannon from the Main Menu area to get started! You can create a Public game which anyone can join at anytime while you are playing, or you can create a Private game that is password protected for friends only.
One feature not included in this update is in-game Voice chat. It's something we're integrating into the build as we speak and we felt it more important to push out the online multiplayer core into your hands as soon as we could. Voice chat is planned for a future update.
We've also jammed several other new features and fixes into this update as shown below based on player feedback.
New Features
Online Multiplayer
Manual teleporting using the touchpad to move yourself around the hole freely
Global Steam Leaderboards
8 new Steam Achievements
A few of the holes have some small additions
Chinese language support
Countless general and edge case bug fixes
Lastly, the Course Editor is still in the works. Getting closer each day. We will keep you updated as it gets closer to release state.
Game Feature Clarifications - Single Player & Local Multiplayer
Hi everyone!
There has been some confusion over what features the game is shipping with, so I wanted to make it clear:
The game currently features 1 course of 18 holes with both Single Player, AND Local Multiplayer game modes. Buying the game right now will give you these features (some reviewers I believe are confused and don't think local multiplayer is included but it is).
Our planned free updates are Online (network) multiplayer, and a custom Course Editor (create/share/play other user tracks).
Online multiplayer will be automatically updated to your library when we push it in the next few weeks (it's so close to being done. We're doing a thorough QA pass on it now).
The Course Editor will be coming shortly after the Online Multiplayer launches. We do not have an ETA on that one yet but it's in a pretty good state and a lot of fun!
Thanks everyone!
Welcome to the clouds!
We're ecstatic to show everyone what we've been working on since last year! Developing for VR, and specifically the HTC Vive, has been an unforgettable adventure. We are so happy that everyone can start enjoying the magic of VR.
We put a lot of love into crafting something special here with Cloudlands : VR Minigolf and the team really crunched hard this past month to get the game polished and running on the minimum spec machines. Ask any of the other Vive devs and they'll tell you optimizing for VR is unlike any other optimization they've done.
One point of house keeping is we really wanted to push and release today with online multiplayer but it wasn't quite up to our high standards. For this reason, we've decided to hold it back a few more weeks while we really polish it and get the bugs out. It will be available very soon and we'll make another announcement once we push the online multiplayer additions into the next update.
Course editor is also in the works. We knew this would not be ready for launch, and have positioned it as more of a planned free update shortly after launch.
