Code 3 V0.11XX - Early Access Build Complete
We have, after years of hard work and struggle, finally hit the release we've been waiting for to introduce our community to an early version of Code 3. Version 0.1100.
Normally we'd hit you with the bullet points of what's been going on and what kind of changes we've made, but this update it seems a bit more appropriate to just talk it out as we're one week from launch, and we've got a few things to say to you all.
A lot of the work behind the scenes lately has been organizing, polishing, bug fixing, testing, testing, and more testing. To hit .1100 we wanted to make sure our content was playable across a number of differing PCs and put the game mechanics through vigorous testing. We also added a lot of the nice little touches that were absent throughout early building. Now, that isn't to say this isn't still a true Early Access release with many nasty little bugs and rough spots, however we have finally hit a point where we are comfortable showing the base game of Code 3 to our loyal community who have been rightfully asking "When is this coming out already?" or "Is this going to be another XXXX?".
With this release we believe we can finally offer our community an enjoyable experience while at the same time receiving the valuable input we've so desperately wanted to continue development in the proper direction.
To expand on the above testing, we have been able to successfully play to some degree on both Windows tablets and even 13 year old hardware! Though, to be fair, neither experience was nearly as good as a gaming PC!
We hope that everyone understands moving forward while we wish to offer the absolute best experience to our community at all times, Code 3 is meant to adapt, change, have bugs, go through growing pains, and have all the other associated benefits and pitfalls of a developing title.
It's our intention to take all feedback seriously and work on improving Code 3 systematically over time. It's taken a few years to get to this point, and it may take a few more to get to the finish line. Whatever it takes, we plan on working with you, our community, until the job's done. We hope you all give us your honest and critical input whether it's on social media, the Steam forums, our website, or Discord.
Finally, we want to thank all of our community members who have been a part of getting Code 3 to this long awaited Early Access release point. You know who you are and we do too! We have no producers, no advertisers, no big budgets, and no large teams. It's just us and you on a journey to make a fun police game. We know it's been a long time coming, but without support from community members like you this whole process becomes a lot more difficult and empty... so, thank you. Your support means more than you know.
We hope to see you all on June 16th and can't wait to hear what you all think!
Code 3 v0.1099 Update
Update Includes:
Tutorial level added to show basic controls/remapping.
Intro video added (it's skip-able but whyyy).
Level tweaks including some Easter eggs added.
Audio recordings are being added.
Script changes made for better performance.
UI and other minor graphics tweaks continue.
Multiple bug fixes.
We continue to work hard towards making the game as presentable and fun to our initial hardcore crowd who choose to begin building Code 3 with us starting June 16th at our Early Access Launch.
With the .1099 update we've added on a few quality of game changes.
First off we decided to create and add a tutorial level. A number of our fans have said they want to play Code 3 but aren't usual PC gamers. In order to help people understand both the mechanics of how Code 3 plays as well as the controls on PC (which can be mapped to a controller) we created the basic tutorial.
An intro video has also been rendered and added. We won't go into too many details before launch but launching straight to the main menu just seemed to boring!
Like we said last update, we continue to work on audio improvements and additions. We have our voice actors working hard on filling in placeholders to complete the basic functions of the gameplay. This should continue all the way up until and after launch.
As always we continue to identify bugs and issues and will address those as they come. We still plan on providing as much content as possible leading up to our EA launch. Keep in mind everything may not make it in beforehand, but growing the game with our community has been the plan all along.
With the .1099 update we're extremely close to providing a good base template for you all to judge on June 16th. And just to reiterate June 16th is a hard date now... so we hope to see you all then!
Thank you all for your continued support and we'll see you at the next update!
Code 3 v0.1097 Update
Update Includes:
All base levels have been implemented and are currently playable.
Scenario building will start to ramp up.
"Station" level has been added.
Bonus mode content has been greatly improved.
Some audio changes have been made.
UI and other minor graphics tweaks continue.
Multiple bug fixes and minor script improvements.
We continue to work hard towards making the game as presentable and fun to our initial hardcore crowd who choose to begin building Code 3 with us starting June 16th at our Early Access Launch.
With the .1097 update we have a few large and many minor adjustments which were made. First we're happy to announce all of the core levels which will be playable at launch have been implemented into the game! We now have much work to do with creating scenarios in these levels to play and will focus heavily on that nearing June.
Due to community feedback we have also built a new level which will grow and change throughout development simply called "Station". The station level may adapt in focus, however we have heard from a number of our followers they would like a place to hang out and get to mingle with police officers. This level will feature a number of officers and police station areas where interaction and day to day police life things can happen (we're still unsure about report writing simulation!).
We've kept one of the bonus modes secret for some time now, and while we'll still keep it a surprise until launch, we also want to report much work was done to improve it and we're now confident this mode can be expanded upon and enjoyed by those who um... enjoy that type of mode.
Finally we have started to put more focus on improve voice audio and scripts within the game. While scripts are constantly in progress, we are putting our voice actors to work and getting some higher quality audio placed in game.
As always we continue to identify bugs and issues and will address those as they come. From this point forward the goal will be to flesh out as much content as possible prior to launch so we can give you all the most to criticize and review to help us push forward in the best manner possible.
Thank you all for your continued support and we'll see you at the next update!
Code 3 v0.1096 Update
Update Includes:
Complete overhaul of the player UI HUD with graphical assets and a new layout.
Keymap is now fully customizable by the player both at the menu and in-game.
Keymaps save between sessions per customization but can be reset to default.
Early multi-controller support has been added along with controller keymapping.
Partner AI improvements in movement and control have been made.
Squad car light improvements and random spawning have been implemented.
Other minor UI and graphics tweaks.
Multiple bug fixes and various script improvements.
Moving towards our June 16th launch we have seen a need to revisit multiple areas of the game and make improvements prior to launch. This update features a host of fixes and additions to the game which should make the overall feel and gameplay much better. The major points have been the UI changes, keymapping, and controller support. Keymapping is fully functional with all controls being added to the list of customizable functions. This should save between levels, menus, and most importantly save between gaming sessions. Along with this we have added support for controllers of all types should you prefer to remap the controls and use a controller!
Although sequentially this update appears to be minor, a substantial amount of changes have occurred which affect all aspects of the game. As such, and as always, we expect bugs to be found and request you submit and bugs to us to be squashed in future updates.
Thank you all for being a part of this coming up to our EA launch and we hope to see everyone reading this come June!
Code 3 v0.1093 Sweeping bug fixes and quality of life improvements.
