The final two chapters are now released. We will balance and enhance the game over the next two weeks.

THE REFINERY IS HERE

2022-06-02 - Fifth content release for early access

The refinery chapter is part of todays release, so you can now reach the goal of the journey.

We will release another chapter at the end of next week, along with more audio.

WEEKLY RELEASE 0.21

2022-05-27 - Fourth content release for early access

We are releasing a new chapter with this weekly update, a trip back to the sewers, this time it's not about finding a way through for the heroes, but a way through for all of Repentance.
You will find the beginnings of short stories in certain chapters, I will leave it to you to figure out which.

Unfortunately this release will reset your saved progress :(

Expect to see more chapters released next Friday.

  • "Elle's rituals", quotes on the menu screen talking about our kickstarter backers in a cool way

CHANGE


  • Replaced the cutscene preceding chapter two, it is really nice :)
  • Background music now reacts to low hope
  • Comic book page layout now adapts to number of facets
  • Adapted the chapter overview so that it now only shows nine chapters


BUGFIX


  • Negative offense on character facets is no longer possible
  • Some events did not have sound effects or ambience
  • Facet stats only apply when event response allows it, but introduced in the last release
  • When a response was clicked the game would sometimes not allow facets time to return

WEEKLY RELEASE 0.20

2022-05-20 - Second content release for early access

Minus one chapter for this release, we have decided that chapter three is too "grindy" and the story we want to tell with it can be told in the following chapter. For that reason we have merged chapter three and four. We will still deliver nine chapters in the final release.

We've also prepared the code needed for more in chapter stories, so be ready for that in the coming releases.

Emanuele is working on some nice comic book inspired cutscenes, that will start coming out next Friday.

Also expect another chapter on Friday.

2022-05-13 - Second content release for early access

This update contains two new chapters, bringing the current version to a total of six. In the new chapters you will meet a new foe (and slaves).

We have also spend time preparing the backend for more story telling sequences of events. Expect to see such gameplay improvements in the coming releases.

2022-05-06 - First content release for early access

We have been listening to the feedback you guys gave us. You felt that there was a dominant strategy, to fix this we rebalanced some of the responses to avoid that one response feels superior. More balancing will come in the future as well. Some felt that the game does not reveal its strategy, to improve on this we made a how-to-play video that you can watch from the main menu.

  • Speech balloons, the characters are now talking about what is happening, it is something we will keep developing over time

  • Art - Response 'Ambush' picture

  • UI - removed 'depth' from in text icons, to make them easier to read

  • removed green borders from character facets
