There was a UI issue. If you couldn't do anything on the first scene (with the garage) you had to manually change the resolution.
It is a workaround hotfix, I'm not sure what caused the problem, but this might solve it for now.
I'm sorry about the inconvenience!
Managers & Offices - 0.9.7.10
Changelog
Changes - Managers & Offices Update is added - Interactive Tutorial is added - PP Optimization is automated (you won't pay for unused PPs, and also you always use first PPs coming from the cheapest factories and use them for the computers that give you the most profits) - Not only the Market, but the Testing button also checks if you already have 3 computers from the same design type. - There is a new approval window before selling a sites - From now on you can open hardware/computers/sites etc. in lists only by clicking on their name. Earlier it varied by list, which confused the players. - There is a remove button on the research queue - You could move some windows by grabbing them on their top and others on their body. From now on you can do that only by grabbing their top, and there is also a move icon indicating on the window that it is possible in the first place. - The move and help icons are gray from now on (indicating that they are not clickable, they are there only to hover over with a mouse) - You can see the actual game's difficulty level on the saving screen. - There is an extra cashflow button on the budget statistics screen, so you can see the cash flow and its hints as well (you can see the same window by hovering over your cashflow money indicator in the top right corner, but there the window disappears as soon as you move your cursor, so you cannot check the hints) - There is an extra Information button on the market list, so you can access here the Market Information window not only from the small round menu that appears when you click on a market) - The Pricing window has hints now too - I've renamed the "Upgrade" button on the site view to "Build" - There is a new "Expand More" helper bubble - ESC not only closes windows but opens the main menu and/or closes the main menu too - I've increased the color saturation on the wealth map mode, so you can easier decide which market is average or rich
Fixes - There was an issue with LP points and countries becoming communist - There was an issue that applied LP to countries you've just opened under given circumstances - There was a visibility issue for the name of the computer design type on the design chooser screen under given circumstances - On the Release Tab of computers the last day profit and lifetime profit fields were switched up - Some typo corrections - With some resolutions and UI multipliers, the windows were slightly out of sync with the curser when moved around. - Adding 2.5-inch FDD to the research queue didn't add the 3.5-inch bays to the queue automatically - Adding the Co-Processors did automatically add the 8088 processor (while it shouldn't) - SCSI made ATA obsolete, even tho SCSI is an inferior technology. - The hints on DPP and PP were the same - The sales graph was incorrectly showing how PC sales start increasing from 0 (with a straight line) - because the line started to rise from 1974 instead of starting from the last year when there were no PC (design) sales yet. - From the Dominance Statistics Window the bankrupted opponents were not removed automatically, only after reloading the game - The market list's last column showing the market's state was inconsistently using "Unused and Site" depending on the actual filters. - After starting a new game (but not restarting the game itself) the UI multipliers were reset. - The research bar was not automatically and immediately refreshed if you've added a new tech to the queue from the queue (instead of the research three) - When you changed the logistics points set to a market then the market list was not automatically refreshing the corresponding line in its list. - Selling sites was not always working - There was an error that made a warning message appear (about having 3 computers from the same design type) when it shouldn't have - If you are running the game on a more exotic resolution then the default UI multipliers were sometimes not fitting the screen well - Both the world map and office said “World map” when I hover over them - There was an error with LPs setting on China - You were able to add HDD capacity techs to SDD storages - While the game was loading you could hear the site's ocean sound - The technological singularity victory screen was potentially not updating your computer data on the victory screen properly. - There was an error with product marketing costs connected to LPs set on the map. You could avoid paying under given circumstances. - Small (population under 600k) markets generated no sales sometimes. - The player bonuses were not consistent as the logistics bonus was reducing your LP need for markets instead of making LPs cheaper for you in the sites. - You were able to open the market survey screen from the market list even when the button itself was non-interactive.

Announcing the “Managers and Offices” Major Update!
Hello Tycoons,
As the title says, I'm announcing the new update “Managers and Offices”. I've been working on its content for a very long time now and I know that you are really excited about it.
WHEN?
At the moment the tutorial and the balancing still need adjustments and the last 2 tasks I'm working on are not working properly, but at this point, I can set the release month. It will be in February. Before that with a group of players I will test it from my discord, to be sure that you will like it and it will work properly.
What"s gonna be new in the “Managers and Offices” update?
One of the biggest issues with previous versions was that the late game has less and less content or things to do. Partially this and the need for more PP, RP (and reducing the required number of sites) made it necessary to add a new mechanic to the game: the managers.
You will start in a garage with your partner. You and your partners are going to be your "first managers". The maximum number of managers is 7, and you can get new managers as you progress - limited by the current date. You cannot fire yourself and your partner, but in return, you can set your own attribute points, and you can freely select who your partner is.
The others on the other hand are hired on the fly and you randomly find the next candidates. Just like in similar games, you can give tasks to your managers on which they work for a given amount of time, and they cost a given amount of money, too. You have to be practical and strategic about what you spend time on and who you hire.
You can choose between "passive" and "active" tasks. Passive tasks can increase your RP, PP, LP, etc. while active tasks will let you get more fans, steal technology or find new games and software that you can pre-install on your operating system for your customers.
Offices?
To be honest, it is more of a visual element, than anything else. As you progress and time go, your office is going to become bigger and nicer. I wanted this because it helps you feel more like a CEO, helps you to immerse yourself into this world. The number of managers you can have depends on the year, and not on the office size. But you will see in your own office your own computers as your managers are using them.
Making the game a bit more immersive is one of my big goals, until version 1.0
No more Factory Babysitting
One of the biggest complaints in the past was that managing the DPP/PP ratio by altering the factory output one by one is very tedious. I agree with that, therefore I've changed the system in a way that you don't have to do it anymore. Basically, when you update your factory, you get a bigger maximum PP capacity, and when your DPP is lower than your PP, then your output is set accordingly - you are NOT WASTING MONEY on it anymore, you don't have to touch the sliders. When you set the sliders tho, then you are setting this maximum output, nothing else.
Better Tutorial
Another important change is that at this stage (getting closer to version 1.0) I will provide a better tutorial, which won't let you progress until you've done the basics and during that process, it will point with red arrows on the required buttons, etc. Leading your hand along the way. After you've completed the tutorial at least once, you can skip it. I know that it is something that many of you will appreciate. I couldn't make it happen until now because the game's development is already slow, and altering a tutorial like that, again and again, would have just made it even slower.
Notes
Guys, please understand that localizations can come only after all the features and texts are finalized in the game. So after the beta, but before leaving Early Access. Yet again because supporting languages would slow down the development even more. I just cannot afford it to happen. If you are interested in the details, just check the forums, please.
The "Offices and Managers" update could be a separate game from Computer Tycoon, but I'm not a supporter of paid DLCs and I've promised to follow the roadmap, our vision (The community and myself is what I'm addressing here), and make it happen as ONE game.
The work you will get in February is the result of a lot of time and effort. You should know that what you see was developed, painted over years now. Many of the graphics were planned and created back in 2018 (!). The offices/manager animations and its prototype was done I think in 2019 (!). It is taking a lot of time not only because I'm a solo developer, but because most of the changes have a complex effect on everything else you already have in the game, and the tasks often cannot be separated or prioritized in a way that I can just push out new releases on a weekly basis. In other words, it is a "deep" game, not a "wide" game.
I'm changing the most basic things in the game time after time, I'm not just adding a new avatar, skin for a character, a tweak, or enemy to an already finished system.
I'm really excited to see how you enjoy the update when it comes out, I'm VERY thankful for all the feedback and patience I've got from you over the years.
After This One?
After this update I will continue working on the next update that will add the diplomacy system (trading and making contacts with the other CEOs), the "CEO Stuffs" system which will let you buy a lot of cool stuff (did you want every a hoverboard?), the random events, and a lot of polish. The graphics and most of the texts are done already and I've put a lot of thought into these systems already.
After that, we will reach the beta and I will start working on the localization.
That's all folks!
THANK YOU again, my friends, Andris aka Progorion
VERSION 0.9.6.02h03
Hello Tycoons,
This version is a small update to solve two serious game-breaking bugs connected to exotic character sets. If you are from a country where you have your special alphabet (Turkey, Georgia, India, China, etc.) then it might have happened that you couldn't start/load games and that your research tree bugs with tech names.
I was finally able to track it down. Also, I have built a few graphics safety code pieces into the game as well.
I know that you are eagerly waiting for the next bigger update in which I will give you the managers and the offices plus a better tutorial. I also cannot wait to give it to you, but you will still have to wait for it a while.
Thank you for all your support, feedback, and patience guys, it means a lot! If you have reported any smaller bugs meanwhile, don't worry, I see them, and I put them on my to-do list/solve them, but now only in the bigger development version with the new features.
Have a very nice day friends, Andris aka Progorion
VERSION 0.9.6.02h02
Hi Tycoons,
I was able to hunt down another important bug, and I've also fixed a few other minor things. Here is the changelog:
There was a bug connected to tech category changes. (for example, I've changed a few techs having the “bus” category to “video bus” - these are used in the code to decide if something is new or obsolete) – which unfortunately caused various bugs in saved games where the tech still used to have the earlier category. When it happened, the upper right part of the info bar became frozen, while the timer/days were still going forward. (reported by Niels)
Two people reported during the past 2 months that the game started using a really small resolution in a window. When the game first starts it is Unity that handles resolution. I have no idea why it started the game with such low resolutions for them, but as a workaround now check the screen resolution from code, and if it is any smaller than 1024x768 then the game switches to that, so at least the window won't be as small that the player can't reach the settings menu to set it manually.
On the Hardware Type selector window the black backgrounds had messi borders. Fixed.
When you had “Remote Assistance” for your OS then the illustrations were not working correctly. Fixed
I've moved the site menu a bit down so that it doesn't hide the notification balls (partially) in the top left corner.
When the market share label hit 100% the label was still too small to show it in one line – so I've increased its size.
Thank you very much for the reports guys! Please when you send me something, always check the version number of your game and if there is an update on steam already or not because I get outdated reports and false-positive reports too often. It takes a lot of time to debug, so I should work from up-to-date information. I've got a couple of false positives connected to techs for example - concerning DIMM, RDRAM, or coolers, bearings (unfortunately I don't remember where and from whom I've got them to contact. I still have a few things to check/fix, but the game-breaking bugs had to be corrected asap.
Have a nice weekend guys! Have a lot of fun!
Your friend, Andris aka Progorion
VERSION 0.9.6.02h01
Hi Tycoons,
A game-breaking bug was reported and fixed, that's why I'm uploading this version. In the meantime, I'm still working on a bigger update.
If you've installed a site in a market that becomes communist later, then the market list didn't work anymore (after the country becomes communist). Obviously, it was an issue only on the historical map and you had to be unlucky, but still, it was serious. Also, the bug behind this might have caused problems elsewhere too, but no reports suggested it for now. Anyways, it is fixed.
The little pricing section on the computers list appear on top of other windows when you've opened other windows on top of the computer list and you've happened to select a line on the computer list still. Fixed.
Your friend, Andris aka Progorion
VERSION 0.9.6.02
Hi Tycoons,
Here is a new smaller update for Computer Tycoon.
Changelog:
- From now on, the market screen preselects home computers…
- From now on when you discover a new computer design, you will see a small window with an illustration, instead of just a message at the top. It looks better.
- On the Hardware Designer screens the tech list has a new label: “Obs.” Meaning obsolete. The techs which have a newer version such as 286 → 286 will show this label (386 shows “new'). This way when you clone a hardware part, you will see what techs should be replaced.
- Sometimes you didn't get any new hints for the marketing settings after one month of your computer being on the market. Fixed.
- When in a country there were no sold computers, but there was at least one player selling there (unsuccessfully), then he/she appeared as the dominant player, but on the market, details view the market share piechart showed nothing. From now on it will show the dominant player even without selling a single copy. (The dominant player when nobody is able to sell there is the human player by default, otherwise the first computer player).
- I've put hints on the marketing slider helpers.
- On the Computer Designer Screen the heat and noise labels on the bars were not working. Fixed.
- The tech compatibility window from now on is not using gray and black, but green and black labels, because some thought that grays means "inactivity" and it is a glitch. The question mark explained how it works, but they were not seen, unfortunately. Hopefully, the new colors will be better understood.
Have fun guys!
For a while now I won't upload smaller patches, because I will start integrating the new bigger features.
Your friend, Andris aka Progorion
VERSION 0.9.6.01 IS OUT NOW
Hello Tycoons,
Here is a new version of Computer Tycoon. I'm trying to pump out all these smaller tweaks/fixes/additions before jumping a big with the new bigger features. I hope you will like them!
The colored special tech nodes on the tree were hard to read because black letters blended into the background – from now on they are white.
When you were typing into an input field while you were on the research three, the tree was moving when you pressed WASD – Fixed
The Pricing Matrix didn't update itself for the Hardware parts when you were setting new base prices. Fixed
“Bug: when creating a hard drive, I'm allowed to select HDD Density 15MB and then also choose Magneto-Resistive Heads. The 2nd one increases maximum capacity to 100MB. If I select Magneto-Resistive Heads first, the option for HDD Density 15MB is removed from the list. Effectively, if I'm starting at the top and choosing all the technologies, I end up with an extra option that adds cost but doesn't offer any benefit.” Fixed
“Text correction: When creating a hard drive and not choosing an interface, the pop-up message says "You must choose an interface (SCSI, PATA, SATA, M2, LBDT, etc.) for this PC pHardware!" --the last word is misspelled with a "p" in the front.” Fixed
So far there was an additional apply button for the resolution changes in the settings. I've removed it and made it automatic because some didn't see the button and thought that he just can't change resolution...
After you changed the multiplier sliders of the screen size settings in the settings menu, the pop-ups in the game were out of position. Fixed
From now on, when you change resolution, the window scale multipliers will be reset to their default recommended values every time.
I've fixed default hardware name generation (this was not working, unfortunately)
I've replaced the image of the ordering line buttons (they are sharper), and I've put an “order” label next to them to indicate that actually they are there to order the list.
I've added tooltips for the market/site/unused filters on the market list
I've changed the color of selected techs on the hardware designer screen and the accessories list to green.
I've changed how things are highlighted on the hardware and computer list, to indicate that on the hardware list the name and the rest have different onclick effects.
In a previous release I've added a “new” label on the techs on the Hardware Designer Screens to indicate which techs are new and unused. From now on you also have a counter on the hardware part slots on the computer designer screen to indicate how many of these you will see on the hardware designer – so you don't have to start creating a new hardware part to be remembered how many new unused techs you have.
From now on saved games are ordered by date, not by name.
I've added a legend on the research tree to explain the different node colors (blue unlocks PC etc.)
I've fixed the hardware name generation – so you will have default names for them.

THANK YOU for all the help and feedback I’ve got, it means a LOT! Please if you like the game, don’t forget to leave a review, too! It might help a bit with my game's terrible visibility in the store.

VERSION 0.9.6.0h02
Hi Tycoons,
It is another smaller bug/hotfix patch, mostly because the text rendering system caused issues in v0.9.6.0. Thank you very much for all the reports, the patience, and the support guys!
The company name didn't appear on the world map screen's right modal window.
The research tree showed incorrect RP and day numbers on a random basis – but when it happened all tech nodes were affected. Fixed.
If you've added techs on the research queue by using the “Add” button, then the list didn't refresh automatically after the click, only after something else triggered the refresh (such as a day passing). Fixed! But guys, just double-click on the list instead of using the Add button.
I've removed the X (close) button from the logistic points distributor window, because it gave a false impression that if you use it, then the changes on the slider won't be permanent.
If you use custom screen multipliers and you've hovered over any pie charts, then the value pop-up window was rapidly flashing. Fixed.
The sell site button didn't work – Fixed
On the Graphics Hardware Designer screen the multiplier slider showed a percent symbol (which is wrong). Fixed.
The button to delete saved games didn't work. Fixed
Researched Overdrive processor, did not appear as an option when designing CPUs. Fixed – but from now on it will appear on MOBOs instead of CPUs as it should have belonged there anyway.
I've altered the overclock tech to increase the base frequency of CPUs, instead of only adding to feature – just read the new tech description and this change will make more sense.
I've corrected a few text problems reported by the community on the Steam forums (thank you guys!)
