Conqueror's Tales: Davālpā
Conqueror’s Blade: Scorpio and its many assassin-inspired Units bring ancient Persian factions to life; but what of the legends of the era? Iranian mythology speaks of one such creature—-the Davālpā.
Also known as Himantopus, Old Man of the Sea, and many other names, a davālpā is an amphibious cryptid who tricks unsuspecting victims into giving it a ride… forever.
Etymology
The etymology of the word ‘davālpā’ combines two parts of the description of the monster. Flexible legs (or in his case, tentacles) are pā, and the way they resemble leather straps is davāl (meaning hide or leather), thus creating the word for this mysterious and malevolent creature of the sea.
Origins
Persian sources first refer to davālpā in the Šāh-nāma, an epic poem written by the Persian poet Ferdowsi in 1010 AD. In the story of Kayanid king Kaykāvūs’ expedition to Māzandarān, the davālpā are described as a race of strong horsemen with “legs of davāl”.
Curious then, how the myth transformed into one of a creature with limp legs. That version of the story appears to have been fabricated by seafarers and travellers during the Islamic period. The adventures of a sailor known as Walīd b. Moslem tell the tale of discovering anthropoid creatures with limp legs, who when approached, trapped him with their tail and claws, forcing the man to carry them while they picked fruit from trees. This went on until the traveller got the creature drunk, causing it to release him from its clutches.
These days, Iranian cartoonists and satirists use the image of the davālpā to represent greedy institutions.
Modus Operandi
A davālpā is amphibious, and therefore usually found by the sea in cliffs and caves. They often disguise themselves as invalids or beggars to lure their victims into “helping” them. They can also be found on uncharted islands in the Indian Ocean, where they sit and wait for potential rides to show up.
The davālpā is fuelled purely by greed and takes delight in tricking unsuspecting humans into carrying them until they die of fatigue. They will dupe sailors and travellers into carrying them by posing as infirm, at which time they use their leathery leg-like tentacles to grip onto the human, enslaving them. The human will then have to carry the davālpā on their shoulders or back until they succumb to exhaustion. Controlling their new human slave, the creature will steer it until it grows bored, or the victim dies.
Just as the Chain Dart & Scimitar can hook into victims and control them in Conqueror’s Blade, so too can a davālpā sink its hooks into humans.
The most famous story of a davālpā is that of the Old Man of the Sea. Sinbad the Sailor, unfortunately, met this monster and was forced to do its bidding until he took advantage o the hedonistic nature of a davālpā, and encouraged it to drink itself into a stupor, whereupon it loosened its grip, allowing Sinbad to escape.

Weapon Class Guide: Chain Dart & Scimitar
As the thirteenth weapon class to arrive in Conqueror’s Blade, the Chain Dart & Scimitar is the weapon of choice for true assassins. Use the hook to pull enemies towards you to deliver lethal blows, and cut down enemies with your slashing scimitar.
Take on the Chain Dart & Scimitar challenges to unlock it via the Seasonal Menu (F5).
Rewards
Progress through the Chain Dart & Scimtar Challenges and be rewarded for your efforts!
Stage 1: Unlock the Weapon Class and receive 1x Greater Scroll of Glory.
Stage 2: Pick up another Greater Scroll of Glory and unlock the Trap Prey Ultimate Skill.
Stage 3: Receive the Epic Rarity Fast Venom Chain Dart & Scimitar
Stage 4: Recieve the Scarlet Nemesis Hero Attire.
Weapon Skills
The Chain Dart & Scimitar has a variety of skills that make it a stealthy option for the battlefield.
Stinging Strike: Consume stamina and throw darts at the fan-shaped area in front, causing damage
Leap and Slash: Jump up and slash downward with the Scimitar, causing high damage.
Scorpion’s Snare: Jump forward, grab the first enemy you encounter, turn to the back of the target and attack it, causing damage
Sandwalk: Throw a smoke bomb on the spot, causing small damage and a slowing effect to surrounding enemies, and jump back a short distance
Ultimate Skills
The Chain Dart & Scimitar boasts only one Ultimate Skill, but it is by far the most lethal of them all.
Trap Prey: The Trap Prey Ultimate Skill enables you to take control of your enemy. Throw a chain at enemy Units or Heroes and hook them to pull yourself closer to the target, enabling you to deal close-range damage. This skill can also be used while on your mount for drive-by devastation.
Armour
Light Armour works well with the Chain Dart & Scimitar, especially the Sand Scorpion Set, which is made specifically for the weapon and adds special bonuses which include Skill damage boosts and reduced Ultimate Skill cooldown.
Runes
Equip brand-new Runes to your Chain Dart & Scimitar to equip bonuses to help you achieve victory.
Pirouz: Using Leap and Slash, Sandstorm, or Stinging Strike will reduce the cooldown of Scorpion's Snare.
Poshtab: Scorpion's Snare damage is increased and the enemy's slashing defence is reduced.
Puskan: Sandstorm throws gravel during escape, reducing the accuracy of Ranged Units.

All or Nothing
The All or Nothing limited-time event is back from December 8 to December 22… with a twist! The following Siege maps are in rotation for All or Nothing, so get ready to enter the fray, and earn Stars to exchange for Treasure Troves:

Every battle won will net you 1 Star, but losing even one battle means losing all the Stars you have earned so far. Exchange them while you can or risk it all for more Stars! 3 Stars are needed to exchange for a Golden Trove, so be careful!
Exchange your Stars for Iron, Silver, and Gold Treasure Troves via the Event Page. Your first Golden Trove is guaranteed to include the Scorpio Weapons Cache, meaning you can take your pick of the following Weapon Skins:
Heartstopper Short Bow
Royal Peacock Nodachi
Shekargar Longsword & Shield
Treasure Troves can include Treatises, Silver Keys, Gold Dust, Artillery, Protection Charms, and much more. Silver Eagles and Gold Eagles can also lie inside the Troves, which can be exchanged for incredible rewards!
Victory Horns are not available during this event. However, Protection Charms are in effect. Consuming a Protection Charm will prevent the loss of Stars if you are defeated. Protection Charms can also be purchased from the in-game Store for added protection.
Unit Sharing Event
From December 8 until December 22, you can share Units with members of your House (or Cohort) to boost your battles, even in All or Nothing!
How It Works
Nobles of Houses or Veteran Cohort members can share their max-level Units with a shared Unit pool. Once there are enough Units in the pool, other members of your House/Cohort can choose Units from the pool in the deployment interface when joining Matchmaking Battles (shared Units will retain their Level, Attribute Points, and Doctrines).
Players who lend their Units to others will also receive rewards in return for their generosity!
Each player can borrow a limited number of Units each day. When entering a matchmaking battle, you will get a choice among three random Units from the pool (with priority on higher-tiered ones). There is no limit to the number of times a Unit can be borrowed, but these Units are still affected by leadership caps and the Seasonal Seal.
After a Unit is used by a player, the Unit will be marked and other players will not receive this Unit as part of randomisation while in the deployment interface. When all Units in the shared pool are marked, the marking status will be reset and all Units will become random.
Requirements
Members with the rank of Noble within their House or Veteran within the Imperial Restorationists can put their maximum-levelled Units in the Unit Sharing pool (up to a maximum of three), which can be borrowed by fellow players in their House/Cohort.
Rewards
When the Shared Unit is borrowed by other players and those players obtain a rating of C or above in a battle, the player who added the Unit to the Sharing pool will receive a Benefactor's Bounty (which includes 3x Silver Eagles and 1x Gold Eagle). You can earn this reward up to three times a day!
