FREE DEMO of Consortium: The Tower now available...

Greetings everyone,

We have just released a playable demo for Consortium: The Tower on Steam. (go to the store page linked below and click "download demo".)

http://store.steampowered.com/app/626250/Consortium_The_Tower/

Included is the entire rooftop of the Churchill Tower. In a real-time first person environment you can fight, sneak, talk and explore (or any combination thereof).

We’re inviting anyone out there who might be interested in a hard-core, pure single-player role-playing experience that is nonlinear and highly replayable to check out our demo.

Anyone who purchases Consortium: The Tower or backs us on Fig
and gains full access to the latest Alpha, you’ll be able to load any saved universe you created in the demo and continue your adventure seamlessly.

Note that a key benefit of backing us on Fig means that you'll get access to a locked backer only Discord channel and Forum page.

You can also import saved universes from CONSORTIUM into the demo if you have them, but they are not necessary to enjoy the experience.

We promise you - you have never played a game like The Tower before...even if you have played CONSORTIUM.

Check it out and see for yourselves!

We hope you all enjoy,

-- Gregory and the entire iDGi crew

Consortium: The Tower NOW AVAILABLE

Greetings Seekers!

If you have completed CONSORTIUM and want to seamlessly continue your story, now you can...

http://store.steampowered.com/app/626250/Consortium_The_Tower/
Import your saves into The Tower and continue your adventure!

Alternatively, you can ALSO still back us on Fig (for just 5$ more), and get access to a closed Backer Only forum and Discord channel in addition to a Steam key.

The Tower will retail for approximately $34.99 U.S when it is completed.

Production update

Over the course of the last few months, we've been working closely with all of our "earliest access" backers that have chosen to get involved in production. We've received superb testing reports, of both the written and video variety, and it has drastically improved our ability to focus on all of the most important things that need doing. We've also chatted extensively with players about the game on our Discord channel and Forums.

We're officially in about a mid-alpha stage.

Our most recent achievement involves getting our save/load system to work. It is still a relatively young system and is definitely not free of bugs, but it IS fully functional now and it allows players to make significant progress through the game.

Next Stages

For the next few months, we will be largely in a process of either working on future content, or polishing/fixing/improving content that is contained within the Early Access Alpha 1.0.

We will leave you today with our brand new gameplay trailer...enjoy!!

That’s about it for right now - it’s back to the development caves for us!

New and free CONSORTIUM level and a contest!

Greetings Seekers,

We have just over one week remaining for our crowdfunding effort for Consortium: The Tower!

As part of our pre-production process for The Tower, we have developed a new virtual trainer level for CONSORTIUM. The map itself is designed as an internal tool for us to use moving forward as we develop levels for Consortium: The Tower. It makes great use of super jumping and vertical/open spaces, which the Churchill Tower will be full of.

It will be included, completely free, as part of the next patch for CONSORTIUM (v1.26). However, it is available right now for users who either opt into the beta here on Steam or download the free patch HERE for the DRM free version.

A contest of skill...

So, as an incentive to grab the map and play right now, we have come up with a rather simple but fun contest:

Who in the world can achieve the highest score in the Civilian Gauntlet?

To participate, simply grab the map (see instructions below) and start playing. When you feel like you have achieved a score that you want to enter into the contest:

  1. Take a screenshot that clearly shows your final score on screen.
  2. Post the raw screenshot to Twitter, Facebook or your social network of choice along with the hashtag #TheTowerContest and a link directly to the Consortium: The Tower Fig campaign.
  3. That’s it!

The contest ends the moment that the Fig campaign ends.

Whoever achieves the highest score will receive a huge poster for Consortium: The Tower, signed by The Tower team.

Instructions for how to play Civilian Gauntlet

  1. Opt into the beta: Right click on CONSORTIUM in your library. Click “Properties”. Click the BETAS tab. Click the drop down, and select “vt_civdefense_gauntlet”.
  2. Wait for the game to update, then run CONSORTIUM. The version of the game should show as “V1.25_CGB Master Edition”.
  3. In the main menu, bring up the developer console (default key is ~). If it doesn’t work, make sure the developer console is enabled first: click OPTIONS - Keyboard/Mouse - set Allow Developer Console to “Enabled”.
  4. In the developer console, simply type “map vt_civdefense_gauntlet” (no quotes) and hit ENTER.

Consortium: The Tower has been fully funded on Fig!

Hello Seekers,

We wanted to drop in and let you all in on some good news: Our Fig Campaign for Consortium: The Tower has hit its funding goal with 28 days left on the clock! We're still coming to terms with the speed at which this campaign is moving thus far, but we have plenty of things planned over the next few weeks as we strive to tear into some stretch goals.

We’d like to take a moment and thank all the players of CONSORTIUM, and those who continue to follow our announcements and forum here on Steam. Your support over the years means a great deal to us, and we’d love it if you’d continue this journey towards The Tower with us. Hitting our funding means The Tower is a certainty, but we still need some help on reaching our stretch goals. We invite you to come take a look at our campaign, and if it’s up your alley, help us reach those goals!

For all those who have already supported us on Kickstarter or Fig, a massive thank you for putting your trust in us.

Here is some new press for you guys to help us share today's awesome milestone with the world:

GameRant

OnlySP - includes link to an extensive interview!

Also a brief note about CONSORTIUM Game One: Once the campaign is over and we're settling into production of The Tower, we will also be spending some time finishing up some things with CONSORTIUM - a Mac build remains a priority for us to finally get done. CONSORTIUM V1.26 will also be completed and will include various bug fixes.

That's about it for now!

Sincerely,

-- iDGi and the Consortium team

Consortium: The Tower is now on Fig!

Hello Seekers,

We've been pretty busy over here gathering support and preparing for our upcoming crowdfunding continuation, and are proud to announce that we are now live on Fig!

To put it simply, this campaign must be successful in order for us to be able to make Consortium: The Tower.

We would like to note that Fig allows for folks to actually invest in us, and Greg Zeschuk, Founder of Bioware, has invested in us! For more on this, check out this awesome Gamespot article.

New iDGi Community Forum

We'd also like to link our recently opened iDGi Public Forum - check it out, and don't forget to drop a line and say hi. We monitor this forum very closely and will happily answer any questions or concerns you may have about any aspect of our games or campaign.

New Twitch channel

And last but not least, we have just started up a new Twitch channelthat we'll be utilizing throughout the campaign to host various Twitch streams for different fun things. We’ll be kicking it off with a Stream of Gregory doing some Consortium Game One level design in Hammer (This is the Source Engine Utility that we used to create Consortium). He’ll also be answering questions about level design, game design and the Consortium franchise.

The broadcast will be on Thursday, April 7th at 1:00pm PST, so tune in for some insights into game development!

Suppose that's it for now - we hope to see you all over at Fig!

Issues with CONSORTIUM and The Tower campaign

Greetings everyone:

Issues with CONSORTIUM?

Welcome to all of our new players! We realize that while many of you have just discovered and enjoyed our game, some of you are having technical problems. To put it simply, the free weekend has more than doubled our player base and has exposed issues we did not know existed.

This huge influx of players has people doing all sorts of things that no one has done before, and given all the different ways to play our game, some new bugs are being found. We've tried our best to keep up with bugs as they were found in the past, and have been issuing patches over the past two years since the game's release.

Please know this: while we are extremely busy trying to secure our ability to make a direct sequel through a Kickstarter campaign for Consortium: The Tower , please know that we're taking note of ALL the problems being reported to us and will get to fixing them as soon as humanly possible. We will continue to support and issue patches to CONSORTIUM even if our campaign were to be unsuccessful.

The Tower campaign...

For those among you that are already backers and want to help us spread the word about The Tower campaign, we have put together a pack of images that you can use for your profile, if you wish, to help tell the world that you're doing your part to help us realize this game.

For those of you who have some doubts about our ability to make The Tower, perhaps based on issues you had with Consortium:

Making CONSORTIUM with the Source engine was an admittedly arduous affair. The fact that its locale was confined to the inside of an aircraft, while it allowed us to actually make the game with the budget we had, also severely limited us and caused all sorts of A.I. and collision issues. We also made the mistake of replacing the stock Portal 2 renderer with one that was never completely finished and this continues to cause us no end of pain. We will never make that mistake again. With our new game, we will be using the Unreal 4 engine exactly as it is intended to be used.

By bringing all our established gameplay mechanics and content into a more traditional video-game environment...in The Tower's case a sprawling, open, sand-box futuristic skyscraper...we are poised to create a truly awesome immersive simulation that goes FAR beyond what we accomplished in CONSORTIUM. Largely because of not being confined to an aircraft, the game will be at least 3 times longer, in terms of average play length.

We invite you all to check out what we're pitching, if you haven't already and consider giving us a chance to put all of the tough lessons we learned in making CONSORTIUM to good use.

Consider allowing us to make for you one hell of an immersive and powerful single-player sci-fi immersive simulation!
