v 1.04 released!

Hi everyone,

here is an update:
Separate Options from Cheats in the Conversation Tab
Add an option to enable/disable the tutorial guide
Add an option for long range wands: fixed (range: 7) and variable (range: INT/3, min 4, max 10)
Add an option to enable/disable the ability manager
Abilty manager: can remove/exchange/add unit abilities freely (max:3). Is considered as a Cheat,
since you can keep and store abilities between the different teams. Or you can remove abilities for
increased Challenge!
Tutorial screenshots guide slightly updated
Swap the order of the Bonus Maps
Brax members will have the wings abilities when joining using the cheat in walk difficulty mode
Maximum number of items in convoy increased from 150 to 300

v1.03 released!

Hi everyone,

here is a minor update:
Add the letter S to show unit sortie
Add weapon triangle option : Normal, double, without, reverse, reverse double
Fixed: some enemies have the correct stats but incorrect Lv in the last two bonus map
(only affect xp gain and the wall ability activation rate so it is a minor mistake)
Lilith can learn the Steal ability by using the cheats/options
It has lot of restriction though (see the game guide calcultation for more details)
software updated as usual

Bug fix: conflict between two plugins. Removed one of the two plugins
(effective damage won't be displayed in blue anymore but
the red and green arrows showing advantage will always be displayed)

Some news...

Hi everyone,

I have contacted Horacio Crux (Sir Wolfram) again to work on the game script/story. This time, he will make his own version of the script (expand, arrange, or modify the original script). He is an excellent writer so he has my full trust and I will give him complete freedom. Once he is done, there will be two version of the script and I will add an option to toggle between the original or arranged script. I feel that the story/game script is kind of the weakest point of my game, with a great one Clarent Saga could reach new height! Beware that it may take a while though.

v1.02 released and some comments

Hi everyone,

here is a minor update and some comments. The changes:

- Damage preview plugin from MarkyJoe added,
The battle forecast will preview how much damage each unit may take.
- changed old magic effects to new ones from the magic effects DLC,
- Changed some icon tomes (all are differents now).

Comments: I am fully satisfied with my game (in every aspect). Some people may find some "faults" and "shortcomings" in my game. But I think I have achieved the "purest" strategy game I can deliver. For example the minimal story and script is a deliberate choice (because I acknowledge I am not a good writer and storyteller) to keep it straightforward. Every game design choice I have made is to suit my own taste in gaming (and I have played nearly a thousand games) but I have still tried my best to make it accessible to the largest number of people. Of course, I could add more complexity in my game (enemies reinforcement, fog of war, weather, weapon experience level, reaver weapons, breakable weapons, more skills, more weapon type, stealing, etc.) but either I don't like these features or I simply don't find these fun. I think the result is a fun game that people can enjoy, but as an avid gamer I also acknowledge that it will never reach the height of a masterpiece.

v1.01 released!

Hi everyone,

here is another update!
Cheats have been reworked , renamed Cheat to Cheat/option:

add an option to choose between 1, 2 or hybrid RNG to calculate hit rate.
add an option to choose between simple or complex fomula to calculate hit rate of offensive wand.
can set reverse mode or not (enemies strike first).
can recruit member of Brax during bonus maps.
The icon will now reflect if the switch is turn on or off.

I have playtested once in normal+ difficulty with cheats on. Everything should work very well. I haven't tested hardest difficulty (Challenge) with reverse mode but it should be beatable.

Release of the DLCs

Hi everyone!

The DLC replicate a "pay-what-you-liked" model as different tiers of purchase: if you decide to support the game, you can buy any single DLC tier (or multiple ones) to choose the amount you want to pay.

I must insist: the game is and will remain free! You can now decide if this game is worth your time or money (and in this case which amount). I would already be really happy if you give the game a try or play it! The game script in pdf format has also been released as a free DLC!

I may stream my game on Twitch but this won't be right now.

v1.00 released and other news - the end?

Hi everyone,

I am happy to say the final version v1.00 is released. Since the last update, there are minor corrections so this isn't really a big new. The other news are more interesting:

- I officially retire from gamemaking. I will still work on Clarent Saga if I ever feel the need and still be active on this forum. I may even stream me playing my game on Twitch someday!
- The game is and will remain free but I will add DLC with no content if you want to support me financially . Even without paying, I would be already happy if you give this game a try.
- The game script in PDF format will be released as a free DLC.
- Finally the data on the game guide has been updated with the new version.

It was a very long journey and I am a little sad to see the end of this project. I don't plan on making more game, still I sincerely hope that people will enjoy and like this game.

v 0.99A is released!

Hi everyone,

I am happy to release this new version. I decided to go with the name 0.99A because I haven't fully checked all the game (I have playtested in 7 difficulties! I miss one).
There are lots of changes, so here we go:
Chapter 12 Fix : Zeke will always defeat Aaron
Add more music
Change controls fast forward
Added cache plugin
Changed Samuel faceset
Changed Druk face and battle motion color
Athena sword and Aaron spear cannot critical
Added critical weapons
Changed some characters and enemies weapon
Blossom and ??? has the fury (Ex) ability
Ex abilities added in challenge mode
Berserker armor and Dark shield added to some bosses
Slightly changed exp formula
Arthur's vocation in part 3 is wyvern ranger
Add Ami personal wand
Add challenge mode
Remove LV cap
Add more branching vocation
Add Artemis lance, Meteor sword
Change attack speed formula
Add a generation system
Add small exploration
Add and reworked some cheats
revert some default setting (Direct input instead of Xinput and Hardware full screen instead of Software fullscreen)

I still need to thoroughly check all the small details, but this is the final version. Future update will be minor adjustement to correct bugs and check the script. Once I am done with the game, I plan to release DLC (story script, full game guide and a making of) so stay tuned!

Final version is on the way!

Hi everyone,

I am glad to say the final version 1.00 is near completion! I need to recheck and retest everything before release! The truth is I have reached the limit of what I can do to improve the game. By no mean it is a perfect game but I find it quite enjoyable and fun. I also want to release some paid DLC :
- game script + exclusive short stories of characters for 2$
- A fully detailed game guide for 4$ (detailing everything about the gameplay) for 4$
- A pdf detailing all the process of making the game, discussing the prototype, ideas and the software used for 4$

I will propose a bundle at 50% promotion so you can grab everything for 5$!

I plan to make a free manual and a new (and last) trailer.

So everything may come to an end. I am grateful to Sir Wolfram for his help but I no longer work with him as he has other project of his own. I wish him the best.
