This February brings Damnation City of Death a new patch including improved skill system and more sunlight. Check detailed notes below.

Sunlight & Color correction



Damnation City of Death now supports sunray effect to bring more life and light into the city.The applied color correction transforms the colors for making the city appear more natural.



Skills



Game now features a brand new skills system.
We are still working on some more skills to have them playable in the game.

Featured skills in the system:

SURVIVAL

Rations - Getting hungry and thirsty takes longer
Healthy drinks - Drink any liquid to return small amount of lost blood
Toughness - Receive less damage from hits
Regeneration - Lost blood regenerates faster

STEALTH

Breakfall - Fall higher without taking damage
Sneak - Enemies won’t hear you sneaking behind them
Surprise attack - Kill an enemy swiftly if it hasn’t noticed you

FIGHTING

Sniper - Headshot does more damage



World



City now has more props and landmarks for greater variety. Enemies are now placed more closer to player for more action. World is now more optimized. Added new house floors for more variation.

Menu



Login screen now properly messages if game doesn’t find Steam, when logging in.
Account password can be changed in main menu.
Menu chat is now updated.

Misc



  • New fall animation for player.
  • New fall damage detection system.
  • Fixed ground not having collision in some parts of the city.
  • Fixed old save files messing with new player character rendering it invisible.
  • Enemies now will stop chasing player if they can’t find player.
  • Enemy AI updated for improved player detection system.
  • Day lighting is now slightly brighter.
  • Fixed NPC characters disappearing without a reason from NPC base.
  • Now server options always show the correct difficulty setting.
  • Fixed old backpack disappearing when replacing one backpack with another.

New Year Patch 0.76



The bigger patch we've been preparing for some time for Damnation City Of Death is now released with numerous improvements to the game. Happy New Year and gaming!

New Terrain

In this patch you'll see that the city layout has been changed. The city is now more varying with realistic roads and traffic lights. The New terrain adds height alterations to the world where the old world had only flat ground. This system gives us the needed flexibility to do even more alterations in the future. New terrain also features more optimization for greater detail in the city.



New Player Characters

The Game now features new player characters that have replaced the old placeholder soldier character. These characters have a new more dynamic animation system with new animations.

New system allows player to vault, you can get easier into buildings though windows for example. To vault through a window, run towards it and jump.

Player characters can also be customized by selecting the look, skin color and clothes.




Supply drops

Supply planes now fly over the city and they randomly drop supply boxes for players. These boxes contain random highly valuable loot.



Crafting & Smelting

You can now craft ammo for your guns in the crafting menu. You'll need scrap or fine metal to craft, depending on the ammo type.

Guns can be smelted into metal in oven.

Oven gives hints if you can smelt something from the items in it.

Weapons

  • You can now aim with the guns by clicking right mouse button.
  • We've added a reloading system & animation for the shotgun.
  • M107 rifle is now properly textured.
  • Ammo handling has been made more realistic: Guns have ammo in them and clip management now works properly.




UI

  • New character menu for player and mission status.
  • New messages when night is coming and when player picks an item up.
  • Inventory can now be scrolled smoothly.
  • Extra rows in inventory are now hidden when not having a backpack.
  • Chat messages are visible longer when sent.
  • New graphic for pistol clip.


Saving

Inventory & player status are now saved into their own mapsaves.

Equipment ammunition is now saved.

Miscellaneous updates

  • Sky now fades smoothly from night to day and vice versa.
  • Backpack can now be seen in main menu.
  • Monsters now aggro correctly to targets: Monsters prioritize their attack on a character that's more accessible for them.
  • Ghost now attacks if someone shoots near it.
  • Ghost can be driven away with campfires.
  • Player now coughs when in a gas cloud taking damage.
  • Multiple wounds do now less damage.
  • Added a temporary system for controller navigation in main menu.
  • Rain updated to be more natural.
  • Added LOD:s for high detail items.
  • Backpack changing now drops items that wont fit in the new backpack.
  • Players receive experience from surviving the night.
  • Players are informed that night is coming.
  • Updated various metal textures.

  • Large zombie corpses have correct texture on client players.

Update 0.74

Gas clouds
Gas clouds are now dynamicly scaled. They are now more of them. World edges have been updated to have permanent deadly gas.

Weapons don't now disappear when swapping them with full inventory.
AK-47 reload animation updated.
Zombie death sounds updated.
Fixed achievement problem, which gave all players the first achievement.
Offline servers can now be created without internet.
Large zombies don't fall anymore.
Enemies no longer try to go upper floor than the target is.

New update version 0.72


New Zombies
Replaced the old zombie with brand new zombies.
There are now also slower zombies, which will behave differently than normal zombies.

Enemy AI
Navigation improved for all enemies. New hit and fall mechanims for them. Enemies now react to the force of your weapon. Enemies are now correctly dispositioned around the city and now thus it provides more action.



New Buildings
a Shopping mall and a warehouse have been added.

Boss Alien
Many updates to navigation of the alien. It now haves more attacks and they also work better. It can't attack through walls anymore.

Pig
Model fixed and AI updated.

Brightness can now be set in options.
Optimizations for many components.

Hot Fix 0.73 for NPC and house issues.

Player gun animations updated.
Player crouch animations are now correctly synced.
Player walk sounds now work properly.
Added a player menu pistol animation.
Gun swapping is now animated and it takes time.

Enemy
Enemies now stay less far away from player.
Giant alien fix for being invisible after unity 5 upgrade.
Large zombies now have hit animations.
Enemy target finding improved.

NPC
NPC characters now have positional audio.
Fixed npc shooting sync.
Updated npc movement sync.

NPC Base
Added a new NPC Base, where you can meet friendly NPC:s and do missions for them. Added many more NPC characters.


Updated houses
Updated house floors and made new ones to bring more variation in them.

Added more textures and updated old ones.
Fixed zombie animations.
Fixed dropping equipment multiplying.
Players last spot is now saved.
Corpses now have correct materials.

Game update version 0.66



Ported the game to Unity 5.
Features of Unity 5 and other optimizations have improved the performance of the game. The physics engine in Unity 5 works differently than in 4, so we had to make many changes to how things behave with the environment. Some things might still need updating.

Remade enemy AI for large zombies / monsters and updated normal zombies. Now the large zombies are much better in navigation through the environment.



Replaced the last old house type to a brand new one. Now all basic houses have the new generation system.



Remade all stairs with new models and collisions, because of the new physics engine and for better details.

Updated many textures including things like walls.
Updated ground with new textures & collision.
Sidewalk textures are now scaled properly.

Fixed inventory problems with backpack.
Crafting requirement checking is now properly updated after crafting an object.
Crafting now takes time and is shown with an indicator.
Added an empty clip sound.
Bullets fly faster.
Fixed interacting delay and added a clear interaction indicator.
Smoothed day and night transition.
