Community Event - The Spirit of Gobboween



Greetings Adventurers!

There has been strange reports of goblin activity on the shard. Some how these strange and frightening creatures found their way into Gaia! Its time to experience Gabboween on the Shard! Get ready to discover new creatures and unlock new Schemas for Gobboween-exclusive armor, weapons, and more! Be sure to check it out when Gobboween begins in Archos and Gaia starting October 27th!



Submission Guidelines

For this event, we’d like Adventurers to submit to us a screenshot that best captures the spirit of Gobboween! Maybe a goblin with a jack-o-lantern upon their head, or a giant pumpkin patch? Feel free to get creative and add text to your screeen shots! The more festive, the better! Get in the spirit of Gobboween and show us what you’ve got!

Oct. 26 Test Build Patch Update

Greetings Adventurers!

We will be pushing an update to the test build at 1:00 am PDT on Oct. 26, and we estimate to release it live at 1:00 am PDT on Oct. 27.

Please keep an eye out for your items and tames. The actual update time for official servers will be notified in the in-game message.

Key fixes


● Fixed an issue where lagging and rubber-banding occur after players cast spells.

● Fixed an issue where Kasha blinks into the underground or other props, thus unable to get out.

● Fixed an issue where Elite Sandworm and Arakkonen the Devourer corpses are not searchable for loot.

● Fixed an issue where house member swallowed by a Giant Bufo belonging to the house will become invincible.

● Fixed an issue where quest voiceover plays every time character incarnates or de-incarnates.


Optimization


Tips on Items that are not allowed in each Map: In Knowledge screen, inventory, and hotbar, players will now clearly see tips indicating if this item is allowed to use in either Shard of Faith, or the Sacred Path. We will adjust accordingly following players feedback and balance the gameplay experience in both maps.

Harvesting Efficiency: Dharkhu is known to be a adept climber, with a pair of forelimps that look like pickaxes used to harvest resource. Hence, we adjusted Dharkhu’s harvesting efficiency, now it should be able to obtain more yield from trees, boulders, and ores especially.

Farming Optimization: We’ve learned about players’ feedback about how time-consuming it is to craft Fertilizer, and we are making adjustment progressively, first, by allowing Meat to decay faster in Compost Bin, which would help expedite the process of crafting Fertilizer.

Taming and Feeding: to better distinguish Wooden Feeding Trough and Stone Feeding Trough, we created a new model for Stone Feeding Trough,

- Wooden Feeding Trough looks like a temporary feeding tray used when you are taming creatures in the wild. It can be easily destroyed.

- Stone Feeding Trough is more solid and durable, especially inside your bases. Feed placed inside can be preserved for a longer time as well.

● To make it easier to craft manor structures, we will implement the below changes:

- Greatly reduce the weight for Silica Powder and Charcoal, so that characters can carry more with them.

- Fire Essence will now last 3600 seconds when used as fuel in Refining Forge.

DLC has a lot of weapons and spells that require crafting material generated in the Refining Forge, so we lower its cost.

Gobboween Event



Gobboween is coming, for both Shard of Faith and Sacred Path. The event will last for two weeks. While we are going full speed to fix issues in the Sacred Path and Shard of Faith, we would still like to bring some festive joy into Dark and Light.

● City barrels will be replaced by pumpkins, and Goblin Candy has been added to the pumpkin drop table.

● Demon Treasure will now drop Candy, Blunderbuss, Candy Bullet and Silver Bullet. In rare cases, you can also get blueprints of quality
Blunderbuss. The damage Silver Bullet does on dark creatures is also buffed.

● Goblin models are replaced with Pumpkin Goblin. Pumpkin Goblin will drop Pumpkin Helm which can be obtained in both Sacred Path and Shard of Faith.

● Owl, Elite Owl, and Strix Argentcrest will now wear a witch hat to celebrate Halloween. Witch Hat blueprint is added to their drop table as well.

● Added new equipment - Witch Hat, exclusive item during Gobboween. It provides a lot of magic damage resistance, yet it is easily broken.

● Sluagh models will be updated to pumpkin-themed.

● Uillip models will be updated to pumpkin-themed.

VFX Optimization


● The blinding vfx for Frostbolt Staff Head has been reduced.

● Wall Torch will brighten up a larger area.

● Sand dust vfx from Sandworm’s movement and attack has been reduced.

● Optimize the vfx indication for Rune of Haste.


Combat and Balance


● Optimize the AI for mythical creatures, making them more formidable foes for players.

● Adjust Constitution, Mana, Food, Weight for mythical creatures.

● Reduce the hp regeneration time duration for Giant Bufo and Ventox the Cragkeeper, making them easier for players to tackle.

● Elites and Boss creatures (with the exception of Elite Scarab) will no longer flee from fight after they are engaged in combat with players. This will help avoid situations where elites and bosses are summoned but the attempts to kill them fail, hence stopping your quest progression.

● Removed the blink attack from Elite Kasha and Szareth the Huntress.

● Increase the damage of sickle Goblin’s bleeding effect, while reduce the effect duration on the target.

● Add poisonmist volume to the entrance of Sandworm’s cave. Be careful when you decide to venture into Sandworm’s Cave.

● Change the names and tips for cave creatures to distinguish them from non-cave creatures. Cave creatures are more challenging and they cannot be tamed.

Bug fixing


● Fixed an issue where Spiced Omelet could not be crafted in Stone Fireplace.

● Fixed an issue where players can not use the mouse when the character is shapeshifted into Unicorn.

● Fixed the inconsistency between the actual prices and display prices for goods merchants sell.

● Fixed an issue where Reagent Bottle (empty) would spoil.

● Fixed some terrain that caused characters to get stuck.

● Fixed an issue where some creatures would not stand in idle position correctly.

● Fixed an issue where killing Skeletons would not grant Knowledge exp for Sacrifice the Living Rank 1.

● Fixed an issue where Uillip corpse would vanish upon killing it before it explodes.

● Fixed an issue where the repairing material for quality equipment was not correctly displayed.

● Fixed an animation sliding issue with Giant Bufo’s movement.

● Fixed an issue where guards will not return to their original point once aggroed.

● Fixed an issue where Owl corpse is dragged further away and ragdoll twitching upon being killed.

● Fixed an issue where obtaining Goblin Gizmo does not complete the Goblin quest.

● Fixed an issue where Weather. Acid Rain spoils.

● Fixed an issue where Giant Bufo and Dharkhu can not climb up slopes with lower grades.

● Fixed an issue where shapeshifted Sluagh is giving the character unreasonably high HP.

● Fixed an issue where logging off while in Satyr-incarnation will cause you to lose all the items in your inventory once you log back in.

● Fixed an issue where Ice Imp can not get out of the Summoning Pool.

● Fixed an issue where Hydroponic Plot can not be placed anywhere.

● Removed Spicy Bacon from Neutra’s Temple inventory

● Fixed some localization.

● Fixed an issue where Cyclopes is not pointing to the right entry in Bestiary.

Other Known Issues


• We’ve noticed the issue that Craft Satyr Stone Spear cannot be completed, and we are working as fast as we can to fix it, with the data provided by players.

• Taming quests not being registered is caused by players getting too far away from the target during the taming process. We’ve come up with a fix and we will start testing the fix to make sure it is ready for the next patch update.

• We are also aware of the issues players who completed the quest line in pre-DLC-release in Sacred Path have in tracking the new quest system. We are making optimization and adjustment to fix the issue.

• Fix an issue where missing save data in the Sacred Path is causing the destruction of facilities like Workbench, Magic Workbench, Forge and etc.

• Fix the incorrect decay timer for facilities, changing it from 3 days to 15 days.

• Fix an issue where Weather.Acid Rain cannot be crafted.

• Change the stack amount for Acidic Extract from 10 to 100.

• Fix the issue where material is gone when you are crafting mythical summoning stone in the Temple altars.

• Fix some client crashes.


[H1]Account Bans[/H1]

Based on the reports we’ve received, the accounts of the following players will be banned for using illegal third-party speeding hacking plugins and had impacted the gaming experience for other players.

We will keep on our anti-cheat effort to strike any exploits. If you spot any possible exploits, please record videos and report to us. We will verify the cases and take actions as needed.

Oct. 18 Closedbeta Test build Patch Update

Greetings, Adventurers in Ganareth,

For the past few days, we’ve been working on fixing the game, both in Sacred Path and Shard of Faith. These fixes will be updated in closedbeta build for testing and be pushed live next week.

We would like to extend our appreciation to all the players who help pointed out bugs, and provided feedback and suggestion to us.


Key fixes



•Fix the issue where in Sacred Path dismounting tames will cause characters rubberbanding and being teleported.
•Fix the issue where in Sacred Path, water surface reflection isn’t displayed correctly.

We received a lot of feedback and bug report about vanilla after DLC is out, and fixing those issues make into out top priority. While we continued to work on fixing bugs in DLC, we will also keep an eye out for the Sacred Path, and timely fix issues and bugs in vanilla.



Terrain



•Fix a lot of terrain that are getting characters stuck.
•Fix the issue where creatures are not getting killed while they are outside the map boundary.
•Fix the issue where characters are killed when they reach above the maximum height designated in the map.


We received numerous reports about character getting stuck in terrain and being forced to trigger death, so we examine the terrain and fix a bunch of them. Had you encountered similar situation after this update is pushed live, please contact us with the coordinate about the location that is getting your character stuck, and we will timely fix it.


Progression



•Fix some quests that can not be completed.
•Fix some knowledge nodes that can not be unlocked.
•Summoning Stone: Elite Spectre will no longer need to be unlocked in Knowledge before you can use it to summon Elite Spectre.

We are progressively testing and adjusting issues that are impeding progression in Quest and Knowledge.




Harvesting\Biome\Interactable facility



•Increase harvest yield for glowing plants in Necromancer plants. Now you will gain more Magic Shards from these magical plants. You might also harvest Hot Spring Energy from them, especially when you use Scythe to harvest.
•Spawn more resource such as Grass, Wood, Stone around the camps so that survival is more player-friendly.

•Fix some floating Ore deposit.
•Fix some incorrectly-placed Demon Treasure Chest that ends up being inaccessible.

•Fix the issue where Summoning Altars are consuming material but not validly summoning elites and bosses while in cooldown.




Weapon\Tame\Incarnation



•Increase the damage for Gorgon incarnation and her mythical artifact, which dramatically enhance its ability to damage elites, bosses and wild creatures. This would allow Gorgon incarnation to be paralleled to Satyr Incarnation.

•Fix Saurianian Stone Sword’s model so that its blade is following the right direction.

•Adjust stats and stats growth rate for Behemoth and Monarch Crab, so that their stats will be increased more when tames level up.


•Increase the damage and hp for the creatures summoned from Necromancer’s staff head.

•Fix the collision for Satyr and Gorgon to avoid being damaged from attacks coming from a long distance.
•Fix the issue where character stats are incorrect when they shapeshifted into Dune Thrasher and Sluagh.

•Fix the issue where sprinting is invalid for some creatures.




Wild creatures



•Reduce the Werewolf spawning rate in the Howling Sands.

•Increase damage and HP for creatures in the caves, so that you will be challenged more before you confront the cave bosses.

•Extend the skill cooldown for Szareth the Huntress so that characters are no longer consistently under her flame.

•Fix AI for Behemoth and Celestial Dragon so that they will fight back when attacked.

•Fix an issue where Monarch Crab gets glitched below the terrain when summoned.

•Fix Dharkhu’s death animation in its ragdoll.

•Fix Uillip’s eye blinking animation.

•Fix the issue where Elite Dune Thrasher and Arakkonen the Devourer are not lootable when they are killed.

•Fix Giant Bufo’s IK to allow more natural movement.

•Fix the issue where United Army and Guards are not returning to their original point when they are aggroed away to targets.



Structures



•Greatly increase the flying speed for Spell Tower Ammo.
•Fix an issue where Spell Tower is not targeting crouching characters.

We received feedback saying that the flying speed for Spell Tower Ammo is too slow to provide protection for bases, so we significantly increase its speed in this update so much so that even using Balefire Sabaton will not help you dodge the bullet.


•Fix an issue where Saurianian Sausage is not listed as craftable in Stone Fireplace.
•Fix an issue where Aroma Oil and Venom cannot be crafted in Advanced Millstone.
•Fix an issue where Portal Beacon cannot be placed.
•FIx Acidic Extract’s crafting material.





UI and Usability



•Pathway Guide

The terrain complexity in Shard of Faith is mazing players who wander around Ganareth, so we are placing interactable Brazier at forks. When you interact with these Brazier, a map will show up to indicate your current location, and you can follow the dotted line to traverse to the areas you desired, or you can use Portal to teleport to these areas.

•Optimize the UI element and vfx for respwan screen.

•Add vfx for Summoning Altars for differentiation purpose. Elite altars are blue, Boss altars are purple, Mythical altars are yellow while Spectre altars are red.


•Fix the area names not showing up correctly in HUD.
•Fix the issue where texts not showing up in their entirety in some screens.



Assets and VFX fixes



•Optimize the vfx for Oil Lamp so that it is no longer overtly dazzling.

We’ve noticed some vfx for items from vanilla are unpleasant to look at in Shard of Faith, and we had adjusted the vfx for campfire and Frostbolt in previous update. We will continue to adjust other dazzling vfx.

•Fix an issue where Spell Generator is not glowing when activated.

•Optimize Werewolf’s howling vfx so as to reduce its cost in performance and avoid lagging issues.

•Fix the missing texture for Goblin Treasure.
•Fix the missing texture for House Seal.



Audio



•Lower the volume for the growling sound when characters are hungry.
•Tune up the volume for the snoring sound when sleeping. (we believe that is what snoring sound like)
•Fix the issue where Sluagh chain sound can be heard from a long distance.




Localization



Russian localization are ready for implementation, as soon as we fix the some text incorrectness discovered during the proofread.
Spanish, German, Portuguese, Japanese and French will be completed later.



Other known issues


The below issues are also fixed, and they will be updated in later builds.

•Fix an issue where Reagent Bottle spoils.
•Fix an issue where elites and bosses will flee and can’t be killed.

•To make it easier to craft manor structures, we will implement the below changes:

Oct.14 Patch Update

Greetings, Adventurers in Ganereth,


We have received many player reports about bugs and issues that are currently troubling your gameplay. We are working as soon as we can to fix these issues so that we can provide a better gameplay experience for our players.

We welcome you to follow our upcoming patch announcements to get the latest update about Dark and Light.

We have another Dark and Light patch coming at 12:00 am PDT on Oct. 14. This patch will focus on balancing numbers and fixing bugs. Please keep an eye out for you items and tames.You can check the list of changes in the below:


• Balance the issue of Owl Shapeshifting draining stamina too quickly. Owl Shapeshifting Rune will now be active for 10 minutes once cast, and its flying duration is adjusted to 1-2 minutes.

• Fix the issue where incarnation stone will lose its stamina when characters are getting attacked. Incarnate into Satyr or Gorgon comfortably and defeat your enemy!

• Adjust the durability for the four mythical artifacts. Notably, Bow of Gorgon will now last much longer as allow you to fire more shots without consuming arrows.

• Fix bugs where the quests about crafting boss Summoning Stone and crafting Summoning Stone.Elite Kasha cannot be completed.

• Fix localization in quests so that the quest goals are displaying the correct information.

• Adjust the spawning levels for Kasha and Boglord in Kasha Forest so that these creatures pose a lesser threat to new players venturing in this area.

• Reduce the frequency of heavy breathing noise when characters are running so that you are less likely disturbed by it.

• Fix Kasha’s incorrectly low damage. Tamed Kasha should now have higher damage growth than its wild counterpart.

• Fix an issue where Gorgon-incarnated characters are unable to use Rune of Healing and other runes.

• Fix an issue where Gorgon-incarnated characters cannot use food consumables.

We have collected a lot of feedback from our players, but unfortunately we are not able to have all those issues fixed and pushed live at one time. We will continue working on fixes and optimization and we welcome your feedback and thoughts.

Dark and Light 10/13 Update - Patch Notes

Greetings Adventurers,

We have another Dark and Light patch coming at 1:00 am PDT on Oct. 13. You can check out all of the changes in the full patch notes below.

● Reduce the probability of encountering foggy weather
● Increase the amount of Wood you gather from trees
● Satyr Axe will harvest more Wood
● Desert oasis is now populated with more trees and shrub
● Fix some localization issues
● Fix some quests goals that were previously un-achieveable
● Fix Satyr Craft not getting Knowledge exp
● Fix the issue where the magic taming Knowledge can not progress
● When you cast Frostbolt Staffhead, its vfx should no longer be blocking your view in HUD
● Dim the vfx brightness for Campfire and Bonfire.
● Increase the temperature Bonfire in the United Army Outposts provided so that characters will no longer be in cold status around bonfire.

Oct.11 Patch Update

Greetings Adventurers,

We have another Dark and Light patch coming at 1:00 am PDT on Oct. 11. This patch is focused on fixing the durability issue in vanilla, as well as taming issues in Shard of Faith. You can check out all of the changes in the full patch notes below.

· Fix an issue in Sacred Path servers where gears are getting 0 durability.
· Fix an issue in Shard of Faith servers where taming progression gets stuck as you are not able to feed the tame.
Fix some localization to ensure their correctness.

We will push six additional localization as soon as possible: Russian, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese.

Dark and Light - Dev update on Shard of Faith

Adventurers,

We hope you are enjoying your new experiences while exploring Gaia! We want to give you some developmental updates, so check out the new info below and let us know what you think!


  • We’ve set up one US-PVE server and one EU-PVE server for Shard of Faith, and we will open more PVE servers, if we see the demand from players.

  • We are currently working to fix two issues, and we estimate to push them live the earliest tonight (Thursday midnight), the latest end of this Friday:
  • The Sacred Path servers, gear durability getting 0。
  • Shard of Faith, taming progression gets stuck as you are not able to feed the tame.

  • Current available localization only supports English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean. Localization of other languages will be updated shortly.

  • To enable death inventory drop, please configure “AllowBagDrop” in your server ini setting.

  • We are also investigating a few other issues, including:
  • The Sacred Path servers, for some of the tames, after dismounting them, characters land in incorrect locations and get rubber-banding.
  • Resource and items missing after the DLC update.

  • We’ve noticed the current inconsistency in decay timers across all servers in Sacred Path. We will be updating them in the next patch to ensure consistency for all servers, with the below timer: Straw 3 days, Wood 4 days, Stone 5 days, Iron 7 days, and Manor 15 days.

  • We have adjusted structure HP in vanilla PVP servers for the purpose of unifying servers in the future. Having all PVP servers to follow one set of server settings and multiplier/number settings, and all PVE servers to follow another set. By unifying that, server transfer is doable between vanilla and DLC. Vanilla PVP servers correspond to DLC PVP servers, while Vanilla PVE servers correspond to DLC PVE servers. Changes were made to structure HP to balance the resource costs for defenders vs the resource cost it takes for raiders to be successful. These values will be looked at closely while players get used to the new dynamic.
