Dark and Light 8/3 Update - Patch Notes

Greetings Adventurers,

We have another Dark and Light patch coming at the start of this coming week. This patch is focused on giving more options for people running servers, as well as creating user made maps. You can check out all of the changes in the full patch notes below.

Adjustments

  • Expose item stack size and item weight multiplier in .ini setting files.
  • StackSizeMultiplier=2.0 (used to adjust item stack size)
  • ItemWeightScale=0.5 (used to adjust item weight)
  • StackWeightMultiplier=2.0 (adjusts Character weight)

The failsafe way to adjust these multipliers is go to the game directory, and add StackSizeMultiplier, and ItemWeightScale under [ServerSettings] in \Game\Config\DefaultGameUserSettings.ini. Please ignore the in-game slider in HOST/LOCAL screen.

  • Sync dev kit changes and fixes to game to make sure that the changes to the dev kit reflects that in the game so client crashes caused by any of those dev kit changes should be solved now.

Dark and Light 7/9 Update - Dev Kit Patch Notes

Greetings Adventurers!

We have a dev kit patch first up this week, which will be going out at ~11AM PDT, Tuesday, 7/10. You will be able to update via EPIC Launcher. With this patch, we have made some adjustments to the current systems in place, as well as exposing some functions. You can check out the full notes below.

  • Expose function, Remove Item, from PrimalinventoryComponent
  • Expose function, Add Item and Add Item EX, from PrimalinventoryComponent (note: ShowHUD is different from ARK’s counterpart)
  • Expose functions, BP Timer Servers, and BP Timer NonDedicated (note: added new properties - bUseBPTimerServer, bUseBPTimerNonDedicated, float BPTimerServerMin, float BPTimerServerMax, float BPTimerNonDedicatedMin,and float BPTimerNonDedicatedMax; added new events - BPTimerNonDedicated and BPTimerServer; added new methods, EnableBPTimerServer and EnableBPTimerNonDedicated)
  • Expose function, Get Riding Dinos
  • Expose functions, BPContainerActivated and BPContainerDeactivated (note: added new property bUseBPActivated, used to determine if there is blueprint event. When true, it will trigger BPContainer Activated and BPContainer Deactivated)
  • Expose function, Spawn Dino from Data
  • Expose BPWeapon Deal Damage in the Weapons Template BP actor

Dark and Light 7/5 Update - Patch Notes

We hope that everyone who celebrated had a great holiday, and everyone who didn’t is having a great week! We have another small patch this week that will be going live Friday,7/6, at around 1AM PDT. You can check out the full patch notes below.

  • Fixed a bug where summoning pools were becoming invisible in Single Player
  • Adjusted Shapeshifting so Adventurers aren’t able to use Shapeshift Runes before unlocking them in the Knowledge tree.

Dark and Light 6/28 Update - Patch Notes

Greetings Adventurers!

We have another patch this week, with a few adjustments to in game elements of Dark and Light. This will be going live at the normal time, ~1AM PDT, Friday, 6/29. Please make sure that your Adventurer and tames are in a safe location before this update starts.

  • Fix an issue where server resets were making saddles disappeared on tamed creatures.
  • Fix an issue where leaving render distance will causes tames crafting items to stop, and resources to be lost.

Dark and Light 6/28 Update - Shard of Faith - Environments

Last week we announced our first ever DLC for Dark and Light, Shard of Faith, which will be free content for everyone who already owns Dark and Light. While we haven’t given out too many details, we did speak about it during our live Q&A from last week, which we've uploaded to YouTube here. The Shard of Faith DLC page is also now live on Steam, which you can check out here. However, today we want to shed a little light on some of the areas Adventurers will encounter when they make it to this new and mysterious land. We’ll be continuing to drop sneak peaks like this in the coming weeks, so make sure you like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter. Greetings Adventurers!

We’ve been hinting at some big news for a few weeks now, and the time has finally arrived where we can spill it all! There are four big topics that we want to cover, the first one being the Steam Summer Sale!



Dark and Light is part of the Steam summer sale which started today, 6/21. For the entirety of the sale, Dark and Light will be available for purchase for half price. This sale is a great opportunity for new Adventurers to come to Archos, so be on the lookout for fresh faces, and don’t be afraid to lend a helping hand if need be!

To go along with the Steam Summer Sale, we have an event that will be available on all official servers until the sale is over. We’ve asked the dev team if they could crank up the drops rates a bit, which they were more than happy to do. Starting this weekend, all drop and harvest rates will be increased by two times what they normally are. This event is for new and seasoned players alike, so be sure that you’re taking full advantage of these rates while you can. This event will last until the end of the Steam Summer Sale.

Today is a big day in Archos, and as some of you may already have heard, Dark and Light has officially announced its first DLC expansion. Dark and Light - Shard of Faith, will be a new map for Adventurers to tackle, with new creatures, spells, and items. You can check out the official announcement here.

Last but not least, we have one more thing that we’d like to do on the community side. We’ve been talking about doing a live stream for some time now, and we feel with all of this big news, that now is the time. Erebus, Zypher, and Machine will be hosting a round table live Q&A on Twitch.tv/darkandlightofficial. The stream will be kicking off on Friday, 6/22, at 3PM PDT and go for about an hour.

We’d like to again thank everyone for their constant support and care during Dark and Light’s Early Access. Through thick and thin, you’ve been with us for almost a year now, and we couldn’t be happier. All of us here at Snail Games are so excited for the future of Dark and Light, and we can’t wait to show you all what we’ve been working on.

We have a small patch for this week going out tomorrow, Thursday, 6/21, at ~1AM PDT. This patch is to make sure Adventurers stay visible and controller users can move correctly once again.
