New patch to build 2002: New fixes and final implementations
Build 2002
Release candidate 04
May 10th 2019 Early Access Beta branch
Fixes:
Stopped goal tile from deleting the tile beneath it when deleting the goal tile
Prevented game from crashing when beating record in while making a level
Max Leap has a longer fire dash. His long ramp up time made his fire dash almost unfairly short
Explosions’ smoke particles caused the game to drop frames. Now fixed by dividing the max number of particles with the number of explosions
var debrisCnt = round(irandom_range(6,maxDebris)/explosioncount);
World Record ghost (WR ghost) now set to ON by default
Implementations:
Players’ clocks are now placed in the top with a slight transparency to try and see if it solves the issue with the clocks blocking the player’s view
Larger collision masks when head-jumping, meaning it’s harder to die now. Making it less tedious to try and bounce on enemies
Preventing player from pressing R as the end level sequence is on to prevent double restart response
Game now pauses if gamepad is accidently disconnected
Steam achievements! We have put down 13 basic challenges to get started on the achievement system (later the achievement system will be implemented in-game so that it is not depending on Steam)
DASH World (formerly known as http://dashworld.babyduka.com) is now called https://dashworld.online . Make sure to update it if you have it bookmarked in your browser

Final Update to Test Branch Before Early Access Launch Q2 2019!
Welcome to update 2002! The final one where we are testing pre-Early Access build in the community. This article summarizes the updates and reveals new implementations and fixes. Get ready for some DASHing!
Fixes and implementations:
Worldwide leaderboards: See the Top 5 World Record holders and Top 5 creators, as well as your own position in the list
Default playlists in Custom filter in Play Menu: Beginner Levels and Example List. To help new players learn about playlists and DASH World
Updated Heroes menu: Amount of diamonds collected and WRs displayed relative to Hero
Default motion is now Sprint instead of Walk, meaning the two mechanics have been swapped. You are now always running and when you hold Ctrl/Z/R1/RB you Walk. Walk can be used to sneak past sleeping enemies (only Sploders for now). Later a crumbling tile will be implemented where it will crumble faster if you are sprinting, so you will have to walk carefully over it otherwise you will fall through.
Explanation in Play menu over level slots
Difficulty added to level slot in Play menu (ex.: [Easy] or [Extreme])
New particles: I took the time to get rid of all non-low-res particles so that all dust clouds, farts, fire and smoke clouds are spawned with a handmade sprite to fit the overall theme. It’s amazing how a detail like this (which is so important) really ties everything together even more.
Rich Presence: Make sure to add DASH to your games library in your Discord user settings! DASH now has Rich presence meaning that it will show Playing DASH: Danger Action Speed Heroes under your logo when you play the game
New ghost/WR ghost polish: the ghosts are now more transparent as the player is closer and becomes up to 90% transparent as it gets further away from player. It finally feels good and not as if the ghost is in the way.
Set directions of tiles: you are now able to adjust the starting direction of Slappers, Spitters, Slapbats (up and down too) and moving platforms.
Polished player scoreboard design in Main menu: redesigned to indicate the data more clearly
All in all we have done a lot to meet the feedback from build 2001, where players did not understand the diamond display. Several design features are implemented to help the understanding of the record system
Confetti when celebrating level uploaded or new world record!
Rating displayed in pause menu, so there is even more info on what you are playing
New design with more graphics to support the power of the Play menu.
Help in Editor: while working on a level, new players can easily learn the names of all individual tiles. A small text overlay appears at the bottom of the screen now.
This build (2002) is the final release before the official Early Access release. We will patch this build but there will be no more features implemented until we are live with all the new players and streamers Q2 2019 (announcement coming soon).
Things which will be finished and put in patch next week:
Short intro sequence
Handling offline player
Last animation touches
New tile set
We know that there are plenty of stuff which we would have loved to have in the build BUT remember: Early Access is all about implementing stuff on the go. Just like we have been doing since August 2018 :) But now the very basic game box is solid and polished. Because we have been playing, testing, implementing and updating for so many months we really feel that everything is set and ready to roll. Of course we have the nasty back-of-the-drawer note with bugs that are rare but mean. These we will make sure are on the spot as we go live.
We will be announcing the official release date (dadadadaaaa…) very soon
And one more thing: LOOK AT ALL THESE EPIC LEVELS LISTED!!!
Much respect and appreciation to the community of DASHers! We're almost there!

BUILD 2001 is live: Vertical Levels, Gameboy shader & More Polish!
Especially excited to share this build and hear what feedback and bugs you'll find Date: April 7th 2019
Build: 2001 patch 00
- Vertical levels: create tall vertical levels. New details to background layers added to this format to make it interesting.
- New load slot design: easily get to see which Heroes have made the levels and which records you have. Rating also displayed on load slots now.
- New display in main menu showing how many diamonds and world records you have
- User hub in main menu showing how many levels you have uploaded and how many plays your levels have
- Set the cam on the World Record ghost to watch the replay. Controls to do that displayed in Pause menu when selecting WR Ghost ON/OFF
- Change Hero menu in Pause menu now displays Hero info: name and stats to more easily get into which hero you wish to use (especially for new players)
- Editor’s Settings menu polished (still working on Water and Weather)
- Polished Settings menu (in main menu) with new option to change controls to different scheme: Choose between Controls Setting A and B now (especially for controllers where you want the buttons to be opposite of the default setup).
- New Gameboy-inspired-4-colors-only-shader. Select it in the Settings menu
- Terminal velocity set to 25 instead of 30 to make the fall of a player less fast when peaking vertical speed variable.
- Changed The Raider’s diamond to blue instead of orange. Gave Duffie the orange (and yellowish) diamond instead.
- New yellow tile in Rooftops to spike things up!
- Polished backgrounds and extra layers. For some months the backgrounds have not been drawn properly, due to updated game engine (Game Maker 2.2.2) which handles backgrounds differently than the prior version (GM:S 1.x).
- Next week we are implementing the final new stuff. After that there will be no more *big* implementations until Early Access release 2019.
- From about a week from now, we are launching an intense campaign to get new streamers to play DASH! If you know (of) anyone who might be interested or know someone who would definitely love DASH, send us their contact!
DASH ON!

The final build of 2018 is live Let your Steam client update and press PLAY
Alpha build 253
2-11-2018
This is the final real update before 2019. Patches will be uploaded but no further implementations will happen for the rest of the year.
Changelog for build 253:
GAME: - Introducing new Hero: **Max Leap** - one rabbit who never settled down
- Introducing new tileset: Rooftops with 2 new backgrounds and 2 new music themes (urban themes from the game Urban Pirate by Baby Duka and B. Magic)
- Setting a lock on the new introduced implementations to encourage more gameplay
- Made head-jumping more precise
- Took all Heroes' Speed stat 1 down in the Menu (not in the game). This is to give more space to faster heroes in the future
- Introducing new filter: Best Rating. Also moving the Alphabetical filter to the bottom placing the Best Rating levels in the top
- Made it so that every time you erase or place a tile the time file is erased. In order to avoid uploads of levels which can't be completed.
- Fixed a bug where you were unable to upload a level with a straight record (ie. 00:05.00)
- New default Worlds in the Play Menu (formerly known as the Run Menu)
- New Max Leap emojis on the Discord! (Join now for the best experience!)
DASH WORLD: - New splash menu, bidding player welcome and showing featured news/content
- Introducing new Sharing option: Click the sharing logo next to the title of your World and receive a unique ID link. This link can be shared anywhere you like (the Discord, Twitch chat, Twitter etc).
If a player who is already logged into DASH World clicks the link, the World will be transferred to their unique DASH World account!
PR: During the rest of November 2018 we will make a move once again to get people on board. During this period we will like to encourage you to make the ultimate Worlds and share them on the Discord. If you have made a cool World which is outstanding we will take and make it one of the default Worlds all players receive as they get the game in the future!
Thank you all alpha testers for being here and giving feedback. It has been a great piece of dev and the game has become far more than we could've imagined ourselves! THANK YOU and looking forward to 2019!
