Hey everyone,

I'm sorry to say this, but I'm going to have to stop working on the game. Something's happened to my backups and after rolling back, some of my core blueprints are refusing to open in the editor. Unreal Engine has way too many bugs for me to keep going forward with a project like this. The Engine is nice for small stuff, but this is way out of its scope. There are solutions to fix these problems, but I'm not sure I want to try anymore. Nobody seems to have any interest in the game and the market is going to be flooded with space sims, sci-fi sandboxes, etc...so starting over wouldn't really make sense.

Thank you to everyone who stuck around and gave me some encouragement. This was a fun process and I learned a lot!

1.4.0 Preview!



Hey everyone! I just wanted to pop in and show some of the stuff I've been working on since it's been awhile since I've updated you.

The screenshot above is a small Skirmish map I'm working on for the 1.4.0 update. Skirmish is going to be the first new game mode that will be added in the 1.4.0 series. It is a simple death-match inspired game mode where you will be pitted against different players or ai to reach the score limit before time runs out!

Skirmish will be both a standalone game mode, and a quest that can be taken in the Sandbox and other open world areas.



I'd also like to show off one of the new cities I'm working on for the sandbox!

My goal is to make it feel more 'alive', so these cities will be places where you can find roaming npcs that will go to different buildings and talk with each other, take jobs, etc... and there will be places for you to go and gather side quests, trade, take bounties, buy vehicles and so on!

The 1.4.0 update will also be adding some smaller game modes that I plan on making playable in the open world, such as racing, deathmatches, battle royale, etc...

You'll be able to access them by entering lobbies that create small arenas where the matches will take place. I think this will be a good way to fill up some of the empty space since the planets are beyond massive and extremely empty right now.

I also plan on making it easier to transition from ground to space. Those of you who have played the space sim scenario have probably had a lot of frustration with this already since it can take a very long time to land.

Last, but certainly not least, I wanted to show off the new biomorph models!















I'm still working on making their animations feel a little more fluid. Once I do, I'll create some videos so you can hear the new audio!

Also, huge shoutout to Bugrimov Maksim, Phyronnaz, FS Creations and Ximo Catala for the designs! Keep up the amazing work! Without the support from the amazing UE4 community, I would have never been able to get this far! <3

  • Removed text to speech. I'll replace this with voice acting as soon as possible.

  • Removed the script that walked the player to the first quest. Once it's fixed up, I'll add it back.

  • Removed long-press keys in favor of unique keys for each action. This will prevent some of the strange input issues that were reported.

  • Removed controller support until long-press keys are fixed.

  • Removed footstep sounds until I have better sound files.

KNOWN ISSUES:




  • The text for the new dialogue system is a rough draft. I will be updating it later. This update needed to come out before I could finish it.

  • Alt Tabbing will clear focus for your mouse. If you hold alt-tab and double click on the game screen to return it will resolve the issue. I'll have this fixed as soon as possible, but it looks like it might be an engine issue from what I've seen on the forums.

  • Boss fights are kinda lame. I'll be adding some cool intro FX/Cinematics later on.

  • Abilities are still W.I.P. please contact me at the support email to let me know what issues you have!

  • Entering your save game name can take a little time as the system goes through and ensures there are no duplicates. This only seems to happen if you create dozens of save games.

  • Some modules are using duplicate models. This won't change the functionality at all and I'm in the process of designing unique models for them.

  • In-game loadout selection does not work.

  • Shadows are bad.

  • Pink triangle appears on the screen when starting a new game or respawning.

  • Fix spelling/grammar and placeholder text.

  • Some menus still create layers that block input.



UP NEXT (Season 1):




  • Ensure wasteland spawners work.

The 1.3.6 unstable test brought up a lot of good feedback! All of the reported issues have been addressed and will be rolled out in the live update.

I'm still working on the update, but I wanted to show off the new character models/character creation system.

Hey everyone!

Thank you to everyone who has purchased the game so far!

I am still working to resolve all of the issues reported by Genkipro, but I wanted to give you an opportunity to play with the current fixes that I have rolled out.

Moving to the unstable branch might impact your save games, so I would backup your saved directory (contact the support email if you need help) to avoid any data loss.

The game is in a development build so you might see a few debug messages and you will have access to the console. This could, in some rare cases, cause some performance issues. If the game is slow, try lowering your graphics settings while on the unstable branch. You should be able to raise them back up when you switch back to the stable branch.

The most notable issue, aside from what Genkipro reported, is an issue with the tutorial character's first person camera. I plan to have that fixed and rolled out today, then the build will probably go live!

Small delays

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that I'm still working on the next update. I have had a few bad reviews come in, so I wanted to address the issues mentioned in those reviews before rolling out the new multiplayer features.

Unfortunately, I'm a human so I need to sleep, which is why the updates are taking so long! Someday, I'll find a way to defy my humanity, but for now, I might be a couple of days late with the 1.4-1.5 stuff.

  • The pickaxe has been added to default items in the next hotfix so it's easier to harvest rocks/metals.

  • Removed pickaxe from starting items and added 8 more starting items to replace it.

  • Waiting until after Dr. Marx's rant to start the next quest.

<*> Alt Tabbing will clear focus for your mouse. If you hold alt-tab and double click on the game screen to return it will resolve the issue. I'll have this fixed as soon as possible, but it looks like it might be an engine issue from what I've seen on the forums.

LOWERING SHADOW QUALITY IS USUALLY THE FIX IF YOU HAVE PERFORMANCE ISSUES!
OTHERWISE, TRY LOWERING OTHER VIDEO SETTINGS UNTIL YOU ARE AT YOUR DESIRED FRAMERATE!

  • Added an In Game browser.

  • Testing a fix that should stop zombies from walking into walls in the Quarantine level.

  • Added some new models and FX for abilities. They should look a bit better now.

  • Significantly increased AI health. Bullets won't be as OP.

  • Fixed an issue that made A.I. see doors as obstacles.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented guards from taking damage in the Prologue.

  • Fixed an issue that spawned an enemy in the tutorial.

  • Fixed a crash in multiplayer.

<*> For the moment, I am using text to speech for dialogue. I plan on replacing this as soon as possible.

<*> I'll be adding the pickaxe to the default items in the next hotfix so it's easier to harvest rocks/metals.
