Day Zero - Build, Craft, Survive

The 1.3.1 Hotfix is live!

NOTES

SORRY FOR THE TYPOS IN THE CHANGELOG!

THIS BUILD IS THE HEAVIEST BUILD I'VE RELEASED SO FAR!

LOWERING SHADOW QUALITY IS USUALLY THE FIX IF YOU HAVE PERFORMANCE ISSUES!
OTHERWISE, TRY LOWERING OTHER VIDEO SETTINGS UNTIL YOU ARE AT YOUR DESIRED FRAMERATE!

FATAL ERRORS ARE ALMOST ALWAYS RELATED TO PERFORMANCE ISSUES. IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING CRASHES TRY REDUCING YOUR GRAPHICS SETTINGS.
IF THIS DOESN'T HELP, CONTACT ME WITH SOME REPRODUCTION STEPS AND I'LL GET IT RESOLVED ASAP!

IF YOU ARE HOSTING A LISTEN SERVER (I.E. USING YOUR GAMING COMPUTER TO HOST A MATCH) AND IT KEEPS CRASHING, YOUR PC IS NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH TO HOST AND YOU WILL NEED TO WAIT UNTIL DEDICATED SERVERS ARE OUT.

I'M NOT ABLE TO MAINTAIN THE WEBSITE AND SUPPORT CONTACT. IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT

fractuminnovations@gmail.com

I'LL HAVE A NEW SOLUTION OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

CHANGES/FIXES

  • AI now look for cover when attacking.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the user from making a purchase on the market.

  • AI shouldn't be able to see through walls anymore.

  • AI scale their health with Horde Rounds.

  • Fixed an issue that didn't give the scout .45 ACP rounds.

  • Fixed an issue with wandering NPCs not finding a place to wander to.

  • AI now uses a pseudo team system to determine if they can take damage. This will be replaced with the faction system later.

  • Fixed an issue that would save visualized weapons.

  • Fixed Space Defender conditions.

  • Increased loot spawns.

  • Fixed an issue with the random name generator.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented tips from showing the proper text.

  • Fixed an issue that stopped the Avi and Soma triggers from firing in the prologue.

  • Fixed an issue that caused visualized weapons to transform back into pickup items after a user quit the game.

  • Fixed an issue that scaled the distance tracker too high.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the second to last tutorial stage from showing a marker for the trigger.

  • Plasma blade damage has been fixed. They pretty much one hit anything, but this was planned. If you don't like it, let me know!

  • Fixed an issue that stopped level Colors from changing when using the tram.

KNOWN ISSUES:

<*> For the moment, I am using text to speech for dialogue. I plan on replacing this as soon as possible.

<*> Alt Tabbing will clear focus for your mouse. If you hold alt tab and double click on the game screen to return it will resolve the issue. I'll have this fixed as soon as possible, but it looks like it might be an engine issue from what I've seen on the forums.

<*> Zombies are trying to walk into walls in the Quarantine level. I'll have this resolved in the next version.

<*> Cinematics for the Research Center mission aren't firing. The mission is always way too short. I'll be updating this in the next few versions.

<*> The Administration level is going to be completely revamped. It's way too small to fight in.

<*> Body modifications are not showing up properly (this is why I added the coming soon screen in the customization menu).

<*> Guide pictures are all displaying the raw meat icon for now. I'll have new pictures soon!

<*> The guide panel (and some other menus) look a little weird. I'll be slowly adjusting these through the hotfixes.

<*> AI movement can be a little weird inside of buildings. I'll be improving this over the next few updates.

<*> Abilities are implemented, but they haven't been tested. There will probably be some issues with them.

<*> Player profile icons aren't being saved right now.

<*> Bullets are OP. This will be balanced over the next few updates.

<*> The cloud sim/planet atmospheres look pretty bad. I'll have it fixed up when the other issues are cleaned up!

Season 1.3 is live!

Hey everyone!

I apologize for the delay. I needed to take a step back from the game and look at it as a consumer, rather than the game's developer. As most developers will say, it is a completely different experience when you've watched the game grow from the ground up.
After taking some time to evaluate the state of the game, and after taking in the feedback I've gotten so far, I've decided that a large number of creative changes needed to take place.
The most major change was the game's name. Day Zero Build, Craft, Survive obviously lacked inspiration and was honestly kind of spammy, so I've decided to name the game after the series it is meant to introduce.
Therefore, while I am still focused on developing awesome features for you guys to enjoy, I am going to be shifting my main focus on improving the cinematic experience for the Prologue and Season 1 episodes of the Campaign. Then, I will be moving back to completing the Space Sim features that the game was originally designed to implement.

+ This issue has been located and will be resolved in the next update.
+ To avoid this issue, stay toward the northern/southern pole of planets.
- Grass and trees might bounce up and down when running on large planets.
- Loading screen might revert back to main menu loading screen if travelling from sandbox to campaign.
+ This issue has been located and will be resolved in the next update.

UP NEXT::

- More content (space stations, more spooky stuff, random encounters, etc...).
- Vehicle tutorials.
- Crew management tutorials.
- Planet/Nexus management tutorials.
- Star/Gas giant harvesting.
- Planetary orbit simulations.
- Custom jobs for crew members.
- "Citizen" npcs
- Custom crew commands.
- Command menu.
- Diplomacy Simulation.
- RTS components (basic unit selection, buildings, AI).
- Custom solar systems.
- Changing intro character to make it more obvious that you're an alien.
- More vehicles. NOTE::This might get pushed to next update.

NOTES::

- Because of the changes, the Campaign objectives for Season 0 and Season 1 will change.
- Because of the changes, your save data will be invalidated in v 1.1.
- Right now most of the planets, but I plan on updating them as we get closer to Season 2.
- You can travel to other planets by entering a ship using the ship hangar.
- Then press your Auto Run key to view your system map.
- Each planet has an "atmosphere" that dictates weather/clouds/etc, but all lighting effects come directly from the star.
- Space combat is now a seamless part of the Campaign!
- I understand that the changes seem sudden, but this was my plan from day one. The space elements of the game will have no impact on the horror elements that I plan to add.

- Added a Game Modes menu to make it easier to drop into scenarios.

KNOWN ISSUES::

- Removing an attachment will still allow you to drag the attachment icon throwing an error notification while adding an invalid item to your inventory.
- AI can get stuck, preventing them from moving or attacking. This issue has been located and will be resolved in the next update.
- Player is using wrong hand when drinking or eating. This issue has been located and will be resolved in the next update.
- Certain weapons have attachments that should not have attachments.
- Removing an attachment from pistol can cause the pistol to be removed from your hotbar and added to your inventory.
- Switching from weapons while they are held could add them back to your inventory.
- Player might spawn under world on load game. This issue has been located and will be resolved in the next build.
+ While it is not the most ideal option, you can fly back up through the world using the Modifier 3 Key (Default C) while jumping.

NOTES::

- The game will take longer to load if you alt-tab during a loading screen, but will eventually come back if you give it time.
