The MiG-29A remains one of the most famous fighters in the world due to its outstanding performance characteristics, reliability, and simplicity of the weapons systems. It is capable of performing high-alpha manoeuvres that make it deadly in close air combat. In addition to the R-73 and HMS, the MiG-29A is also armed with medium-range radar-guided missiles, a 30mm cannon, and unguided bombs and rockets.
The Mikoyan MiG-29A has been operated by 39 air forces since its introduction in the 1980s, and approximately more than 100 are still in service. Key Features:

VE Day Commemoration | Campaigns Update | Cold War Sale Final Hours
Victory Day
VE Day Celebration in Europe
This week we recount the epic sight of Mustangs escorting bombers across the Rhine and P-47s at treetop level supporting ground forces. Allied combat aviation played a decisive role in hastening the peace in Europe. DCS warbirds such as the P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk IX, Mosquito FB IV, P‑47D Thunderbolt, Bf 109 K‑4, and Fw 190A and D battled each other in those final months to support their own forces and engage in the last, great dogfights over Europe. It is with great pride and honour that we are able to preserve them in DCS and in some way to relive this pivotal chapter in history.
In memory of the machines, and the men and women who designed, built, maintained, and flew them, please join us in remembrance. Take to the DCS skies, and reflect on the real crews who placed their lives on the line. Their legacy lives on in every virtual mission you fly.

Hotfix rollup update 2.9.15
This week’s patch is dedicated to updating several single‑player campaigns. Four of Reflected Simulations’ most popular campaigns received updates: Fear the Bones and Speed & Angels now display Tomcatter87’s corrected tanker skins, and both F‑4E campaigns add an automatic “flaps‑down” safety trigger. Progressive wear‑and‑tear and typo clean‑ups in Red Flag 81‑2 was included, and the F-16C Arctic Thunder campaign has been tuned with blue‑side airfields throughout.
Baltic Dragon delivers quality‑of‑life fixes; Raven One: Dominant Fury sees its Knight I‑R prompt restored; The Enemy Within 3.0 AI‑helicopter landing logic and debrief music is fixed. The Rampagers campaign received a comprehensive review of deck winds, scoring, tanker cues, subtitle timing, and livery accuracy across nine missions.
Badger633 has added a Data Transfer Cartridge notes to every Operation Green Line mission, and missions 1 to 7 and 9 to 13 in the Rise of the Persian Lion 2 campaign. Finally, SorelRo’s Hormuz Freedom swaps in Heatblur’s new F‑4E for the IRIAF, refreshes voice‑overs, and improves AI trigger logic.
Please download the update to enjoy all these important changes. For a list of all changes, read the full changelog.

Operation Black Buck
Charity Live Stream Event
Founded in 2016, ESVH provides vital support for veterans of HM Forces and Blue Light Services across East Sussex, United Kingdom. Entirely volunteer-run, the hub offers weekly drop-ins, wellbeing sessions, addiction support, and assistance for those affected by PTSD or involvement with the criminal justice system. The organisation now seeks to expand its efforts through a bold new initiative – the transformation of a disused building into a recovery centre, complete with a café, offices, and flats to house and rehabilitate homeless veterans. For more details, please watch ESVH Op Black Buck.
To help raise funds for this next chapter, ESVH volunteers, including ex-military personnel and sim enthusiasts will be flying a hand-built simulator in a live stream charity event inspired by Operation Black Buck, the legendary RAF bombing mission of 1 May 1982.
The event will commence on the 3rd of May 2025, 18:00 GMT. UKppeters and the greater DCS Community will embark on a mission recreating the legendary Operation Black Buck, the daring long-range bombing raids carried out during the Falklands War.
All proceeds from this event go directly to supporting the wellbeing, community programs, and ongoing needs of veterans across East Sussex, UK. Thank you for standing with us, for remembering the past, and for helping build a stronger future for those who’ve served.
Your donation will directly support the refurbishment of ESVH’s new centre. This provides shelter, community and a recovery path for those who served and are now facing homelessness. Let’s fly for something greater. Join us. Support them. Learn more and donate during the livestream!

Cold War Launch | DCS Summary | Heatblur Bundle
Cold War Germany
Available now
No other location better exemplified the Cold War between NATO and Warsaw Pact forces than the “Iron Curtain” separating East and West Germany in the 1980s. Massive forces were arrayed on both sides of this heavily fortified frontier that witnessed so much for so many years. Ugra-Media has recreated this pivotal “what if” scenario with a level of excellence and detail far greater than ever before.
This 980x800 km map includes the varied terrain of the rolling hills of southern Germany, the flat northern European plains that served as the corridor to countless historical battles, and the coastlines of the Baltic Sea. The low-level terrain detail makes this map a must have for attack aircraft and helicopter pilots who just love flying at tree-top height.
Early Access Launch Phase 1 will include 59 military airbases, 4 heliports, 27 general aviation airstrips, 40 pre‑placed SAM sites, and summer textures.
Early Access Development Phase 2 will add 10 additional airbases along with spring and autumn textures. Phase 3 will add 51 more airbases, winter textures, and the Cold War Assets Pack.
For a closer look at Ugra’s developmental efforts, check out their Cold War Germany FAQ.
Pricing $55.99 USD at Early Access release (live today). $69.99 USD following the release of Phase 3. Purchase now and save.
Install & Performance Checklist Drive space: 205 GB total (Phase 1 download ≈ 110 GB). Recommended: 32 GB of system RAM and 8 GB of graphics card VRAM.
Map Highlights Buildings come with destruction states. All East German bases feature authentic RSBN navigation beacons. Densely placed ground objects throughout the map, but important areas are left open for mission builder object placement for costume scenarios. Detailed SAM and AAA sites are scattered throughout the map and co-located with many airfields that can be populated with your air defenses of choice.
Why Fly It Now? Whether you’re loitering over the “Fulda Gap” in an A-10, punching through clouds in a Fulcrum, or stalking tanks in a Hind, the DCS: Cold War Germany map offers a new and exciting canvas to experience your DCS aircraft.
DCS Core We have released the initial version of Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC) that supports custom countermeasure programs and radio presets for the F/A-18C and F-16C. DTC files can be created by single player and multiplayer pilots prior to entering a mission from the Briefing Window. Future updates will expand DTC functionality to include navigation, targeting, datalink, weapon settings, and much more. Additional development for the AH-64D and A-10C II is in the pipeline. DTC files can also be saved and shared between missions and even your friends. Please check out this helpful quick start guide and video, Additionally, when you have created your own DTC file, you can share via User Files under DTC Profiles.
The Mission Editor received a new zoom level for the map, making fine-tuning small assets more convenient and precise. Several smaller GUI bugs were fixed and the German Democratic Republic (GDR) now has relevant units and liveries added.
DCS version 2.9.15.9408 also includes new persistence support Scripting API functions which also work with the Mission Save feature with custom scripts. Additionally, more user feedback has prioritised our work on saving destroyed assets and waypoint parameters to the mission save file. This will be coming soon in a future update.
Several AI specific behaviour problems were fixed and new JTAC voice lines for calling out weapon types were added. Furthermore, specific DCS Core optimisations for resource loading have been implemented, improving cockpit loading and boosting application startup speeds.
Eagle Dynamics Modules This update refined many of our in‑house aircraft. As you know, the F‑16C gained early Data Transfer Cartridge support. Additionally, the aircraft received a raft of sensor fixes; from steadier TGP tracking to smoother radar and cursor handling. The F/A‑18C received the same initial DTC implementation, ejection logic fix, and a seeker‑cage correction. AH‑64D crews will notice smoother Cued‑LOS behaviour, air-data probe animation fix, and a less erratic George AI. Rotary fans also benefited from fresh Mi‑24P liveries, plus Mi‑8MTV2 tail-rotor animation and door‑gunner fixes. Black Shark 3’s vibration warning is audible again. F‑5E’s animations like glass damage discrepancies and command bindings were fixed, and the Yak‑52’s brakes, gear bindings, and AI patterns were corrected.
Third‑Party Modules & Terrains Our partner developers also delivered some interesting enhancements. Deka’s JF‑17 sports a new SATAC skin, proper brake‑chute logic, and toned‑down radar effects on RWR. Aerges has tuned the Mirage F1 with synchronized cockpit options, safer missile logic, and robust input commands, while AvioDev’s C‑101 flight director and lesson logic were fixed. Heatblur’s F‑4E introduced user‑made Jester mod support, a pneudraulics overhaul, audio refresh, and new training content; the F‑14 squashed audio‑stepping and afterburner‑lag bugs; and the AJS‑37 restores kneeboard data and all‑aspect RB‑74s.

F/A-18C & F-16C DTC Progress | Cold War Report | F-4E Red Flag 82-1
Data Transfer Cartridge
Development Progress
In the next DCS update, the initial version of the Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC) will be available for both the DCS: F-16C Viper and DCS: F/A-18C. This initial version will offer new interfaces allowing players to create and load DTC settings for radio communications and countermeasures from within the Mission Editor. This long-awaited functionality is available for both single-player and multiplayer missions. After initial release and product tuning, we will add additional DTC items such as navigation routes and points, targets/pre-briefed points, datalink, weapons, stores management, radar, Non-Cooperative Target Recognition (NCTR) library, and more. We will also expand the tool to other aircraft such as the DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer and DCS: AH-64D
The DTC will use a common interface between aircraft types, but offer unique options based on their real-world counterparts. It will be an exceptionally powerful system that allows both detailed programming options, but also the ability to create multiple DTCs per aircraft, to export them, load them, and share them with friends.
Cold War Germany
Development Progress
What's been done? Our partners Ugra-Media have been working hard on the DCS Cold War Germany map lately. Based on community feedback, the map border has been slightly tweaked, and new locations added. This includes new cities and border checkpoints, key Cold War locations, detailed road and rail networks, historically accurate airfields and improved environments. During internal playtests, the Ugra team checked the navaids and airfields, ensuring that each airbase was ready to receive historically accurate aircraft. Extensive rendering optimizations have been made to ensure consistent performance in large missions.
What's working now and next steps? Ugra is currently focused on testing and preparing the map for release. This includes checking airfields, roads and terrain, and translating names into different languages. In the meantime, the colour palettes are being fine-tuned for time of day and all weather conditions. Additionally, Following initial Community feedback, Ugra has significantly improved the map, adding more air defense sites, new locations, original objects, and POIs such as quarries in Leipzig. Looking beyond this early access release, further testing and performance optimisation for high object density areas will be the focus to ensure stable frame rates in both single-player and multiplayer scenarios.
Significant milestones and moments to share One of the milestones worth highlighting to recreate the diversity of Cold War-era missions is the near completion of historical airfields with accurate taxiways and ground structures. Ugra-Media has used historical sources, and where information was lacking, they have also relied on the memories of the people who served at those air bases to add authenticity and detail. Due to the exceptionally high degree of object detail, quantity and diversity, Ugra has been very careful about memory limitations, requiring constant vigilance to stay within the limits of DCS. Overall, these developments bring them closer to presenting an exceptional map that depicts Germany in the 1980s.
“We appreciate your patience and look forward to sharing more milestones. Stay tuned for the release, coming this April!” - Ugra-Media
