Hi everyone, Alec here.
Dead has went through a rough patch last year, with FPS drops and peculiar bugs appearing. Well now, I'm bringing Dead through an actual patch bringing it up to version 6.0.0.0
Here's what's new:
FPS issue fixed. This was caused by a Windows Update sometime ago but a new DLL included with the game maker files should fix this.
Full screen issue fixed. At one point the full screen function didn't work. Now, it does.
Alt-Dodge works Alt dodging didn't work on diagonals. Now it does.
Unable to move in Puppeteer arena. I don't know what caused this but it's somehow fixed so let's just roll with it.
Added "Unlock All Bosses" modifier. As controversial as this seems, I believe you own the copy of the game you bought. If you want to unlock all the bosses straight away so you can just enjoy the fights and try new tactics then that option is now available to you!
Added "Angry Mode" modifier. This removes the cool down between boss attacks. Once the boss starts attacking, they won't stop. This is basically impossible and is only there for fun. If you want more of a challenge and a new experiencing fighting the Great Spirits then this is for you.

Rolling back to 5.0.0.6 due to Puppeteer Bug
Bizarrely, in the newest patch, you cannot move after entering the clock in the Puppeteer fight.
Why? I have no idea. That is some black magic nonsense.

I'm not proud about what I'm about to type but the Dead community is full of super kind and supportive people so I hope existing and new people understand. I want to be honest.
I could not fix the FPS issue. I don't know what caused it and I tried so many different methods to resolve the issue, none of which worked. It's a total mystery and I'm going to have to take this as a big learning experience going forward with other games like Mini-Dead.
So, Dead will be reverting to v5.0.0.6 and, unfortunately, I will not be able to update the game until I figure out this issue. This means any new bug fixes or features will have to reside in the [beta] branch at the risk of low FPS. The good news is that Dead will run at a silky smooth 60 fps by default.
As far as I'm aware the only issue with 5.0.0.6 is the alternative dodge not full working when moving diagonally.
I love Dead and it really bothers me that I can't support it reliably. In the mean time I will continue to try and fix the issues and figure out how to best support future games.

Beta Testing Going Forward
Here is what's going on right now and what's going to happen moving forward.
How this started
Back in version 5.0.0.6 everything was perfect except that dodging diagonally with the alt-dodge resulted in funky dodging.
In an attempt to fix this I inadvertently broke the fullscreen function. God knows how.
Current Version
The current version has functioning fullscreen and alt-dodge. However, I'm getting reports of big FPS drops. I've been assuming that my updates are working which results in my doing lots of Steam announcements to versions that still have a tanked FPS.
Going Forward
I'm going to be working closely with community members to figure out what's going on. I'll be updating the [beta] branch.
The plan is to keep working on the beta until it achieves silky smooth 60fps.
Last Working Version
You also have the option to rollback to version 5.0.0.6 by applying for the [lastworking] version in the Steam beta options. If you're experiencing FPS issues, please download this version. It may have a bug relating to dodging but it's better than having a tanked FPS.
Worst Case Scenario
Worst case scenario would be I am simply unable to solve this FPS issue that, honestly, I have no idea how it occured. If this happens I will roll back Dead to the last working version and leave it as that. This means updates for Dead would be effectively resided to beta branch.
Best Case Scenario
I crack the case and we move from beta into the default version and then everyone wins! We got 60 FPS, fullscreen functionality and alt-dodge goodness.
