Story
In Dead Age: Survivors Trish and Jack are again the managers of Jack´s Camp in the new Area of West End. The story begins dramatically when Jack disappears without a trace... While Trish is frightened, there are two suspects that the player (Jason) gets to know and at the same time the situation becomes dangerous as several factions want to take the chance to conquer the areas around the new Jack's camp. Not an easy situation...

For readers who didn't catch the last news, here it is again: As a designer, It was a horror time last year for me (with 4 diseases at the same time!) and the lost of several devs because of financial problems, but now i can develop fulltime on Dead Age: Survivors with currently 50% Status together with Simone, a new italien programmer, Sandro (my best friend and a good artist) and a few part time programmers as fully independent Silent Dreams 2.0.
It will take more time because we work private indie style, so please don't get impatient. A demo is planned for the summer of 2025. Dead Age Survivors should be released in summer of 2026. But we want you to play demo in 2025 to give us feedback on what we should improve.

But it actually has some advantages in that I have more time for the latest Dead Age, because time limits are always crap for game development.
I have more time for quests and events, can tell a really cool story of blackmail, kidnapping and faction fights, where the zombies of course also have an important role.
I have time for new quests, a new faction "The Lost Ones" and events that weren't even planned!
The combat needs some improvements and we want to get that under control and have cool (small) teams of about 10 people compete against each other to conquer or defend territories. But the troop combat still has to be realized.
I play the version all the time, so the version will have only a few bugs once we go into Early Access
We will start a Kickstarter campaign before Early Access, we will then use this money to bridge the development time until release. Maybe we'll also get a few extra features, e.g. a little voice overs. ;-).
You will see, the long time is our friend to make our darned seventh RPG Dead Age: Survivors really good. We want to create the best Dead Age experience. I'm even doing without a girlfriend at the moment because the game is more important to me, if that means nothing ;-)

The year 2023 is coming to an end, the Christmas season has begun and we want to inform you about the progress of the next Dead Age RPG - Dead Age: Survivors. The Dead Age series is of course also in the Christmas sale. In case you missed part 1 or the lot improved Dead age 2.
It's still a bit too early for new footage, we're in the process of changing the invisible "random battles" to a few random enemies on the map that move from round to round and can sometimes be dodged. Our new lead programmer Rao and Quest programmer Huaxia are part of the changed team from 2023 and both from China who are studying in Germany. Fitting, because next to the USA and Germany, China is our largest part of the Dead Age playerbase. More infos about our team will come in the next news.
What else have we done? An important part of the storyline is managed (some mean ideas ^^), many Ui, rooms in the base and and lots of loot locations. Human trafficking has been implemented to get the important random survivors with money or by using quests, which are needed for conquering territories and working in several bases. The very fast conquest system on the map is inspired by the classic Defender of the Crown, Me - Rayk, the designer, played it on Amiga 500 as a boy, who hardly wanted to go to school, but had plenty of Amiga games to play ;) . But there are numerous classes for the survivors so that they can be trained as soldiers or workers in the bases. But don't worry, Dead Age: Survivors remains an RPG with the new new strategy features. In addition to the random survivors, there is of course also a group of heroes with storylines. The portraits you can see are of the important story survivors Ava and Frank. - This time there will also be more conversations in the camp, as requested by many players. While Ava searches for his lost sister and brother, Frank has an even tougher fate, which will put his psyche to the test. This makes me realise that new values exist, namely stress and motivation. While strokes of fate and bad decisions can lead to negative values, in new rooms, the regeneration with an indoor pool and massage benches can repair the stress value and Trish's famous bar with lots of beer or wine repair the motivation. Just like in reality *cough*.
Release for Dead Age: Survivors will be back on Early Access first and should be possible by the end of 2024, as long as we don't delay too much in the next features like the more complex combat. More on the combat will be revealed in a few months, then also more about new skills like martial arts, axe and shield or two uzis

🧟♂️New Dead Age: Survivors gets turn-based Combat
We have exciting news for you. We have decided to go back to turn-based combat in Dead Age Survivors as well. Especially your feedback, which was very much in favor of turn-based combat, brought this turn.
Currently we are experimenting with a few features. It is not certain yet, but probably you will be able to move more freely on the small battlefield to critically attack your opponents from behind. There will also be some new tactics, so stay tuned.

We are now going to make the new troop combat more Crusader King style. You can see the numbers of troops slowly moving down as 2 leaders fight each other on the map, and the advantages and disadvantages of the troop types will also play a role. Your own troops can also get badly injured and have to be patched up by medics later. These changes make the troop battles go quickly, so it doesn't get tedious. Primarily, Dead Age Survivors continues to be an RPG with numerous quests and the survival features that will continue to be expanded and improved.

Besides that, you solve complex quests, loot resources, build several camps and battle against 7 greedy factions. those huge battles with up to 14 survivors included the party of three with the hero plus numerous other companions used to conquer or defend territories. In this battle you have a lot to do, because on the one hand you can rage through numerous enemies or strengthen your own troops with commander skills. Again and again we have the situation that players are upset about the permadeath, especially if the player dies first, for example, after 30-40 hours, it is frustrating. And I admit it honestly, I wouldn't feel any different after playing for so long.
For the next new Dead Age, we came up with a new idea that lowers the frustration, but you still remain mortal. Now we thought we'd offer the same option for Dead Age 2 Version 1.1.7
It works like this, when the player dies for the first time, a Revival Set is activated. this heals the player by 40%. Now comes a warning that says you need a new kit. In Dead Age 2 you can buy such high-tech kits only once in each U.S. Army base for a lot of dollars. (500 dollars) If you still die you can increase the healing rate of the revival set by upgrading the medicine and increase the amount by 1.
The first death is the worst, because many players were completely shocked by it, not even knowing that the game has a permadeath feature. So after the first death you are warned and the thrill remains. The idea was that you need to raise a lot of money to ensure the safety of a Revival set and this will need hard work for this.
But be warned that the story characters like Sarah, Tessa, Isa, Lance, Fernando can still die forever when they die. Here, however, we had thought of some characters that will later come to your camp when one of the story characters dies, but they no longer have a story. So be careful!
I hope that this will eliminate the frustration for you and still keep the survival thrill. For veterans, let's say that they can also sell the sets if they hate them, plus the veteran mode in the start options is a perfect way to set the game harder. I hope that 99.99 percent of players will be satisfied with this. :)

NEW: Since we are currently implementing Dead Age 2 on Playstation 4 & 5 and Xbox X and Xbox S, we have improved the controller controls.
NEW: We have slightly reduced the critical hit damage so that you are not too surprised when a strong monster hits your characters
We have reduced the block chance of many zombies, especially in the later levels. So that you now have much better chances with one hit skills. However, there are still some specialists who are particularly good at blocking, here ranged attacks are recommended.
The chance of some skills was increased e.g. Brute Strike, Nerve Strike and Shock grenade
We increased the ranged combat chance from 75 to 80%. In the front row you have a 90% chance with a ranged weapon. (Remember that blocking only works against melee).
We have reduced the zombie skill "Swift", so you can hit with a ranged weapon with 60% (before it was 40%), but still melee is recommended against fast zombies.
We increased the level of enemies by 2 in later scenarios to compensate for the better hit chances.

At the moment we are working on the tutorial for the new Dead Age. Since the combat system is much faster now that it's in real time, you learn the basic options first. You have to react faster than before, but you still have the option of slow motion, for example, to have a little more time for the party members. Here's the updated list of what we're planning to include. NEW: Some community players have suggested to add a pause mode for players who want to have longer pauses in tactical decisions.
The next Dead Age will remain a role-playing game, but there will be more focus on strategy and some simulation.
There are several bases you can control and much more rooms e.g. cooking, farm animals or wild animals in cages for the hunter or traps for the defense of the bases.
You will be able to manage many survivors, which now have more attributes e.g. stress or motivation.
Small but also big battles with up to 18 survivors against waves of zombies, this time in real time in the style of Dragon Age 1 or Pathfinder with a pause mode option. But we want to develop also a slow motion mode in the style of Fallout. This slow-motion skill can only be used infrequently, so the game feels faster overall. Only if you look at e.g. the tooltips of the opponents the game can be paused to have enough time to read which tactics or buffs the opponent has. The community has also suggested that we include a pause mode, However, this mode will be a bit easier than the slow motion mode.
The focus on strategy is also reflected in the fact that you can conquer or defend areas. The clue is that up to 7 other factions can also conquer the territories, this can result in cool battles and sometimes an alliance with a faction is important to be able to exist at all on the battlefield. Besides, zombie hordes still want to have a say.
We are also trying to improve the storyline. The focus should not only be on other factions, but also bring the companions more into the action.
