Update 14 - Knuckles support, QOL changes and more


We implemented Knuckles Controller support!

New:



  • there are new hands and now you will see the hand when you take items and the animation of the hand will fit the taken item (most of them for now)
  • now you can put tower on the battleboard using any hand. Actually now any action can be done with both hands

  • now tower will no longer hang in the air when you release them - they will be forwarded to the trash bin. If you use knuckles then you can just squeeze them to sell (it will destroy it and return your money back)

  • to push the red buttons you need to click not just touch them as well as the arrow in the tower book
  • now it is almost impossible to touch two button in the 3d menu as it was before - so your choise is more evident
  • now the table intially will not be attached to you and you can attach and detach it to the default position when you want

  • now Castle health can be restored just in one click and the price will be shown for full repair, If you don't have enough money for full repair the health will be restored depending on the amount of money you have. If the Castle is in its full health then the cost will diplay 0.
  • new effects for bat's death.You can squeeze them to kill using knuckles.

  • animation command now will stop playing animation when you take them
  • menu boards and some other items will return to its place when you drop them on the floor

  • Orca has new broom - she is so happy about it that she will be do some cleaning on some other levels



Fixes:




  • fixed that the pushing Orca's statue was making sounds
  • fixed that the first row of tower on training level didn't change appearance when upgrading
  • fixed incorrect values for towers (lower than zero) on Training level
  • we remove the total amount of towers from the table
  • fixed that Castle health in Training level was taken from save, now it has the base value each time you load into level


Update 13



What's new


- new way of giving commands to Orca - just take the right statue with animation and she will do it. If you want to stop the process take it again



- watch button on hand now calls for 2 more buttons: one for turn on/off the tower health widgets and the other is to turn/off the range outline of all towers (mind that there is no function for it in the Castle for now)



- now enemy's damage is dependant on the number of the wave: with each wave enemy's damage will increase on 0.2 point for walking enemies and for 0.1 for bat and mage - this damage will apply to both the castle and the towers. Good reason for upgrating them!

Changes:



- increase tank's base damage to 2
- increase bat's bombs base damage to 3
- increase orcs with hammer damage to 1.1
- decreae orcs female with stone damage to 0.9
- increase orcs with hammer and shield damage to 1.2
- increase orcs viking damage to 1.2
- increase money for victory in Minesweeper to 20 gold
- completely change AI logic for all orcs - the way they attack towers and the Castle, they way they are walking to the Castle
- now mage's attack are more precise and his animation cannot be stopped by freezing tower
- change all AI for Orca - both the one is Castle and all other battle maps. In future she will be able to perfom some additional actions on the battle map (not only holding a billboard with wave results)
- the towers on demonstration table now change appearance too if you buy upgrade in the shop


Fixes:



- fixed that the acher could sometimes spawn on waves 1-10
- fixed navigation on Road to Magic map for correct pathfinding
- fixed navigation on mage's village, added grass near Castle
- fixed enemies stuck in textures on spawn on some maps
- fix navigation on Road to Arena
- fixed arrows of Arrowed tower didn't disappear if they face the end of shooting range when no enemy hit
- now the castle health cannot be lower that 0
- fixed that towers didn't react to Mage movement
- optimization for all pressable buttons
- other minor fixes

Update 12



What's new


- now all towers except cannon upgrade their appearance when you upgrade their level up to 5

Changes:


- now you can teleport with both hands
- now you can see the health of each tower (there will be an option to turn it off in future upgate)
- on "Road to Magic" map we made it possible for enemies to go backwards to find another exit if you block its main path on spawn
- removed the burning effect for bats
- now freezing towers and flaming towers will not try to freeze and flame the corpses (in most cases) and the death animation will be played correctly
- make the freezing tower unfreeze them if an enemy dies during freeze
- the hand that hinted the Orca's management (dance, clean, push) as well as the actions on the watch was temporary removed as we're going to change the way you give command to Orca
- options menu was removed


Fixes:


- fixed that in Forest Level the shop opens itself
- cleaned up some old and prototype assets
- fixed lava collision on training level so enemy won't rise up in the air but die as it should be
- fixed that the death animation didn't play for tank
- fixed that there was incorect health amount for archer
- fixed that the tanks speed was higher that it should be
- fixed that the transition from one location to another could do twice and on wrong level if you start next wave too fast after completing the previous
- fixed that orcs' health was no updated (visually) on spawn (it happened after the previous update)
- fixed bat's collision so it no longer can block orcs movement
- change the default shader for wall towers
- some polishing in code

Update 11



Here is the Enemy Book with basic information about all the enemy types you meet in the game, its base health, damage, wave they stat to appear, etc.

Mind that with each wave enemy health and money you got for their deaths increases.

It stands near the weapon book in the Training level.

The book is not yet localized - it will be done later.

P.S.: there could be some more changes to the enemy book in the future

Update 10



We are glad to announce that we're back to the development of Defendion and going to bring it to release as soon as possible!

What's new in the update:



  • now you can practice the upgrade of towers on the training level. There is an Upgrade shop there near the battleground table.
  • the weapon book is now placed to the right wall and there is a new standing for the future enemy book
  • now you can see the changes of the health and damage of towers in the weapon book with each upgrade - there is new arrow button in the book


Other:



  • migrated on the engine version 4.21 and fixed all the problems it provoked (really hope that all)
  • fixed that the damages amount was default for upgraded towers (cannon and arrowed wall), if the tower shot too close to the enemy
  • fix some overlaping localized text

Update 9


New enemy


Energy Mage for Mages Village map - he sucks energy form the ground and converts it to the damaging balls. He attacks ony your towers and if there's no towers he will damage the Castle.
His base damage is 3 points. Base health is 7. He attack from the far, he doesn't walk but flies from one tower to another, his energy allowes him fly through his friends. Only death can stops him as he has resistance to the freeze.

Towers upgrade


Now you can upgrade all your towers and the Casle using the Shop.
Just overlap your hand with the item you want to upgrade (they show you the level you will be) and then click to buy.


Level of upgrade is not limited for now. The appearance of the towers stays the same - it will change depending on the level next update.

What happens when I upgrade the Castle?


The health of the Castle will be increased to +5 for each level, that is level 1 gives you 15 health, 2 - 20, 3 - 25 and so on.

What happens when I upgrade the towers?


the health of the tower will be increased to +3 for each level and the damage of the tower will be increased to "base damage multiplied by the level" (except freezing wall).
Example: Base damage of the arrowed wall is 1.2 and base health is 5. Level 1 gives you 2.4 in damage and 8 health, level 2 - 4.8 and 11 and so on.

Can I downgrade the towers?


No

Other:


- the castle's health is no longer an integer, although you will still see the whole number, this is done to calculate the damage more correctly
- archer damage is decreaed to 0.5 points
- now you can see tower level numbers on the table
- fixed teleport issues on Mages' village map

Update 8


What's new


This update provides you with a new map for waves 26-30. This is a mages' village.
There is no new enemies in this update for the village (the rotation of mobs is the same as for 21-25). Next update the enemy for this location will be ready and now you can enjoy catching the bats (we hope you like it)

Fixes


- fixed the bug when in training level you couldn't take the bat in your hands (when you start the training wave and they fly to the castle)

Changes


- we change the rotation of enemies - now it is not cycled like before. If you go further the last available levels for the waves (now it's further than 30) the last waves rotation will be repeated forever (before the rotation started from the beginning)
It is temporary. Later when all levels will be ready we change it.

Update 7 - Road to Magic


What's new


- new location for waves 21-25.
- new enemy for the location - bats
They are flying enemies, so you cannot kill them with usual towers you have.
You should catch them - just squeeze your hand and release - they will die.
- bats are represented on the demonstration table in the tutorial room so you can train in catching and releasing them. They are also added into the rotation for training level - so you can catch them when they fly.

Changes


- increased the amount of money for the minesweeper win (from 5 to 15)
- we change the way the enemies spawn - the higher the waves the more enemies will spawn, also now 3 enemies can be spawned simultaneously.

Fixes


- fixed bug when enemies could attack after death (for example, the archer continued shooting). Zombies are bad idea.
- the AI of Ork representative rewritten so he will behave himself more correctly. Fix of animation will be in the next updates.
- some adjustments on all the maps connected with the changes of AI

Update 6


What's new


- new location for waves - 16-20 - Arena. This is the place of tanks - big and strong warriors.
This is the last enemy which existed in the game before maps updates. Starting with the next update there will appear new ones.

- we replace the small servants with the big one on the maps - Road to arena and Arena itself.
Why? It was rather good to watch like little humans go forward and back, minging the ore and bringing the sack to the castle, but as the level of enemies grows and the more towers was placed on the battlefield they became a problem. If you build mazes - they go into these mazes and blocked the way, if you block their way they damaging and destroy your towers - so that's why we decided to make them more real - and they will not bother you from defeating the castle on high levels anymore (they are still small on the 1-10 waves maps)


Fixes


- change some movement logic of enemies when colliding with each other so we hope that they will be smarter and could continue movement without stucking

Archer



- the fire rate of archer was descresed to 1.5 (one arrow in 1.5sec)
- the arrows were made more bright, so you could notice them
- the fly speed of arrows were reduce twice
- added sound of shooting
All these changes to archer should help you to identify her shooting and to decide what to do.
Notice that she is a long range enemy so she can shoot the castle from a distance if you block her way. If she reaches the castle, she will make several shoots so try to avoid it.

In future


- there will be a map with all your conquered lands and you can return to previous maps to play there any waves
- there will be cutscenes before transition to the new map (now there's just music)

Update 5 - Road to Arena


New


- added new location for waves 11-15 - A Road to Arena - this is the place of archers. Also, you can see the next location enemies - tanks. They will appear later.
- we changed a bit the first location (near the Castle) - but they are not all the changes (more coming)

Fixes


- fixed that after loading save Flaming towers spawning instead of freezing ones
- fixed that after loading save the rotation of the tower was that of its initial placement not the changed one. Now when you launch the game the rotation of the meshes will be 0.0.0 as there is no information in save-file about your previous rotations. Just rotate them as you want and next load will be ok
- we turn off the world border (temporarily while investigating a bug)
