Update 4 - Forest



We decided to divide big updates into not big ones and here is one of them.

What's new


You are a conquerer so you need to capture new location. You founded a castle there and have to defend it - 5 waves will be enough to break enemies. After that you will proceed to the next location.

So this update contains new map - Forest which will be available after 5 waves.

And we made a system of changing your location and enemies on it.

The runner you could see after killing orcs actually from Forest area so this is her native location where she feels fine and she doesn't like that somebody trying to occupy her home. She will gently try to bother you - no physical hurt, only mental.


Other:


- added second servant for mining ore and the second ore on the forest map - now you need more towers and more money (you still can earn a bit by playing minesweeper in the castle)
- now the servants start their work just with the start of the location (no waves binding) - so they just will go back and forward mining money for you.
- the servant now appear with the pick instead of finding it at location
- now the shooting range of the towers is more visible
- we change the enemies spawn rotation to suit the new system of location
- we temporary remove the archery woman from the first mobs rotation as she is a rather strong enemy and she will be added later with her own map
- ajusted volume sound of mining (a bit)
- added advanced map boundaries so you couldn't go further than necessary on all maps but Forest


Fixes:


- fix the possibility to start a new wave just right after the previous start of the wave
- fixed sound of orc representative on the map - now you can hear him from the correct side. We know about his strange behavior - it will be fixed later as well as his animation.
- we also fixed some bugs which you couldn't know if you didn't play the test version :-)

Future updates

Hello everyone!

It's been some time since the previous update so we want to inform you the next one is planned for September. Probebly we can manage it by the end of August and if not - September for sure!

What to expect?
Definitley new enemies and a piece of...hm...plot... some change of current mechanics and more.

Don't forget to share your opinion of the game in the review and tell us about bugs in the steam discussions or e-mail.

Update 3

NEW:
- Added teleportation on all level! You can use both thumbstick locomotion or thumbstick press to teleport - better combine for more effective and fast movement but it's all up to you and your comfort

- Added "Book of weapon" - a book that contains all information about defensive structures, its stats and characteristics (though now only level 0 as the upgrading of weapon not implemented yes but when we do it the book will contain information about all levels.
The book can be found on the training level.



- New epic music for the battle! ta-taaaaaaaa

- Now zones where you cannot put the structures visually defined on the battleboard - those spikes are awesome!



FIXES:
- fixed bug that sometimes you cannot put anything on the battleboard after full clearing it in the cells that were occupied before
- fixed that it was possible to put structures into upper cave - right inside the texture
- fixed that sometimes arrowed wall throw enemies away instead of damaging them
- fixed in mini-game minesweeper when after automatic opening of the cells the mark that was on the deleted cell stayed there
- corrected navigation modifiers around the areas where enemies should never go
- corrected the points in the castle on the battleground so that most of enemies should go to the central gate

OTHER:
- damage of arrowed wall was increased from 1 to 1.2
- health of cannon was increased from 5 to 6
- optimization of the Castle and Minesweeper

Hotfix 2.1

Fixed forever incompleted tutorial. That voice sounded each time you completed the wave. Hearing voices is a bad thing so we've fixed that but you should listen to it only once and never again after that.

Corrected the update of the Leaderboard in Minesweeper game when you have the same time over and over again. Now if the current time is equal to your best time - the LB will update with the current result. So if someone has the same time before you, you will be higher in place. If someone took your place just repeat (or decrease) your result to be the first.

Update 2

When you start playing the game you may run out of money really quickly and the only way to get more money was to kill mobs and wait for servant to mine something during the wave. Or you may sell the weapon but then you won't be able to kill mobs to get money from them....

That's why we made another way of gaining gold in the game - you don't even need to be on the battleboard map.
Instead of entertaining with the captive try to win the minesweeper!
Yes.
It is traditional minesweeper in VR!

Some FAQ:

The most convenient way of opening the cells is with your hand - just touch the cell and press click.

When you near the Sapper-board you will see that some items is attached to your left hand - it is a Flag - to mark the bombs - and the question.

All other things are pretty the same - put all the Flags and open all the cells without explosions.

Each victory will bring you 5 gold - not much but better than nothing.

There is a leaderboard - and you can compete with other player who is faster. Only your best result will be written in the Leaderboard.



So what else?
- some minor fixes of gameplay
- fixed some localization issues
- some adjustments to AI (will they be a little smarter?)

P.S.: there is one new achievement!

Hotfix 1.1

Really hot!!!

Fixed an issue in HTC vive and WMR helmet when you couldn't play the game as it was paused from the beginning and couldn't unpause itself.

Update 1!

So this is the first update in Defendion. We've been preparing the update for long enough and changed a lot too. For those who opt in the test branch it is not a surprise, but let's summarize all.

Castle



First of all, we remade the entire castle - just completely changed the map.

Now it is a full-fledged and large throne room with chairs, tables, torches, knights (iron) and, of course, a throne. At the moment this is the first place where a player appears (in the future this will change, as the story cutscene will be added at the beginning)

The game now has the soundtrack, which sounds in the castle and which the captive dances to. The commands that can be given to Orca remain unchanged, but we changed the way the commands run, but more on this later.





Training



Secondly, the level of training (tutorial) has been completely remade. Now it's a room inside the castle with interactive tables, where you can see and try to do that or another action in the game. "Live" hands will show how to do it.




We added a demo table that demonstrates all types of structures and their work, it also spawns mobs and they go from the right side of the table to the left. With each mob killed, their level rises very quickly and you can see how weapons kill them and use it on the main map.



A training table on which you can try real defense on a small map without losing money and inventory, remained almost the same (except common for all levels changes)




Controls



We also changed the controls and removed the hand-menu: instead of the pointer that was used before, all the elements are now interactive - so you have to touch them to press the buttons, and in order to avoid accidental clicks there are windows confirming certain actions.

Interactive elements are also done in order to be conveniently managed from any touch controllers. By the way, Defendion has standard Oculus Rift and HTC Vive support and now it supports Windows Mixed Reality - everything is tested. Also for the last two, the position of the hands has been corrected - so that the hands in the game are felt more real.



Now you purchase the item when you take it from the table, and sell item - by moving it to the basket.

We heard the feedback of the players and made it possible to rotate the structures after installation on the battlefield - now you can organize defense more quickly - simply by installing the structures on the field and then rotating them towards the mobs. This also can be done during the battles.

There is no opportunity to improve the structures and the castle yet, but it will definitely be implemented in the future.



New enmeies


There are 2 new evemies in the game - a tank and a runner.

Tank





A tank has much more basic health compared to the usual Orc. And he looks more impressive and bigger than others. But he goes slower. He attack with a hammer or a hammer with a shield. It is easy to notice him and plan your defense. Since it will take a long time to kill him, probably the best practice is to freeze and surround him with other structures with the possibility of passing between, otherwise he will destroy your weapons.
You will not see him during the first several waves, otherwise it will be rather difficult to win, but be prepared - starting with 5 waves he will appear.

Runner





A runner has very little health, but she runs very, very fast. So quickly that only the flaming wall can inflict damage on her. The time of freezing is reduced for her. She has daggers and she can be called an avenger, because she has a chance to appear only after you kill any orc.

Main map



The changes on the main map, where the table with the battlefield, is not so much and mostly visual - it's lighting, and new buildings (for example, towers with flags - which, by the way, will be included in the gameplay in the future), the textures in many meshes have changed , fixed geometry, added information about the money that you own directly on the battlefield, torches, etc.

Also, the adjustments to the gameplay, the spawn rotation of the mobs, and a few adjustments to the balance (both for old and new mobs) have been made - now the waves should go more dynamically, although you may become more likely to lose if you organize the defense poorly.

In the future this map will undergo further changes.



Other


— added german localization
— optimization (reduce polycount, fixed geometry)
— many many different fixes, from flying hair to incorrect numbers (for example, the beginning of the game with 2 waves) - the description will take too long, so you just have to believe that the game has become much better :-)

Upcoming content


We are working hard on our first update now and we wanted to let you know that we have a test branch in steam which is opened to everyone who owns the game.

You can see all upcoming changes to the game there earlier than anyone.

The main branch includes thoroughly checked content and the beta branch includes upcoming content and sometime bugs.

All saves should tranfer between main and beta branched without problem.

So here is little checklist what the first update will surely include:
- huge visual upgrade (we'll be glad to hear your feedback)
- changes in the training level (you don't have to listen to her anymore - just do whatever you want + some additional content)
- German localization (interface)
- some new interactions

This is not the full list - just some main points.
