Demon's Mirror

Demon's Mirror - October 18th 2024 Patch

Demon's Mirror is taking the world by storm, and these days it's hard not to notice! It seems like everywhere you look, people are embracing the spooky vibes of the game. Earlier this month, my neighbors started putting up Demon's Mirror lawn decorations of scary werewolves, ghosts, and ghoulish creatures. Heck, even the tree in my yard is looking rather grotesque these days!

Wait. That... that might just be a dead tree in my yard. Bummer.

Either way, we've got a fresh set of Demon's Mirror patch notes coming your way. Take a look!

  • Make sure you can target enemies after resetting the game during a battle with an enemy that has Taunt.
  • Updated the Weak to Essence/Willpower buff descriptions to mention the "number of tiles in the chain".
  • Updated the Zeal buff description so it says it doesn't modify junk chains.
  • Fixed the One Step Ahead card so you only get the bonus from enemies that are attacking.
  • Fixed chain tooltips so they show the correct length when chaining void and caltrop tiles when you have Zeal.
  • Give money as a reward after the 3rd boss, when it's not the end of a run.
  • (Minor spoiler) Updated the art for the secret bosses (they’re now blue).
  • Changed the french translation for Trinket from Amulette to Bibelot.
  • Fixed the starting money for when the Materialism modifier is enabled and you start a new game as a different class than the one that was loaded (the starting money was getting set to 0!).
  • Modifiers, Deck, Pause button, and current Trinket tooltips all now function on Draft Relic Screen.
  • Cards and Trinkets are marked as encountered when they appear as rewards, shop items, or event options.
  • Cards spawned by gizmo cards are now ignored by the card mastery system.
  • Don't display cards that cannot be mastered/discovered in the Not Mastered and Undiscovered filters of the cards compendium tab of the Logbook.
  • Fixed a bug where tiles might overlap during the Trickster King battle by adding a delay to when all the fake tiles are destroyed.
  • Added a "Chain Is Too Short" error message popup.

  • Changed the font for the event description to the default/fancier font.
  • Reduced the wavy effect of the event mirror's material.
  • The Nightmare Eater event no longer immediately closes after you choose to give it a starter card.

  • The ALL_CARDS achievement can be unlocked now.
  • Liquid fire tiles (the tiles spawned via the Warn Horn trinket) now chain their damage if they chain-explode each other.
  • Fixed the damage/power value in the description for liquid fire tiles.

  • Changed the Unknown modifier to be worth 2 modifier/difficulty points instead of 3.

Demon's Mirror - September 18th 2024 Patch

Hi there Demon's Mirror fans! We've heard your feedback and have a bevy of fixes and changes coming your way. The biggest of them is the addition of VSync! All this time we were so focused on syncing our horizontal lines, we never stopped to think about the vertical ones. This madness ends today.

Check out the patch notes below for every juicy change, but while we've got you we'd greatly appreciate it if you could leave a positive review for the game on Steam! Steam reviews have a massive impact on surfacing games to others, so in lieu of a guerilla "street team" marketing initiative, we'd love your review! Every thumbs up counts!! Thank you!!!

Patch Notes (Sept 18, 2024)

1. Added a VSYNC setting

2. Card Fixes and Tuning:

  • Surge: Fixed its draw effect so it only triggers when you have enough essence.
  • Fortify: Its bonus power should save correctly after closing and reopening the game.
  • Short-Tempered: Changed its upgrade so it costs 1 less AP instead of giving +1 STR.
  • Howl: The upgrade now gain Retain instead of lowering its cost.
  • Injure: Increased its base damage to 4.
  • Slam: Increased the amount of damage to 7(10).
  • Lowered the base damage of the Wolf's Strike card to 3(4).
  • Pet Peeve: Increased the amount of tile damage it does to 4(7).
  • Lowered the amount of tile damage the Hush card's upgrade does from 8 to 7.
  • Growl: It now transforms tiles into shields instead of swords.
  • Graceful: Now spends all your Essence.
  • Charged Fireball: increased upgraded base damage from 5 to 6.
  • Booming Voice: Lowered the amount of damage it deals to 9(12).
  • Fixed the improvise card so you won't be offered Improvise as a choice in the cards to add to your hand.
  • Adaptable: Removed the level requirement.
  • Prey: Changed its upgrade to give more Zeal (60%) instead of more Vulnerable.
  • Taunt: Removed the level requirement, and increased the amount of Barbed it gives to 4(6).
  • Jumpy: Lowered the amount of Barbed you gain to 3(5) to balance out the Taunt card.
  • Counter Argument: Increased the base damage card to 4(7).
  • Ruthless: Changed it so it costs 1 AP, spends 10(6) Essence, and gives 1 Inflate.
  • Scrutinize: Changed its upgrade so it gains Retain instead of increasing how much Willpower is converted to Essence.
  • Resilience: Increased block gained to 6(9).
  • Opportunist: Increased the base amount of block gained to 4(5), and DEX no longer affects the amount of block stolen from enemies (The Brain elite battle made this card almost worthless).
  • Deterrent: Increased the amount of block gained to 5(7).
  • Tactical: Lowered its AP cost to 2.
  • Recall: Fixed the Scarred buff so it will multiply your Strength as barbed damage based on the number of stacks of Scarred that you have.

3. Trinkets:

  • Reward Card: Fixed it so it will show up as a reward or in the shop.
  • Disc Dynamo: Fixed it so it triggers at the end of the turn.
  • Shop trinkets will show up for sale in the shop again.

4. Enemies:

  • The Seed of Corruption clones will no longer gain shield on their first turn, and their intents have been modified so they scale their strength over time.
  • Don't trigger certain enemy buffs unless they're being damaged by a character attack or damage from the board. This prevents things like Shock and the Hot Potato from ruining some fights.
  • The Trapped Hatred enemy now adds Doom cards to your deck instead of Dark Embrace, and they should attack more often.

5. Other:

  • Added a fix so the Hydra head should no longer produce errors when Stunned.
  • Increased the size of the shock damage and apply shock VFX.
  • Changed the Wolf's 3rd Willpower choice to give a bit less Surging (70, 90, 110, 130, 150)
  • Fixed tooltip for Upgrade-A-Card option in shops not being shown when using non-mouse input.
  • Added a skip button to the Intro screen.
  • Make sure skip intro actually skips the intro instead of opening the pause menu after you’ve won a game and returned to the intro screen.
  • Added skip/fast forward buttons to the credits.
  • Two of the same scrolls should no longer be offered at campfires.
  • Fixed a crash related to some peripherals like the Razer Tartarus V2 keypad.
  • Removed support for joysticks (gamepads are still supported) since a lot of the input issues reported were for devices that were being recognized as virtual joysticks.
  • Added code to prevent errors with certain key inputs.
  • Added code to prevent some errors that would happen when Steam didn’t initialize correctly.
  • Fixed the Modifier Level stat in the Log->Player Stats screen.
  • Added the translations for the FYI message in the Modifiers screen. This is the message saying the screen is only modifiable from within the character select screen.
  • Fixed the Strange Maze game breaking after opening the map during the event's mini-game.
  • Fixed how cards show their modified AP cost and power number in the description when you have the Resonance Crystal trinket. The card's cost will appear orange since it costs more than it should, and the power amount in the description will appear green since it's "boosted”.
