0.7.84 — Wanogah and Dorg update, level optimizations



Hello, Volunteers!

We have released a new patch.

New features and updates



  • Wanogah: added two new attacks(gas cloud and toxic bombs); wanogah can get on the walls and attack from a distance, you can make it go down with ranged weapons or stones..
  • Dorg: they have a chance to start biting your leg(QTE event). We would like to point out that current version does not have final animations and will be improved later. Extra animations need more testing and some changes to be used in multiplayer, they will be added in the future patches.
  • Saves: we have turned on the Steam Cloud saves.
  • Optimizations:
    — partial optimization of assets on many locations;
    — improved optimization of the following locations: Oasis safezone, Ray-1, Hospital, Radar Station “Dome”, Southern Bay Piers.


Fixes



  • Meds, food, water, etc add a percentage of the parameter without any regard to the perks which increased them — fixed.
  • Numerous localization fixes.


Answers to frequently asked questions



When will optimization be improved?

We are constantly working on optimizations. At the same time we have started analyzing all the aspects of the game to find the most performance heavy items to improve the situation.

When will you add new quests?

We are working according to the roadmap we have posted earlier. The roadmap describes all the patches planned until the end of April.

Soon we will post the next roadmap, where we will describe the following changes and periods of the development. It will contain information about main quest and side quests. We will start working according to that roadmap after the last patch described in the previous one.

When will you add more space to the personal stash or make team stashes?

We have described the problem we encountered with the infinite stashes. Many people experienced problems with performance and multiplayer connection due to too many items in the stash. This problem was not solved yet. It will be added to the next roadmap and we will make it a separate task to leave extra time for the programmers..

The same can be said about the team stash and possibility of adding it into the game.

0.7.80 — Grutch update, new combat animations, location updates and more



Hello, Volunteers!

New patch is live. Grutch AI update, new combat animations and several other changes we will describe lower in the text.

New features and changes



  • We have updated grutch — it has new attack types and debuffs during the fight, be careful dealing with them.
  • There are new attack animations for player character — we have added new strike animations when you move to the sides..
  • Safe zone “Oasis” was updated.
  • You can trade with all NPCs in the safezone “Oasis”. But they have less goods for sale compared to the trader. Don’t forget about Uncle Misha.
  • The models for ice modifications were changed. List of modifications: “Frio”, “Frio 2.0”, “Freezer”.
  • The location “Southern Bay Pier” was updated — new lootable objects, changes to the environment, the monolith and crafting bench were moved to the cinema; if you die on the territory of this location you will teleport to the fire there from the bunker.
  • The blueprints for modifications “Shoker” and “Radiator” can be found on the map.
  • All tasks in the journal have categories now.
  • If you have already learned a blueprint you will see that when you choose it in the inventory. If you already know the blueprint you can’t learn it again.
  • Rebalanced shotgun ammo recipe — it requires gunpowder and 100 scrap now.
  • The posters in your collection have subtitles when you look at them now.
  • Paranormal activities happening in different locations will be more scary. And we are not talking about stress meter of the character.
  • We have added a hyperlink to our steam forums into the main menu and to the ingame menu. If you have any problems or suggestions please post there everything, it will help us too.


We would like to point out that with each patch enemies are getting stronger. Remember that you can always tune the difficulty using custom options.

Hotfix — 0.7.77

We’ve cooked up a hotfix, which addresses some of the problems that were encountered in the previous patch. The full list below:


  • Aggressive enemy with a flammable weapon could ignite the player with a kick - fixed
  • Player wasn’t able to craft bullets - fixed
  • Some merchants throughout Oasis were not interactable - fixed
  • Merchants throughout Oasis sold some items for 0 Scrap that you could disassemble for Scrap - fixed, these items now have a price
  • Throwing Weapons (Grenades, Molotov Cocktails, Knives) did not appear in “Weapon” section of Backpack and Crafting Menu - fixed
  • You could gain EXP by hitting a dead enemy with a Throwing Weapon - fixed
  • A Player couldn’t open Inventory while on fire - fixed

0.7.75 - Brazilian Portuguese, Throwing weapons, Weapon wheel and more!

Patch 0.7.75 is here.

There is a new type of madmen, throwable weapons and lights, changes to the monster AI. Detailed list of changes can be found lower in the text.

We see a lot of comments about personal chest volume.

The changes made in patch 0.7.56 were the most logical and correct way to deal with the problem. The cause is that there appear technical issues when the stash or player inventory have more than a set number of items in them. This issue prevented players from playing together in coop. Players could not connect if the number of items was too high in of the player’s inventories or stashes. Another issue was that the autosave function took much longer if the inventory was too big.

We are still testing ways to solve these issues, but we will need some more time to do it right. Thank you for patience.

New features and changes



  • Localization to brazilian portuguese language.
  • Players can craft and use grenades, throwing knives, molotovs, flares, chem lights.
  • In the equipment menu players can use the hotbar for items, you can equip meds, food and water, and throwable weapons in it.
  • We have added new interface element, quick access wheel where you can choose equipped weapons and items from the hotbar.
  • New class of madmen was added. They use torches and may set player on fire. You can meet them at night time.
  • New light soldiers can set player on fire with the modified mace.
  • Marauders can set the player on fire with the molotovs.
  • New QTE mechanic to stop the burning when enemies have set you on fire.
  • General improvement of the AI — blocking, attacks, debuffs for the player.
  • Improved group fighting for the NL soldiers and marauders. They can surround players and attack together.
  • Changed the sound of the max stress level.
  • Added the sound of a new trophy.
  • Merchant in Oasis now has voice lines that activate upon interaction.

  • Problems with the texts in interface and on the road signs — fixed.
  • Small fixes in the russian and english localization.
  • Several fixes of flying objects and places where players can get stuck.
  • Rebalance, optimization and changes to the radius of the sounds.

Next patch will be out tomorrow. We need some more time to test and finish all the changes we have planned. There will be new types of weapons and enemies. Thank you for your patience.

New features and changes

Patch 0.7.68



Greetings, Volunteers!

New patch with the improvements for the marauders and New Light soldiers, custom difficulty and customization for the room.

Changes & Additions



  • Custom difficulty is now available when creating a server. You can change some aspects of the game the way you like it.
  • Marauders and New Light soldiers can use kicks now. It can counter you block or a heavy attack.
  • Marauders now use Molotov cocktails.
  • New light soldiers can use grenades and a new type of melee weapon (right now it is just a heavy weapon but in the next patch they will be able to set the player on fire).
  • Madmen kick attack was rebalanced. Previously they could use it even when the player used fast attacks, now they will only use it to counter blocks and heavy attacks.
  • You can buy some customization for your room in the Oasis shop now.
  • The rooms have player names in front of them.


Fixes



  • Boxes with crafting parts were still given as a reward for some quests — fixed.
  • No symbols on the road signs in some languages — fixed.
  • During the main quest in the Podzemka facility the trigger which opened doors did not work correctly — fixed.
  • In the last quest enemies did not spawn during alarm — fixed.
  • In the craft section the durability of the backpack and armor was negative — fixed.
  • Trophies could not be researched from lootable objects — fixed.
  • In some cases the posters did not appear in the room after being collected by the player — fixed.
  • Broken tools did not have any visuals to show their durability is 0 — now they become red when you can’t use them anymore for craft.
  • 15 places with wrong side of the stones or cliffs visible.
  • 6 places where enemies could get stuck.
  • 10 objects above ground.
  • 4 places where players could get stuck. A reminder, if you are stuck , please report the place and write /unstuck in chat. You will be teleported to a safe spot.
  • Changed the loading volumes in the P.I.T. to fix the falling through floor.

Patch 0.7.63

New patch is here!

We have improved madman AI, rebalanced some aspects of the ingame economy, changed repair system and many other changes and fixes, you can read the details below.

Changes & Additions




  • Trader item and pricing variety re-balanced.
  • Added Trader item rotation - items available for sale now change once a day (in-game).
  • Added new Traders outside of Oasis.
  • Quest (Main, Side and Daily) rewards re-balanced.
  • Re-balanced scrap received for recycling and used for item repair.
  • Changes to Weapon Repair system - you can repair items a limited amount of times (the amount is based on weapon rarity), and the durability itself represents amount of hits. Damage penalty happens on weapon break (zero durability).
  • Improvements to enemy’s “Sight” and “Detection” mechanics.
  • Madman improvements - new attacks, added variety, overall damage increase
  • Sapsi is now more aggressive
  • Respawn rate of all the enemies in the “Hospital” location was increased.
  • Creature Trophies now can be “Researched”, which increases the creature’s rank in Monstrum
  • You can now craft Bullets - the item recipe and ingredients are sold by Mikhail (chance to appear in rotation)
  • Backpack tier 3 recipe added - you can find it in “Chernovsk” location.
  • Unseen before paranormal entities and events now roam the Island.
  • Some mod ingredients now spawn more often.
  • Recipes for Tier 2 - Tier 4 Armor and Mods reworked
  • Enemies now no longer drop “Boxes of Scrap”
  • Locked chests now have a bigger rate of having rarer items inside.
  • Prologue reworked, Victor Ognin voice-over changes, some dialogue duration decreased.
  • Added new sound-based “scares”, which will now show up across the Island.
  • Enemies now enter the attack-specific animation by chance, not every time an attack lands.


Fixes




  • Localisation fixes and improvements
  • Level design fixes: more than 20 problematics spots fixed - places where a Player could get stuck, holes in the terrain, items flying in the air etc.
  • Sound fixes: Madman sound effects re-sampled and re-balanced in terms of volume; re-balanced volume and duration of UI sounds.

First Development Roadmap



Greetings, Volunteers!

We’re two weeks into the game’s release on Early Access, and we’d like to start this update by thanking each and every one of our players for their interest and support.

We understand that DESOLATE has a long way to go, and we decided to line out the roadmap for future updates, from now through April. These updates will feature enhanced AI, new enemy types and combat mechanics, as well as general game improvements.

Hotfix #3 - 0.7.58



Hello, Volunteers!

Last update had several bugs. We have prepared a patch to fix them.

Fixes




  • Quest “And the world will know”. We removed the need to power the station, but the button did not work anyway — fixed.

  • Some sounds were missing — fixed.

  • Some daily missions could be finished without killing monsters, but could not be reported back to the NPC — fixed.

  • Guns now drop from enemies who use them.

0.7.56 — Fixes, Rebalancing and Optimization

Next patch is already here.

Changes & Additions:




  • Changed the maximum number of item slots in containers to 63 - this is set to fix multiple server connectivity issues. If you had more than 63 unique items in your Stash, we highly recommend re-organizing it in Solo play, since any additional loot will disappear during online play.
  • On inventory overload, character movement is now 50% lowered.
  • You can now skip in-game dialogue.
  • Enemy’s stun rate lowered across all enemy types
  • Monstrum can now be accessed from the start
  • Character’s backward movement is now 25% slower
  • Game now automatically backs up save files every 10 minutes. Save files can be located at: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Desolate\Saved\SaveGames


Fixes:




  • Several crash and freeze-related optimisation issues fixed.
  • Fixed an issue with enemy’s HP bar disappearing in some cases.
  • If you needed a quest item, and took it out of a container, the stack but not the intended amount - fixed.
  • Fixed an issue which caused Bread recipe not to appear
  • Fixed an issue which caused items in inventory to render invisible upon resuscitation.
  • Fixed incorrect marker placement in “Subway” location.
  • Fixed an issue with menu buttons rebinding .
  • Fixed “Population control” daily quest description
  • Upon killing an enemy his neck stretched out - fixed.
  • High rank items can now be used for crafting recipes which require low rank items.
  • Fixed an issue where healing items were rendered invisible in “Hospital” location during the main quest.
  • Fixed a progression issue in “Meteorology station” during main quest, where the antenna counter reset on death. When you come back to the quest zone it will show the correct number.
  • Fixed an issue where some quests would show up as “Missing String Table Entry” during online play - if this issue persists, do not hesitate to contact us.
  • After modding a weapon its initial durability raised to 150%, then went back to 99% after the first hit - fixed.
  • Changes to the Radio Tower main quest - we temporarily disabled the necessity to power up the station, just to turn on the transmission.


  • Sound optimisation:


>Available sound channels now limited to 128
>Footstep sounds re-sampled, duration of sound while running 50% lower
>Some non-distinct sounds from certain animations were removed
>Footstep sound overlayed while turning - fixed
>Added priority to some sound classes.

  • Level Design:

>Location optimisation
>Workshop on “Garages” location was locked - fixed
>We locked down a northern part of the island that’s still in development, if you’re already there, we’ve left some ways to get back to the main area
>Levitating vegetables put back into the ground - 6
>Semi-transparent stones fixed - 7
>Terrain pits fxed - 3
>Possible places for getting stuck fixed - 4
>Items placed within other items or objects - 6.
