Use THEM to Survive on Granichny

Greetings, Volunteers!

These past couple of weeks were tough for us - between keeping up with the Closed Beta and preparing for release on Steam, our hands are quite full. And yet, here we are back with a new update, bringing you the latest on what’s going on with Granichny - and there’s a lot going on.

Today we’re going to shift our focus a bit - and delve deeper into different points of interest Volunteers will encounter during their shift on Granichny. Be sure to pay attention to your surroundings - these spots will definitely aid you in surviving the dangers that lurk around the island.

Granichny’s a big, sprawling island - so you’re gonna have a lot of land to cover during your assignment on the Island. It’s hard to keep track of all points of interest on the island. Fortunately, the Transponders are here to help!

Transponders are located on the top of radio towers, just like the one you see above. Upon activation they’ll update your map with every point of interest in a large area around it.

Make sure to activate every Transponder you’ll find - that way, you’ll get to see (almost) everything Granichny has to offer!

Almost everything on the island is out to get you, from crazed Madmen and Dorgs to dangerous Anomalies - so death is quite a common thing in Granichny.

However, with these wonderful pieces of New Light Technology, you’ll be able to resurrect near the closest Monolith around and continue your volunteer work! Keep in mind that after the Incident all the Monoliths broke down - so you’re going to have to repair and activate one in order to use it.

If you happen to find one of the many campfires (or any fires, for that matter) scattered around Granichny - consider yourself lucky!

The Campfire allows you to cook meals for you and your budding Volunteers from different ingredients found on the island, as well as craft healing items and other types of aid. From a simple dinner of grains and cooked meat to rubbing alcohol - use those recipes to ensure your survival.

Of course, you’ll also find new ones around the island to put into your ever-expanding cookbook - so there’s always something new to try out around The Campfire!

Since almost every part of Granichny is extremely reliant on New Light’s advanced technology, Workbenches are quite a common sight. Used for repairing and crafting different types of equipment, the Workbench is the place to go if you want to upgrade your weapons and armour. You can also acquire new weapon and mod blueprints, which allows you to expand your arsenal, as well as upgrade the weapons you currently have.

The Incident rendered all of the Workbenches on the island unusable, but with a bit of scrap metal you’ll be able to repair them quite easily.

***

The next update will be coming your way this weekend - and in that, we’ll dive deeper into the different weapons and mods you’ll use during your assignment on Granichny. Stay tuned!

DESOLATE IS COMING FEBRUARY 8

Greetings, Volunteers!

It’s time for a couple of important announcements:

First off, we’re excited to announce an official release date: February 8th - this date will mark the release of DESOLATE in Early Access.

You’ll be able to freely explore the ruins and forests of Granichny Island, filled to the brim with things to do and places to see.

A Prologue, Act 1 and Act 2 of DESOLATE’s main story will be available at launch, along with multiple side-quests and other activities. In short, there’ll be plenty to do in the game at launch - and it only gets better from here.

As for the second part of our announcements for today, we finally have a concrete answer for a question that’s been on everybody’s minds lately - What’s going to happen to those of us who purchased Beyond Despair before?

(For those not in the know - Beyond Despair was a Steam title, which is currently unavailable. It later became the foundation for DESOLATE.)

Starting on December 14, we’ll open up a link, through which you’ll get a FREE key for Closed Beta of DESOLATE. It will be automatically updated to the release key after. You’re going to have to log in through Steam on our website - and once the system checked that you own Beyond Despair, you’ll be given the key.

We’ll talk in way more detail about different elements and aspects of DESOLATE over the coming weeks, so be sure to stay tuned and follow our official Steam Page, as well as HypeTrain Digital on Facebook and Twitter for more info!
