- Players are now able to see how many presents (and pumpkins during Halloween) they have collected on the map when bringing up the keys list
Christmas Event 2022
Tis the season to be jolly, and we think you'll have every reason to smile (or scream!) during this year's DEVOUR Christmas Event, which will run from 8th December at 10am PST until 27th December at 10am PST. We're celebrating by giving players the opportunity to unlock a unique new outfit and a collectable festive robe, and enjoy an EXP boost. Once unlocked, both the outfit and robe will remain available to you after the event has ended.
During the event, players can unlock this chilling new outfit for Zara by beating any map on Hard or Nightmare, while playing as her.
To unlock this robe, you'll need to find and collect the 40 Christmas presents hidden across all 4 of DEVOUR's maps. Once unlocked, the robe will remain available to you after the Christmas event has ended. For players who unlocked this robe last year, they will need to collect the 10 presents on The Town map in order to retain ownership of the robe. (We apologise for any frustration this causes: it's related to some technical issues and not intentional!).
EXP Boost
Who said the holiday season has to be merry and bright? Take on the forces of darkness this Christmas and enjoy a 1.5X EXP boost until December 27th.
V3.3 Changelog
Added Zara unlockable 'Snowball Fright' outfit
Added 40 collectible presents across maps
Added unlockable Christmas robe
Fixed a bug with thunder volume for indoors and outdoors
Added Christmas theme to menu music
As we revealed in our previous post, we're currently working on our upcoming new map The Slaughterhouse, due for release in 2023. Keep an eye out here, on Discord and on Twitter for more details in future. We're moving as quickly as we can with development on it without sacrificing quality. We know you love more info, so here's another asset we've developed. Any ideas? (don't worry, we're not going DBD on you all!)
As we move towards the end of 2022, we'd like to take this opportunity to say how grateful we are for your continued support. For various reasons, this year has been a particularly challenging one for the DEVOUR team and we are grateful to you all for sticking with us. We are as excited as ever about DEVOUR and its future, and committed to bringing you all many more scares!
However you enjoy the holidays, the whole team at DEVOUR would like to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
We promised you a development update in November, and here it is! The DEVOUR team is hard at work putting together our new, upcoming map The Slaughterhouse, due for release in 2023. As we detailed in our previous Steam post, this one is taking a bit longer, and we'll give you an estimated release date as soon as we can. In the meantime, we're excited to show you some of the awesome work we've been putting into the assets, characters and environment:
We teased the shredder previously, and it's here again because we can't get enough of how gory it is. Any ideas what it'll be used for?
The oil can really shows how grungy The Slaughterhouse map will be, and it certainly won't be the only thing that's rough around the edges.
You can't have a slaughterhouse without a dark, creepy freezer, and there'll be plenty of chills to be had between the swinging carcasses.
What do you think these vents are for?
Here, piggy piggy.. You might not want to get too close to these guys. (Please note, this is concept art).
These gruesome slaughterhouse workers might not behave quite as you'd expect based on our previous maps. (Please note, this is concept art).
Nathan is ready to hunt you down. We think you're going to find his behaviour, sounds and animations just as terrifying as his appearance. (Please note, this is concept art).
We think The Slaughterhouse will be DEVOUR's most brutal map yet. There will be new mechanics, and we're returning to a smaller map size, so you can expect it to be visceral, bloody and claustrophobic. We want you to be shocked and terrified in equal measure.
Christmas Event
Similar to last year, we'll be doing an event over the holidays. This time you'll be able to unlock a terrifying, unique winter-themed outfit for Zara - we'll post with more details closer to the time.
Thanks again for your patience and support as we work on our next map. At some point in the near future we'll post some new info about Nathan's chilling slaughterhouse form, so you know more about what you'll be up against..
- The Halloween event pumpkin robe reward is no longer tied to the Halloween achievement (which has also been removed)
v3.2.3
- Fixed an issue where the lobby UI would still be visible after disconnecting from a lobby as a client - Fixed a method to start a map using a character that would normally be locked from use - Improved support for Samsung Odyssey VR controllers using new VR setting WMR Controller Type (only visible to users using Windows Mixed Reality as their OpenXR runtime) - Fixed an issue that could cause the game to lock up when returning to the lobby after a game
Halloween Event: Free Outfit, Pet System & More!
Trick or treat?
Here at DEVOUR, we're celebrating spooky season with our yearly Halloween Event, which will run from September 29th at 10AM PDT to November 1st at 10AM PDT as part of Steam's Scream Fest. Read on for further details of what to expect. In this update, we're also thrilled to bring you a brand new pets system, new outfits, and lots more!
Cultist Robe
For the duration of the Halloween Event, you can unlock this incredible, unique Cultist robe for free by beating any map on Hard or Nightmare difficulty while playing as the Cultist. The robe will also be available to purchase after the Halloween event has ended.
Pumpkin Robe
To unlock this unique cosmetic, you'll have to find 40 creepy Halloween pumpkins hidden across all 4 maps. If you already own the robe from last year's event, you'll need to collect the 10 pumpkins from The Town map to retain ownership of it. This is because the pumpkin robe is now linked to a new Steam achievement. Once unlocked, you'll still be able to wear the robe after the Halloween event has ended, because at DEVOUR we firmly believe in celebrating Halloween all year round!
EXP Boost
We know that a lot of you will want to play DEVOUR over the Halloween period, so we're enabling a 1.5x EXP boost for the duration of the Halloween Event!
Pets
If Azazel has minions, why can't you? DEVOUR now has a pets system! You can now purchase your very own devoted follower to accompany you while you're banishing demons.
New Outfits
Introducing two brand spanking new outfits for April and Nathan:

Finally, a huge thank you from the whole team for all the support we've received recently - it doesn't go unnoticed. Stay tuned.
Real talk: the COVID-19 pandemic affected us all in one way or another, and for health related reasons, some of our core team have been forced to take a step back from the process of developing DEVOUR. This means that there will be a significant delay in releasing our next map, which was scheduled to drop this September. Rest assured that we're still working on the map, but we're now looking at a release date of sometime in 2023. Since we're delaying the release of the new map, we're also delaying the price bump.
We know this will come as a disappointment to many of you. We haven't made this decision lightly, and we ask for your understanding and patience as the team adapts to the situation and makes the decisions necessary to ensure the wellbeing of its developers and the longevity of DEVOUR. We're incredibly proud of the fact that within 18 months, as a small, independent team, we've released 4 separate maps, as well as full VR functionality and a Supporter's Edition.
We're still highly committed to bringing you more DEVOUR-themed frights - it's just going to take us a little longer this time. Until then, we're going to keep you updated on the development process by regularly sharing what various members of our team are up to behind the scenes.
We're still here, we're still super excited about the future of DEVOUR, and we're still grateful for our amazing community of players, fans and content creators. Thank you all.
The whole team is thrilled to announce that the Supporter Edition of DEVOUR is available now!
Many of our players have been asking for ways to further support the development of DEVOUR, and we've been hard at work putting something together that we hope you'll enjoy. Check out what's included! Each item is exclusive to the Supporter Edition, and we think it's a frightfully good deal:
Kai 'Pyromaniac' outfit
Anna 'Fallen Angel' outfit
'Frostbite' flashlight skin
SIx stunning 4K desktop wallpaper images
Original DEVOUR painting by Jarel Threat (Digital Copy)
Official 26-page Game Design Document (Digital Copy signed by developers)
Official map floorplans
Again, we'd like to thank everyone in our incredible community for their support. We can't respond to it all but we see your streams, your art, your Tweets, your Discord engagement, and so much more. It's hugely appreciated and gives us the motivation and means to continue doing what we do best: bringing you hair-raising, pant-soiling, heart-stopping scares!
Did you know we recently unveiled full VR support for DEVOUR? Check out more info here!
Good things come to those who wait! We're excited to announce that DEVOUR is now fully VR capable! We know the DEVOUR community has been excited about the prospect of VR for the game and we've been working hard to bring full VR functionality to your favourite online co-op multiplayer horror.
For those who choose to play in VR mode, you will still be able to play with those who don't. And for those wondering about accessibility, you can play sitting down as well as standing.
We're also pleased to let you all know that we'll be participating in the Steam VR Festival which runs from July 18th to July 25th, with the game on sale at 20% off. Just a reminder that our Supporter Edition releases August 4th, and you can find out more about that here. We also have some more DEVOUR news coming soon, so please keep an eye out for that.
As always, we feel incredibly blessed with our amazing DEVOUR community, and we're so excited to see all the content we know you'll bring being chased by demonic cultists in VR!
