Demo's out!

Alright, I'll keep this brief...

Dialtown's demo is now live!

You can download it from the main story page via the download demo button. I playtested it a ton, but there's a lotttt of dialogue, so y'know, should you see any typos or bugs, feel free to report them and I'll patch 'em. Should be golden, though. Have fun!!!

Demo announcement + Teaser Trailer!

It's time.

[previewyoutube="WiASiZFqwtY;full"]
...or more accurately, in a few weeks, it will be.

Yes, folks, the demo is officially 100% finished, minus the final waves of testing! This'll be Dialtown's first true reveal to the general public, so I'm working hard to make sure that goes as smoothly as possible! Development is still on-going (full steam ahead!) and I'm excited to show off the full demo in less than a month! Here's a blurred picture of the TOTAL roadmap (aka, the entire game, bar nothing) showing how much of it is done (circled area is what's in the demo)

Yes, the demo allows you to meet/date three of the Dialtown dateable protagonists and explore town at your leisure. Exciting! Make sure to follow this page and wishlist the game, because soon: Dialtown ('s demo) will be here.

Watch the narrator mini-route here!

Alright, merry chrimbus, one and all. Here's 15 minutes of Dialtown footage, where you date a sock and get treated appropriately for it. I guess it's christmas related. Do people still hang socks up, and fill them with knicknacks? beats me, I'm just a dumb dog.

[previewyoutube="C_2ebKppwlk;full"]

anyway, enjoy 'n' stuff, thanks

Devlog 19/12/19 (Biggest devlog yet!)

Howdy, hey! Merry early chrimbus, everyone. Thought I'd write a devlog discussing the game, because gorsh, have I made progress. I'll break this down into a few headings for clarity.

KAREN'S ROUTE IS NOW COMPLETED:

Booyah! Karen's route is now 100%!

Her route is about the same size as Randy's, 6 endings, a few hours of content! This is big news on its own, but... Well, there's more.

MEET OLIVER:

With Karen's route in the bag, rather than spoiling any of his major scenes, or discussing her in detail, I'll (without further ado) introduce this handsome chap. Meet Oliver!

I'm working on his route right now (his assets are now done, his character track on the OST is just about done, finishing script/code right now! His route involves helping a strange goblin employee at a local cinema film a movie that'll save his place of work from financial ruin (bankruptcy, but with, like, phones 'n' stuff.) His route's already comin' along great, his character assets turned out beautifully, looking forward to telling his tale.

TOTAL PROGRESS:

Right, cat's dog's outta the bag: I'm about to show you an (admittedly blurred, you're not MEANT to be able to read it!) image of the COMPLETE* roadmap of Dialtown (*there's one route not pictured here.)

Essentially, what this is: is a COMPLETE summary of (most of) Dialtown, with the green box at the top representing the intro, and the 4 complete chapter 1 routes below it. There's also a 5th "mini" route that's fairly linear and acts as a dumb side quest the player can do in town, but you'll discover that for yourselves in game. There is a full 5th route not on the chart, but that's only for players who complete the other four routes and want a finale, bring Dialtown's story to a close and explaining why the world is the way it is.

As always, anything in green is fully finished and ready to go, anything orange is missing code, but has assets/a completed script, red needs code/assets and needs scriptwork. As you can see, there's a lot of green. But, most importantly, that segways me into another announcement, the last and most exciting so far.

Demo!

Yes, there WILL be a free Dialtown demo coming to this page in Spring 2020. If you're wondering how large the demo is... Well, the roadmap has the answer. Anything on the roadmap that's within the white dashed line is what I'm aiming to include in the demo! Meaning, the demo should be at least an hour of content, maybe a good bit more, depending on how the next few months go. So, I'm one small side-route and less than half of another route away from the game being demo ready! Woot!

The next devlog will have a teaser trailer in it with a release date provided too. Exciting stuff.

Hope y'all enjoyed the update. I have eighteen GODDAMNED puppies that ALL need new contact lenses (that's 18 x 2 pieces of curved glass!!!!) so god DAMN, i hope this sells!!! See you next devlog (with the demo teaser trailer!) G'bye!

Here, I posted a thirty second video from Karen's route.

Hey, I'm workin' hard on the next devlog (big news!), 'til then though, enjoy this clip from route 2 (which has recently been completed!)

Feel free to lemme know what you think and if you like it... cool. Please alert the others of Dialtown's existence, thank you.

Devlog (9/11/19)

Hey, it's me.

Yeah, I'm aware this took over a month to write. No, the game's not dead. Far from it! Progress has been rampant and I've bought costumes for characters, finalized some more content, made major script progress.

I WAS gonna include a teaser trailer for the demo coming early 2020, but I realize that having a release date THIS early might be a bit cruel. Dec/January devlog will have a teaser trailer, no doubt. For now, let's meet Karen.

KAREN!

She's a printer. She works in a bank! She's really dissatisfied with her life and bored enough to do something stupid... like go on a date with you. A good friend of mine is modelling for her (she's not stock, that body belongs to a real human, not a stock-image 'human' clone, which are usually stored in giant vats of milk, when the cameras are off) and her head is a 3d model produced by another friend of mine.

Her route is similar in length to Randy's (longer, in parts) and if you'd like to see how it's coming along overall, here you go:

Here's a (blurred) full roadmap of her route, with each box representing a scene/choice, showing splits and endings. As you can see, there's no red on the chart, which I use to show that script content is missing. The script (containing dialogue, actions) is FULLY done, now only assets/code are being completed. The dotted line represents the demo content cutoff, meaning that all content for the demo is finished and ready to go! Hype.

I'd like to get to working on route 3 this December. For now, just know that progress is going great.

Major Devlog (25/09/19)

Hey, all. Lotta work been done over the last few days, so I thought I'd share this with you guys:

The Haps:

Yes, Randy's route is now done. It has 6 endings, all of which are awful complete, and just need ending cards to wrap them up with a bow! The route is being thoroughly torn apart tested by my (beloved) monkeys helping out with different parts of DT, and I'm very excited to unveil it alongside the rest of the game at a later date. (Demo in the future maybe?? Who knows???)

Also here's a link to an introduction of the DT protagonist:
[previewyoutube="dVk7yIQEH8I;full"]
Being a first person game, Dialtown doesn't SHOW the protagonist off very often, but I thought it'd be neat to show just how much work is going into the game. Yes, the head IS a 3d model and yes, the modeller absolutely nailed the model. (I actually did the texture myself, actually. Based the look off the Oghma Infinium from Elder Scrolls lore, if any of y'all are really into that.)

Anyway, hope you guys are enjoying the updates. Probs gonna take a few weeks to get my bearings before starting route 2, which'll be about as large and hopefully come out as well. Thanks and good luck!

Devlog (11/09/19)

Ello, all!

"What's up, dog?"

Well, for a start, rampant progress has been made on the first complete romance route, with 6 endings total, ranging from ridiculous to more ridiculous to... Well, I'll let you see in-game, come release day.

But, I DO have some footage to unveil. It's a minute of footage from Randy's fairground date:

https://youtu.be/2CW6LeDoYMM

Yeah, that music is OST, yes all pics of Randy were taken by me (phone-head pics included), yes the background moves, and the cabinet is a unique 3d model. Lotta work being put into making Dialtown a unique, incredibly surreal and fun experience!

Here's an overview of the different parts of Randy's route, shaded based on completion.

All of the green parts are fully playable and just being polished/playtested. All of the yellow parts have (most) assets completed, a complete script and I'm just working on remaining assets/code right now. I will finish the route some time later this month. (No, you're not meant to be able to read the writing itself, that'd just spoil the whole thing!!)

Thanks for reading, and have a good one, all! See you in the next devlog!

Small teaser: (menu system)

Okay, just thought I'd show off one of the menus I finished today:

Designed it meself, code 'n' all. I added two similar looking menus to character creation (for head-type and gender) but yeah! Happy with how it turned out ^^

Next update will be a MAJOR one, so hold onto your pantaloons! Thanks.
