Die After Sunset Brand New Mission - Cemetery
Welcome Back Defenders!
After our treasure hunt last week, we thought it was about time to show off another new mission coming to Die after sunset.
This time those darn Murkors have rigged some dynamite in a nearby cemetery and your goal is to to diffuse the dynamite before everything explodes!
There are 3 large boxes of dynamite, all connected to very long lines of rope. These are being lit up by the Murkors and your job is to protect the area to make sure they don't reignite it.
Although it is only 1 minute, they will swarm the area and you must make sure to not get carried away removing the Murkors. they might of lit up one of the detonating cords.
After 1 minute much like every other mission, you are rewarded depending on how many boxes of dynamite has been detonated.
A simple yet a cluster of fun to be had with this mission and another mission in the our pool of RNG missions to keep your gameplay fresh.
That is all for this week defenders. Until next time!

Get ready to blast into an action-packed adventure through time with Die After Sunset! The full 1.0 release is coming out later this year, and we have just released a brand new trailer to get you even more excited!
Since we launch in Early Access last year, we've been working on lots of changes, gearing up for the full release!
In Die After Sunset, Earth is under attack by aliens known as the 'Murkors', and it's up to you to lead the resistance against them. With three unique play styles to choose from, including sharp-shooter 'April', machine-gun spraying cyborg 'Rido', and the finger-lazor zapping 'Hune', you'll be able to take on these invaders in a way that suits you best.
Travel through time and save the world across five gigantic levels, each set in a different era, and fight off never-ending waves of Murkors in a sun-lit shooting frenzy. But beware, when the Murkors enter the shadows, they become stronger and scarier!
Each run in Die After Sunset is unique, with 19 in-game missions that are randomly populated every time you start a new run. Experiment with hundreds of item combinations to discover new ways to power up and become stronger than ever before.
And if you fall in battle, don't worry, death is only the beginning! Return to the fight, levelled-up and stronger with each new run! Use in-game currency, "Mukus", to power up your stats, grab new items, and unlock even more weapons and powers by completing challenges.
Die After Sunset is a vibrant roguelite shooter that offers never-ending target practice and adrenaline-fueled shooting frenzy. The full 1.0 release is coming out later this year, so keep an eye out for it on Steam!
Welcome Defenders to where it all starts - Waikiki Beach!
We thought that we would take a break from the road to 1.0 to share with you some awesome concept art and level design of our first level in Die After Sunset.
IN THE BEGINNING...
In the year 2019, you spawn into the home of golden sand, broken roads and rubber inflatables!
We wanted to make a common place where many people like to visit and a symbol of leisure and enjoyment and Waikiki Beach is a perfect start to that narrative.
POINTS OF INTEREST
On our map we have 6 points of interest that splits up the map which are all different based on the environment. The mission is of course inspired by the Hawaiian beach of Waikiki. The iconic Loulu palm trees, huts and bright blue water is what we tried to capture in our level.
WAIKIKI BEACH This is where you start on the mission to fight back the Murkors through time. There is plenty of beach equipment left on the shore and Murkors are already ready to stop you...
ABANDONED SHIP BAY Our main icon on this map is the wrecked ship found on the far right corner of the environment. Of course, like all ships, there is treasure to be found so make sure to explore it. The ship bay is linked to caves linking it to the large car accident area.
CRASH ACCIDENT this is more directly in the middle of the map where you will be visiting the most as it links to majority of the other places of interest and to the boss of the level.
SECOND LEVEL To add some variety, we wanted to add some vertical gameplay to the map. So we will have both walk paths and jump pads to keep your game flowing naturally... But, be careful you don't fall!
NORTH BEACH
As we were designing the northern beach area, we decided to create a fun space for missions that would feel like a secret hideout tucked away at the back of the map. To keep things simple, we added some beachy accessories and changing rooms, but who knows what other surprises we might have in store? Maybe we left some hidden chests around, or even perched them on top of some towering rocks for an extra challenge. The possibilities are endless!
DOCK AND MARKET
The highlight of this section of the map is the fish market building, complete with a mid-size interior. Plus, like any good dock, we've strategically placed shipping containers around the perimeter to keep the game flow running smoothly. And don't worry, you'll have no trouble navigating to the second level when you need to. It's all about fun and ease here at our market and dock!
UNIQUE FEATURES
The theme of Waikiki Beach revolves around the playful and whimsical nature of our game. Our iconic inflatables, often donned by the Murkors, are scattered throughout the map, embodying this lighthearted theme. We make sure to incorporate the setting and atmosphere into each map's unique theme.
That is all to be said today defenders. Stick around to see more exclusive concept art and content.
We have a great variety of missions that randomises in each level and play through. But we're happy to give you a sneak peak to a brand new mission coming very soon - Shootout!
WHAT DO I DO?
The mission can be found much like any other activity on the map. Which means luck will be involved, as all the missions are randomly generated. Once you have found the mission, approach the saloon bar and prepare to shoot some of those darn Murkors. Each Murkor you shoot will achieve points, 15 or 30 points to be exact.
And yes, even your friendly helpers can shoot the Murkors too!
IS IT THAT EASY?
Well not entirely. Some of us might be hitting bullseyes all the time, but you have to be careful not to shoot the dynamite which might pop up time to time. These will reduce 100 points that you earned so be careful!
With heavy losses comes with great rewards. We will rarely pop up a few moneybags as well as the Murkors. If you shoot at these bags will reward you with 100 points.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Once the timer is over, you will receive your prize depending on what score you get. The higher the score the more prizes is received.
Of course this isn't the only mission we have been working on so stick around!
Die After Sunset Road To 1.0 - Player Animations
It's that time again defenders for some more UPDATES!
Last time we looked at the enemy reactions and how they change based on the players actions. Now it is time to look at the characters animations!
NEW IDLE ANIMATIONS
One way to give our characters some more personality is to add some idle animations. These are triggered if you wait around for a while without moving, which will be relatively difficult considering Murkers will be chasing you a lot!
However, when you can activate these animations they really make the character feel more.....well human. This has been implemented to April, Hune and of course Rido as well!
NEW CHEST ANIMATION
Gone of the days where a box will magically open from a touch of a button. We have applied a new animation where the character will now crouch to unlock the box. It's the little things that increases our immersion!
CHARACTER'S HEAD FOLLOWS THE CAMERA
To help build on a more immersive 3rd person experience we felt it is really important to implement head movement depending on where you put your camera. This small feature makes the character feel more alive and helps align when your are dealing with those pesky Murkers.
This is just the start of all small changes that we are making in the road to 1.0 and we are excited to show you more.
Stay Tuned!
LAST CHANCE: Try Our New Updates Before They Go Live!
