Die After Sunset Road To 1.0 - Enemy Reactions

Nice to see you back defenders!

The Murkors are a large part of our game with so many different designs and characteristics. We felt like it was important to provide these little devils with some more personality. While we are changing up the enemies behaviour and weaponry, we would first like to show you an overhaul of new animations when they react to the players actions!

THEY REALLY DON'T LIKE YOU NOW!

We felt like the Murkors didn't show enough emotion when they are literally being shot at and seeing a heroic protagonist lay rest to there friends. So we have decided to make them more angrier than before. when you shoot or approach a Murkor, they can show their displeasure to you now, showing that your presence is not amusing to them at all.

ABILITIES WILL SHOW AN EFFECT

There are many different weapons and equipment that you will have at your disposal and each item will make the Murkor react to it. For example if you throw a stun grenade at some Murkors they will look classically confused and disorientated. We have done this with a good amount of abilities that is in your disposal.

SO OVER DRAMATIC!

As you take a Murkors health away they can look pretty angry, but what happens if they run out of health. well we have an animation for when the die which can look pretty dramatic.

MORE TO COME!

We will continue to frequently update you on our road to 1.0 and if you would like to see some exclusive content head over to our Discord server!

Die After Sunset - The Road To 1.0!

Welcome Back Defenders!

Since our latest Murker invasion, we have taken the time to look at all your feedback and suggestions. Tinkering with new gameplay changes, design choices and difficulty. So, we would like to introduce to you what we are calling: The Road to 1.0!

AIM DOWN SIGHTS

To start off our road to 1.0, we’re shining a light on the new aim down sight mechanic! We feel it works way better for the moment-to-moment gunplay – especially when Murkors are further away. This will make shooting a lot more accurate and feel more immersive. A bonus advantage as well is that you get to see our beautiful graphics better as well!

MORE TO COME!

This is just a taste of many changes that we have made and we will continue to update you as they happen. *Can you spot them in our GIF's?*

PLAYTEST WHEN?

Want to try out the new changes? Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for our first playtest! And for those eager defenders out there, make sure to join our Discord for exclusive content and info.

Murkor Madness: Let's Compare Murkors #3

Greetings Everyone!

HQ broadcasting to all recruits out on the field! We have information regarding the new Murkor enemies you will face in the present day so listen closely to this report.

Although we don't have access to the present ourselves yet team, we have been able to send one of our recruits ahead through the time artefact. Rido has bravely ventured into the present day and fought toe to toe with our enemy in order to get us this valuable intel!

Our new enemy has learnt from our previous encounters and has armour! So not only is their defence stronger, they also have a triple threat - quite literally! Their weapon is a powerful tri-gun which seems to seek it's target regardless of movement and looks to be powered by the very mucus we have been harnessing too!

Be on the lookout recruits, when we have word the window is open for us to travel to the present day, we will be sending in teams to take back our planet!

Murkor Invasion Log #11: Save the Aid Cargo

Gather round recruits!

We have a new mission report from a brand-new ally, please give your warmest welcome to Hune! She has somewhat of an unknown past and used to be a part of the Murkors division, but currently she fights for Earth. Her motives are unclear, but she is an ally nonetheless and one with extremely valuable skills and knowledge, so listen up folks!

Communique reads:

This is Hune reporting in. On my latest patrol I have come across some cargo that is meant for aid relieve on the field struggling to depart. It seems the Murkors are aware of some cargo locations and are bent on destroying them before they can leave and be sent out to our recruits in need.

In order to help the cargo leave unscathed, I entered into battle with the surrounding Murkor while sticking close to the cargo to protect it. The closer I stuck to the cargo the quicker it was able to depart, however the Murkors caught on quickly and put a fork in my plan! They dropped a number of explosive boxes that I needed to disarm before they could reach their explosive potential, but it meant leaving the cargo to do so!

It seemed a pattern of disarming and returning to the cargo take off platform to protect the cargo worked well, but you have to keep your eyes peeled as the Murkors will drop the boxes at random anywhere surrounding the cargo! Speed is definitely going to be an advantage in this mission should it arise again in another location.

End of report - Hune out!

Character Breakdown: Who Should You Play?

Greetings Gamers!

The classic scenario we always face when we start a new game with multiple playable characters, is which character do we play? We need to weigh up our play style and what suits this best and also the particular strengths of each player too.

Well, we have put together a little breakdown of each character’s strongest abilities and things to consider when making this difficult decision.

Why should I play:

April

First off, we have our original hero, April. Her character build is very good for beginners and starting out playing Die After Sunset. She has good manoeuvrability including a great dodging ability in which she rolls away from danger. This can also help you travel around the map a lot faster as well if you use in conjunction with the dashing.

April has the basic gun, which is again, a great weapon to ease you into things and figuring out the aiming. You can upgrade this during your runs with mission rewards or alternatively you can progress on the meta-map outside of your runs on the start menu. The other weapon April can wield is a shotgun which is much more powerful and can destroy murkors with one shot.

The only real drawback to April is that she isn’t a particularly exciting character, in that she doesn’t have anything extraordinary about her. But that is the whole idea! She is meant to be an everyday citizen, the normest of the norm, dragged into a battle for Earth by the Murkor Invasion. April will work well with beginners and for all round attack and also defensive gamers.

Rido

Next up for selection, we have our second rogue hero, Rido. He appears as a new ally to unlock in the game from level 2, treasure island. Rido has a unique backstory and that explains his rather unique appearance as well. Finding himself short on cash, Rido joined the army’s human testing division and ultimately became a mixture of man and robot. After fleeing their facility, he has remained on the run ever since and slap bang in the middle of a war!

One good thing to come from his backstory, however, is his powerful fighting ability. His most advantageous weapon is his machinegun which can pepper any enemy full of holes! This in itself is a big appeal however, Rido also has super-fast and strong robotic legs too! These can give you a super-fast dash and also a powerful swift kick to slam those pesky Murkors. This robotic tech can be upgraded in the start menu once you build up your skills.

As great as Rido sounds though, his manoeuvrability is a lot slower and broken compared to April due to his oddly shaped robotic legs. Arguably however he does make up for this with the super strong leg abilities, but they do have cool downs to be careful of! Rido would suit a combative attack focused gamer.

Hune

And last up to consider is Hune. Not much is known about Hune or how she came to be, however what we do know is she was kidnapped by the enemy murkors and supposedly experimented on creating an unstable power.

Despite her stability being in question, she can be a useful asset in the fight against the murkors now. Her unique abilities include teleportation giving her a huge advantage with manoeuvrability. She also floats around the map which gives her another upper hand on the enemies and her fellow allies.

And that’s not all, Hune also defies gravity with her gravity distorting hoop weapon. Throwing this at the enemy will cause them to be stunned and lose all gravity just like Hune herself making them easy targets to take down. Couple this with her small finger gun, which granted is probably the weakest of the weapons, but it has a great power up to blast those enemies down. Hune lends herself well to gamers who favour speed and manoeuvrability.

With this individual breakdown of each character, you can now make an informed decision on which character to play and would suit your play style. Happy gaming gamers!

Character Introduction: Hune

The latest update brings a whole range of new features including a new playable character, let’s make some noise for Hune!

All our characters so far have been very weird and wonderful, and Hune is no exception. The only thing is her past is SO strange we have had to classify some information to only certain individuals.

Here’s what we do know:

Hune was kidnapped by the Murkors and [CLASSIFIED] after being in [CLASSIFIED] and achieving [REDACTED] to [CLASSIFIED] multiple times on the head.

Hune's stability is in question, but she can be a useful asset in the plan to defeat the Murkors. Her trademark ability is being able to float which means her manoeuvrability is very good and pair this with her unique teleportation, you already have a very powerful ally.

Hune’s weapon capability is her flashy finger gun which blasts the enemies with pinpoint accuracy. She is not someone you want to mess with in more ways than one!
