Digital Diamond Baseball V10

Minor Update

The following updates are included in this release:

  • You can now include NORBI1, NORBI2, and/or NORIB3 in the Singe/Double/Triple command when there is an error on a hit. This will specify that runners scoring from first, second, and/or third do not count as an RBI. The error should be the last item in the command.
  • Added two new commands: DROPKOUT (batter out at first on a dropped third strike [23]) and DROPKOUTU (batter out at the plate on a dropped third strike [catcher unassisted]).
  • Added a NOTES section on the last page of the Board Game Companion cheat sheet with additional information about the Board Game Companion.

NOTE: the version number will remain at 10.1.9.

Small Patch

This release contains a minor update to the advanced 1B/2B/3B Board Game Companion command. Specifically, you can now add NORBI to the end of the command when there is an error on a hit. This will specify that no RBI are awarded to the batter because of the error. For example, the command 1B R22 E9 NORBI results in a single, followed by an error on the right fielder. Because the error allowed the runner on second to score, NORBI was added to the end of the command so no RBI is awarded to the batter.

The 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, and 1936 Libraries Updated!

Thanks to some hard work from Ed Summers, the The 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, and 1936 libraries have been updated. Specifically, these libraries have been recalibrated for improved league pitching stats. You can install the updated libraries directly from the Library Manage Page in Digital Diamond Baseball. A big thanks to Ed Summers for sharing these libraries.

Small Patch Released

This patch contains the following updates to the Board Game Companion commands:

  • You can now add
  • * to the end of the STL2BE command and the base stealer will score on the error.
  • You can now add
  • * or
  • ** to the end of the PICK command to specify a two or three base error (e.g., PICKR1EP**)
  • The Board Game Companion Cheat Sheet has been updated to reflect these additions.

The version number remains at 10.1.9 after this update.

Minor Update Released

This release contains the following two minor updates:

  • The status bar now makes it easier to determine what day is getting simulated during fast play.
  • The Pitcher vs Batters and Batter vs Pitchers reports now support being filtered by a date range.

This is a small update and the version number will remain at 10.1.9 after it is installed.

I have received a lot of good suggestions over the past few weeks and the plan is to get some of these implemented next. These require a bit more work so it will probably be a few weeks before the next release.

10.1.9 Patch Released

This update consists of the following bug fixes:

  • Starting a game where the home team uses the DH, but the as-played lineups do not use the DH, prevented the user from creating a DH lineup. This bug has been fixed. In addition, the DH rule is now decided entirely by the DH rule for the home team's league. If you want to change the DH status for a game you have to do it by changing the DH rule for the home team's league.
  • The fielder was not flashing on contact when using the Board Game Companion. This bug has been fixed.
  • Fixed a bug where some game sounds were not playing (e.g., HBP) when using the Board Game Companion.
  • The end of inning play by play message that contains the number of runs, hits, and errors in the inning always reported zero hits when using the Board Game Companion. This bug has been fixed.
  • The ability to export games (typically used for league play, but also a good way to backup a specific played game) was broken. This bug has been fixed.
  • A few typos and spelling errors were corrected.

NOTE: The version number will remain at 10.1.9 after this update is installed.

V10.1.9 Released

This release contains the following updates and bug fixes:

  • Added the ability to add a note to a player. The note will be displayed in the player popup as well as on the field during a game. I am sure that folks will have lots of creative uses for these notes. However, I expect the best use is to enter board game ratings so that you can view these ratings while simulating a game with the Board Game Companion. Here is a quick tip video that shows you how to use this new feature.
  • It is now possible to specify that you want the second baseman to get the putout at first on a sacrifice hit. See the Board Game Companion cheat sheet for details.
  • Exporting a boxscore now includes a CSV version of the extended boxscore.
  • A new option has been added that allows you to view a basic version of the score card that does not include fielders and other details. This option can be found in the Advanced->Misc Options Group.
  • The player of the game algorithm used for batters has been improved.
  • BUGFIX: fixed a bug with the PICK Board Game Companion command that was causing the pitcher to get credited for two outs on the play.
  • BUGFIX: fixed an issue with the Board Game Companion 'sacrifice hit double play' command.
  • BUGFIX: fixed a display issue with some of the tables on the extended boxscore.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and for reporting the bugs!

Minor Patch (Version Remains 10.1.8)

This patch contains a minor update to accommodate a change made by Baseball Reference to the CSV files used for importing stats into Digital Diamond Baseball.

Minor Patch (version remains at 10.1.8)

This minor release contains the following bug fixes and updates:

  • Added user control over runner advancement when entering DROPK in the Board Game Companion. For example, DROPKR21 specifies that the runner on second advances one base on the play.
  • When entering a sacrifice hit in the Board Game Companion, you can now specify a throwing error by adding E*, E**, or E*** to the end of the command.
  • Popups can now be specified without including ā€˜U’ (e.g., P6).
  • You can now choose to only specify one fielder for the ground ball command. In this case, the second fielder will default to 3 (e.g., G6 becomes G63).
  • Fixed a minor bug with the Board Game Companion "bunt beats it out for a single" command.
  • Updated the Board Game Companion cheat sheet.

Note the version number will remain at 10.1.8 after this update.

V10.1.8 Released

The following updates and bug fixes are in this release:

  • During a game, the line score now displays a graphic showing which bases are occupied.
  • Undo is no longer limited to just the last play. You can now undo as many previous plays as you like.
  • Fixed a bug with the STL2B3B command (double steal).
