Announcing a Brand New Season Library - 1972!

The 1972 season is now available for free for Digital Diamond Baseball. Replay the last season in history that did not use the DH.

In 1972, cancelled games caused by a player strike allowed the Tigers to play one more game than the Red Sox. As a result, Detroit ended up winning the division over Boston by just 1/2 games. However, Detroit did not go much further as the Athletics advanced to the World Series and eventually defeated the Reds 4 games to 3.

This season features MVP winners Dick Allen and Johnny Bench, and Cy Young winners Gaylord Perry and Steve Carlton. Carlton lead the league in Wins (27) even though his team(PHI) only won 59 games!

This library has as-played lineups, real-life transactions, and custom player ratings. It can be installed for free directly from the Library Management Page.

Version 7.1.3 Released!

What Is New In This Release?

  • Added the ability to import custom base running ratings. These ratings are imported the same way other custom ratings are imported. Just be sure to use the Baseball Reference Baserunning/Misc report for the season you are importing and then select "Run" for the "Fielding Position" before you start the import. The base running ratings are calculated based on how often a runner takes an extra base on a single or double compared to how often they don't take the extra base. Baseball Reference appears to have the base running data going back as far as 1925.
  • Added an option to control the double play special event. This allows you to enable or suppress the triggering of a double play special event based on the number of double plays turned by a team in a game. The option can be found in the Special Events option group.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented users from changing the bunt chance option for batters with a bunt rating of 5.
