Version 7.1.1 Released

What Is New In This Release?

  • Minor adjustment made to the ratings import.

Version 7.1.0 Released

What Is New In This Release?

  • Added two new ratings options that control the cutoff for how many players will placed in each rating category. The first option specifies how many players will be placed in categories 1 and 5. The second option specifies how many players will be placed in categories 2 and 4. Values are entered as a percentage of the number players that play the position being imported. For example, if there are 120 players that play shortstop, and the first option is set to 5 percent, then there will be 6 players assigned a rating of 1 and 6 players assigned a rating at 5.
  • Fixed a bug with the ratings import feature that caused an error when there are empty fields in the import file.

Version 7.0.9 Has Been Released

What is New In This Release?

This release addresses some issues with the rating import feature introduced in Version 7.0.8. Specifically, the following updates have been made:

  • The instructional video demonstrating how to import ratings was missing an important step for importing arm ratings. The video has been updated and will be made available on Steam and Facebook.
  • When you import range ratings they will be based on Rtz instead of Rtot. Rtot combines several different aspects of defensive ability, and Rtz measures just a player's range ability.
  • We have added a new menu item on the Edit Player Page that allows you to reset all custom ratings to the default value.

If you have already imported some ratings using Version 7.0.8, we recommend that you reset them to the default using the new menu item on the Edit Player Page, and then import them again. Be sure to watch the updated video so you do not miss the step for importing arm ratings.

If you have any questions, contact customer support.

Version 7.0.8 Has Been Released

What's New In This Update?

  • Updated the custom ratings import feature (e.g., range rating, hold rating, arm rating, etc.). It is now possible to import ratings directly from the advanced Baseball Reference fielding pages. See the recently posted video in the Steam Community Hub, and on our Facebook page, for detailed instructions on how to import custom player ratings into a library.
  • Updated the game engine so that the number of fielding attempts at each position more closely match real life. This fix makes custom range ratings more accurate. Thanks to user JB for all of the research he has done related to this fix!
  • Fixed a bug that made it impossible to dismiss the defensive changes dialog during a game when using low resolution graphics.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the player of the game images from displaying for pitchers on the calendar day view.
  • Added an image for SunTrust ballpark in Atlanta. With this addition the game now ships with images for all of the current ballparks. All of our park images were made available to us via a Creative Commons License. See the readme file for details.

Update on Custom Player Ratings

Over the last month or so we have been working hard on a major update to custom player ratings in Digital Diamond Baseball (Range, Arm, Hold). We are happy to announce that this update is scheduled to be released on July 4th (Version 7.0.8). Here are the details.

To accurately support range ratings, the game engine has been updated so that the distribution of "balls in play" more closely matches real life distribution. This work includes updates to the default "Pull Factor" options, "Contact" options, and the logic that handles good range and bad range checks on fielding plays. This change was made possible thanks to some serious research done by user "Johnny Bravo". A big thanks to Johnny Bravo for sharing his hard work! If you are active on our user forums, be sure to thank JB!

A new import tool was added to the "Import/Edit Players" page that makes it possible to import custom player ratings easily using the standard fielding data available on Baseball Reference. Fielder range ratings, pitcher hold ratings, and catcher and outfield arm ratings will be automatically calculated using the Total Zone Fielding metrics provided on Baseball Reference. Using this tool, custom player ratings can be imported into a library in just 15 minutes!

We are currently involved in the final testing of Version 7.0.8 and right now it looks like we will make the July 4th scheduled release. Version 7.0.8 also contains a few bug fixes and a new ballpark image for SunTrust Park in Atlanta. Once this update is released, we will slowly be adding ratings to all of the player libraries made available on our site.

So hang in there -- custom player ratings are only a few weeks away!

Version 7.0.7 Has Been Released!

What's New In This Update?

  • Improvements were made to how the Computer Manager selects setup relievers during a game.
  • Updated the player importer so that it checks both the team name and team tag (three letter team abbreviation). This will allow users to rename the teams in the 2018 library and still be able to import the real time stat updates.
