We’re back with the next development update! We’re hard at work to deliver to all of you the best experience possible. We’re still improving the core mechanics of the game while also implementing stretch goals from our Kickstarter campaign.
Without further ado, let us give you an insight into the newest additions!
Let the Adventure Begin!
As you may already to know from our previous DevLog #14, we’ve recently added the Night Mode with electricity management as a part of “Let the adventure begin” Kickstarter stretch goal. You can see a new development screenshot below. It’s really dark out there, isn’t it? If a lamp is not enough, just grab a flashlight and you’re ready to go! Paleontologists tend to work in various environments, including wandering about at night. Fossil hunting may be difficult in those circumstances, but who else but you can undertake this challenge? :)
Along with the Night Mode, “Let the Adventure Begin” stretch goal includes new tools. One of them, pictured below, is Geiger counter which greatly helps with locating the fossils! We hope it’ll be of use to you!
Drive to Dive!
Another Kickstarter stretch goal that is already making its way into the game is the “Drive to Dive” stretch goal. For those of you who may have started to follow us more recently, we want to expand the area of exploration and let players… Dive! Of course, extracting fossils from underwater requires sufficient new tools.
This is where our new gasoline water pump comes in! It has 2 different uses depending on a place it’s used in. It can dry out wetlands or rinse stones while diving.
What else?
Apart from adding features from our Kickstarter stretch goal list, we’ve also been working on a big museum! This museum is still WIP so please keep in mind that the screenshot below doesn’t represent final results.
Stay tuned for upcoming updates, and keep following Dinosaur Fossil Hunter on Steam!

Good cars are essential for travelling to the dig site. It will often be very tough to get there due to the uneven terrain. You will encounter different obstacles in each excavation area, and choosing a proper vehicle before hitting the road is highly recommended.
There will be four different cars available in the game:
off-road vehicle,
grandpa’s pickup,
advanced exploration vehicle,
heavy truck.
In short, those vehicles are capable of crossing challenging terrain thanks to mud-terrain tires and will allow safe transportation of precious fossils in a special trunk. Each car has its own unique features that make accessing the dig site easier, you will find out about them soon while playing the game.
Which car do you like the most? Let us know in the comments section below! ːsteamhappyː

If you have any ideas and suggestions, don't hesitate to post them on our Discord server! Let's talk about the game and paleontology!
Stay tuned for upcoming updates, and keep following Dinosaur Fossil Hunter on Steam!
Since the beginning our goal was to create a fun Paleontologist Simulator - a unique game the world hasn't seen before. At the beginning of 2019, after long planning, we've started the production of this game and prepared a lot of content, then we decided to prepare Dinosaur Fossil Hunter Demo Version to gather feedback about the game. Thanks to this Kickstarter and the great Community, we received many ideas on how to improve the game.
The next step was preparing The Prologue with polished core gameplay and longer plot which introduced players to our game. Releasing The Prologue gave as an amazing opportunity to gather valuable feedback and many awesome ideas worth adding to the game, which would greatly enrich the gameplay.
In conclusion, after reading almost all your comments and discussing the feedback, we've decided to add some big changes to the game based on suggestions that you've posted on Kickstarter, Steam and Discord, but adding these changes and improvements requires additional time. However, we believe that this will make our game even more pleasant and satisfying.
Aside from originally planned features you will additionally find a lot of new things in the game, the most important changes we decided to add are:
Player XP progress with skill tree
Museum progress with upgrades
Ability to shorten exploration or preparation phases depending on player level
Different bone workflows for small and medium sized bones with completely redesigned, more immersive look
It wasn't an easy decision, mainly because of one important reason - it extends the production time of the game, which is inconvenient both for you and for us. We need to reach the „roots” of the game and rebuild part of the mechanics, for example to enable player progress during gameplay. This means that we will not be able to deliver the game to you as we previously planned - in December.
We hope to deliver Dinosaur Fossil Hunter Early Access to you in Q1 2021. We know that many of you are looking forward to the game and you wanted to play during Christmas. Despite these hard times, we're doing our best to deliver the game as fast as we possibly can, created by passionate players for players. After the Christmas break, we will provide you with more details regarding the development status.
We are convinced that adding those changes was the right decision and we believe that longer development will definitely have a positive impact on the game that we're creating together with you. Every day we also work on Kickstarter goals to implement as many of them as possible before the release day. Thank you for your trust and understanding.
and one more thing...
Merry Christmas!
Christmas is just around the corner! May the Christmas Season bring only happiness and joy to you and your family. We wish you a Merry Christmas! 🎄
Stay safe and take care during the Christmas Season! Dinosaur Fossil Hunter Team

We're working on Dynamic Weather System, which will introduce a foggy morning, a hot day, and storm in the evening to the game. Changing weather conditions will definitely increase the immersion!

Photo Mode - drone
We've added a special Photo Mode to the game for capturing beautiful views, landscapes and your custom museum exhibitions!
Welcome to the Command center!
We've managed to change the classic game menu into your own office, so you may feel like true paleontologist!
Let the adventure begin!
Night mode with electricity management has been implemented to the game. We're still working on that mode, and checking if everything works as expected. We're also improving driving mechanics and the camera while driving.
Trust me, I’m an interior decorator!
We've added new decorations to the game, such as triassic plants and many others, so you will be able to decorate your museum exhibitions nicely!
Underwater fossil search
We've added a new player mode and new tools for diving, so you'll be able to search for invaluable treasure underwater!
While waiting for the Early Access, you can still play the Prologue version on Steam, and share your suggestions! If you played the Prologue already - remember to write a Steam Review - this way more people will learn about our game. Don't forget to also tell your friends that they can play the game!
