Hey everyone! It has now been a year since Disc Golf Online launched. It has been awesome to see so many players picking up the game and enjoying it.
To celebrate the year, and to thank all of you, I have organized a tournament. The information about the tournament can be found below, or in the Disc Golf Online Official Discord: https://discord.gg/2YubyzYdEB
Information
The tournament will be held on 22 October, with the first game starting at 19:00 CEST / 1:00 pm EDT / 10:00 am PDT.
It will be played over three different 18-hole courses, which takes approximately three hours. Players will be split into groups of four, based on their score (lead card, chase card etc.). All three maps have already been decided, and here are the seeds: Map 1 - nice_seed_bro Map 2 - Tournament_2222 Map 3 - 4th2jghjx You are welcome to practice these maps before the tournament.
Before each round, all players will be split into groups of four, based on their score (lead card, chase card etc.). The player with the best (lowest) score in each group becomes the group leader. The group leader is responsible for adding the other players in their group on steam, and inviting them to a lobby.
After each round, the group leader reports the score of the entire group. This is done by taking a screenshot of the final scorecard and sending it in discord, in the channel tournament-score-reporting. All players are recommended to take note of the final score, in case the group leader reports the wrong score for some reason. A penalty may be applied if a player cannot report their score or tries to fabricate the scores.
The first round starts at 19:00 CEST / 1:00 pm EDT / 10:00 am PDT. The groups for the first round will be announced 15 minutes before that, so all players should be ready to play by then. These 15 minutes will give you time to find the players in the same group as you, and get in a lobby together.
When all groups have finished a round and all scores have been reported, the groups for the next round are announced in discord. When this announcement is made, the next round will start in 15 minutes.

Prizes

Top 3 finishers get to choose which disc they want their tournament disc skin for.
In case that two players are tied for a spot in the top 3, the tied players will continue playing the last map until one player gets a better score on any hole.

Hello everyone! This update finally fixes most of the game's annoying networking quirks. Hopefully this will make the game more enjoyable to play overall. A bunch of other smaller bugs have also been fixed, and some features have been added.
Most notably, a new attempt at better disc physics has been implemented. This is aimed at improving the interactions between the disc and the ground, which has been somewhat unrealistic for a long time. Specifically, it makes the disc calm down faster after landing. As always: please leave feedback on the disc physics. I consider it the biggest advantage of this game compared to other disc golf games, and I want it to be perfect!
Networking bug fixes Fixed a bug which sometimes (almost always) stopped stats and challenge results from being uploaded by non-hosts when playing in a group. Fixed a bug which stopped players from exiting new lobbies after leaving or finishing a game. Fixed a bug in multiplayer mode which sometimes caused players to spawn on different maps.
Other bug fixes Fixed a “bug” which completely stopped the saved seeds system from working. Fixed a bug which caused the scrollbar on the leaderboards to disappear sometimes. Fixed a bug which caused strange UI interactions when selling equipment. Fixed a bug which caused backpacks to be displayed incorrectly when owning more than 4 backpacks. Fixed a bug which would crash the leaderboards if anyone over level 50 appeared on it.
Features Improved disc-ground physics interactions. Added circle 1 & 2 zone markers to the help markers UI (standard binding Q). Added the stats menu. The button to open this can be found at the top left of the menu, under the profile information. Added stat tracking for circle two putt accuracy.
Update 1.3.1 - Bug fixes
Bug fixes:
Fixed a bug which caused the best game score to be incorrectly calculated and uploaded to the leaderboards (oops). Fixed a rare bug with OB zones which could sometimes cause the player to be placed at the basket of the last completed hole. Fixed a bug which stopped the "ding" sound from being played when hitting the lower edge of the basket.
Update 1.3 - Bug victim compensations
Update 1.3 added a bad bug which could make players lose all their discs. This bug can no longer happen in the current version, but some players were still affected before it was fixed.
A small update is now live which lets me grant coins to affected users accounts.

Update 1.3 - The Challenges and Community Update
Hello everyone! After a small break from development, I have a new update that I'm very excited for. Update 1.3 brings the Community menu to the game! Through this menu you can play daily and weekly challenges, and view the leaderboards which display the top players in some categories. I hope that this update will bring an increased sense of online presence, and add some competitive elements to the game
Improved disc physics
I have been very fond of keeping the disc physics 100% realistic. This means all the physics code comes straight from physics equations. However, there has always been one aspect that I have not been able to accurately capture with equations only: friction. With low friction values, the disc skips like it should and generally behaves well at high speed, but if the disc lands on a hill it starts sliding which is very annoying. With high friction values the disc does not slide down hills but behaves very weird when it touches the ground at high speed. This gave me an idea that seems to fix both problems: artificially increase the disc friction at low speeds. A nice side effect of this is that the disc can jump around a little when stopping, as if there were imperfections or small rocks in the ground. Let me know in the discord channel if you notice any weird physics that may come from this change.
Changes: Made discs less likely to slide down steep surfaces after landing. Made the saved seeds window less confusing. Discs will now stay in the same spot in backpacks between games. OB zones can now only reset players to a dropzone on the first throw.

Features:
The daily & weekly challenges Here you can play a special seed that updates every week or day. The seed is the same for everyone, and your score on the round is uploaded to a server. The top 5 scores on each challenge are displayed for everyone. Once you complete a challenge, you can’t play it again until the challenge resets.
The daily challenge is a short 9 hole round, and resets each day at 10 am UTC. The weekly challenge is a longer 18 hole round that resets each Friday at 10 am UTC.
Leaderboards Here you can view the top players in (for now) four categories:
Best score - total score over par for any round.
Number of aces - just in case it ever happens.
Longest throw - longest distance of any throw.
Longest putt - longest distance of any throw that ends up in the basket.
Through this menu you can also view other players' steam profiles.
To celebrate this, and to bring some new players to compete against, the game will be on a 50% sale for one week.

Hey! Just small update that fixes a few annoying bugs.
Bug fixes Fixed a bug which made the mountain biome button in the offline lobby always checked. Fixed a bug which caused the saved seeds menu to break in the offline lobby. Fixed a bug where the player would sometimes spawn under the tee when using teleport. Fixed a bug where trees without leaves would load out at a shorter distance than normal trees.
