Disc Jam

Announcing Thursday Night Jam! Weekly playtests beginning July 21st

Everyone has been asking for more opportunities to play Disc Jam, so today we’re happy to announce that you can play every week! Starting July 21st, Disc Jam will be online every Thursday for 12 hours! We’re doubling the length of our playtest window in the hope that it will be easier for players in all parts of the world to find time to play.

THURSDAY NIGHT JAM

Every Thursday – Starting July 21st
3pm to 3am EST (New York)
12pm to 12am PST (Los Angeles)
16:00 to 4:00 BRST (São Paulo)
19:00 to 7:00 GMT (London)
20:00 to 8:00 CET (Paris)
22:00 to 10:00 MSK (Moscow)

Why the wait? I want to play RIGHT NOW!

Well, we’re still investigating bug reports from our last test, but we’ve also got some really exciting changes to gameplay and scoring in the works and we need to get them finished up before we make another build. We’ll be putting up another blog post soon with more details on what’s new!

Why this day and time? I can’t play!

A few months ago, we sent out a survey asking players their ideal playtest times and the vast majority of respondents said that weeknights were best. We chose Thursday evenings so that we could respond to feedback on Fridays and iterate on that feedback at the start of the following week. We understand that some people may not be able to play on Thursdays, but we feel it is important to have a regular schedule that players can rely on. If enough people are participating, we will open up a second day of the week for testing.

What do I do next?

In the meantime, make sure you've redeemed your Steam key and downloaded the game client. If you haven't yet received your key and you're unable to get one from discjamgame.com, please check out this post.

How do I play?

Check out our 'How To Jam' page for a description of the rules, the controls, and some tips on how to jam like a pro. Once you're playing, you can also press Start or ESC to open the in-game menu and get a refresher.

Can I use a controller?

Yes! In fact, we recommend using a Microsoft Xbox 360 or Microsoft Xbox One controller for the best experience. If you don't have one, no worries, you can still play using a traditional keyboard.

Can my friends play?

Of course! If your friends want to play and they haven't signed up yet, send them over to discjamgame.com. They'll receive a Steam key as soon as they sign up and verify their email address.

Can I stream this or post videos?

Definitely! Everyone is encouraged to stream the game and upload footage wherever they wish. We're excited to share the game with the world, build a community, and get everyone involved in helping us make Disc Jam the best game it can be.

Disc Jam @ E3 and PS4 Officially Announced!

And… we’re back! First off, we’d like to apologize for being absent in the community for the past few months. During that time, we’ve been hard at work building new features, polishing existing features, and focusing on biz-dev.

Today, that work pays off and we’re happy to announce that Disc Jam is officially coming to PlayStation 4! While Steam remains a priority for us, Disc Jam will launch simultaneously on both platforms and we’re excited to extend the Disc Jam community to PC and console gamers alike. Disc Jam has always played best with a controller, so bringing it to PlayStation is a natural fit. Check out how far the game has come in our official announce trailer.

If you’re going to be at E3, come check out Disc Jam in person! We’re going to be hosting a playable demo at the MIX event tonight at LA Live.

Lastly, to everyone that has helped us test the game so far: THANK YOU! We know that many of you have been asking for more playtests; rest assured, they are just around the corner. Shortly after E3, we will be posting an update detailing all of the new features as well as a new playtest schedule. Stay tuned!

Patch Notes

We're very excited to share the BIG changes that went into this build! Our top feature request on our roadmap was adding our next character so we're happy to announce that Makenna has joined the fun! Small but speedy, Makenna covers a lot of ground and can be a crippling defensive player. Another massive change is the addition of SKILL CURVES! You can now use the left stick during windup to add spin to your throw. Check out our blog post for more details and see below for the full list of added features:

  • NEW: Added Makenna to the roster
  • NEW: SKILL CURVES added! New throw mechanic for adding spin to the disc during windup
  • NEW: Disc physics overhauled to enable disc skipping and spin-based ricochet
  • NEW: Added end game screen with rematch flow to get players back in game faster
  • NEW: 32-bit Windows is now supported
  • IMPROVED: All new full body throw animations
  • IMPROVED: Throw curvature is now indicated by tilt angle
  • IMPROVED: Full UI reskin
  • FIXED: Lobby countdown not resetting
  • TWEAKED: Power throws are now harder to track and should be more effective
  • TWEAKED: RT/LT curve throws updated to be "quick curves" with faster release time than all other throws
