Dynamic Sounds implementation:
Most sounds in the game have gotten an overhaul to make things feel/sound more natural and dynamic. This is the initial implementation for the dynamic sounds, more will be updated and added in coming patches.

  • Most sounds, especially related to the infection, will now be muffled when behind the environment.
  • Most sounds, especially related to the infection, will reverberate in certain environments.

Bugfixes:

  • - Fix for Tutorial crash.
  • - Fix & adjustment for infection hunt radius being extremely large.

Bugfixes & Polish:

  • Removed resolution options lower than 800x600.
  • Fixed game starting in a resolution lower than 800x600.
  • Diversified the roaming behavior of the infection types, some infection types roam more than others now.
  • Reduced infection spread speed scaling for higher difficulty rankings for better balancing.
  • Reduced light pop sound radius.
  • Fixed door shadows and made the holes (made by the infection) have depth.
  • Adjusted the Bloom post effect to be more balanced and subtle.
  • Changed the glass shader on some of the decoration & ship systems.
  • Added surface effect to infection airlock door blocker.

Alarms:
When infected the ship systems will now give alarms and warning messages:

  • Added alarm lights to the Reactor Core.
  • Added alarm sounds to the Reactor Core.
  • Added computer announcements of various malfunction warnings.


Zero Gravity:
First implementation of Zero Gravity: If the Reactor Core turns off there is no longer any power being supplied to the ship’s engines, thus the gravity created from the ship’s acceleration dies down and you’ll find yourself (as well as your tools) floating through the spaceship. Luckily your zero-G training kicks in allowing you to slowly maneuver through the ship regardless.

  • Fix for infection Eye Growth calling the infection monster even if it is dead.

  • Fix for players being able to move through the infection growth blocking the airlock during an hunt.

  • Recycling infection now insta-kills players regardless of difficulty rank.
  • Infection Growths now vanish when the infection is killed.
  • Changed the ship health bonus threshold for medium ships to 70% and large ships to 80%.

Patch 0.05d

Bugfixes and polish:

  • Fixed crash when leaving your Team and then making a new team.
  • Fixed crash when losing connection to Team host and then re-joining that team.
  • Fixed crash when re-joining a Team if the team host leaves in the middle of a mission.
  • Fixes & improvements in (memory) cleanup when leaving a Team.
  • Fixed crashes when AI needs to fetch client-side or Tutorial player model location
  • Fix for player teleporting after respawning.
  • Fix for monster model moving away in attack/kill animations.
  • Fixed the infection hunting players that are inside the lobby.
  • Fixed crouch animation breaking when opening the PDA while crouched.
  • Fixed picking up an item while having the PDA open breaking the inventory select until the PDA button is pressed again.
  • Fixed triggers being pick-able i.e. being able to place the Chiller on a trigger or a trigger blocking an interaction.
  • Fixed Teams list in the join menu taking a long time to clear
  • Fixed the Reprogrammer not making the monster hunt when it is the wrong weapon.
  • Fixed mission sometimes not having a name.
  • Weapons no longer work inside the lobby/airlock area to prevent cheating and AI issues.
  • When hurting or aggravating the infection with a weapon it will now always hunt & chase players, regardless of distance or suit integrity.
  • Changed the Reprogrammer to always show the keys you need to press, regardless of distance to infection source.
  • Improved the Flamethrower particles slightly.
  • Changed the calculation of difficulty rankings for missions, to give a wider range of choice that scales better with player rank. This also fixes high ranking players only getting very high difficulty ranking missions.
  • Changed the names of the infections so there’s less confusion with ship systems.
  • Added an option to turn off the headbob.
  • The ship airlock is now closed off by the infection's growths, instead of the door just locking, during an hunt.
  • Adjustments to infection (hunting) behavior to diversify the infection types more.
  • Added tips to the loading screen.


The first Random Events:

  • First implementation of Random Events
  • 2 new Random Events.
  • If the Reactor Core malfunctions it may cause too high a power surge which causes various things in the ship to malfunction or even explode.


The first Threats:

  • New growths spawn from the infection, one of them being an eye that watches its surroundings. Once it has spotted a player it will stare at the player. Don't let it stare too long though: it may call its deadlier friends for help.
  • The original, and now missing, crew of the ship seem to still be alive… of sorts. Beware that they have gone quite insane from being absorbed into the infection and now they may lunge at you from the walls to do the same to you.

Evil Turtle Devlog #1 - 26/6/22

We are currently very busy working on a big patch for the upcoming 'Random Events & Threats' release of the game and given the amount of work & time this patch involves we thought it a good idea to keep you all up to date on what exactly we are working on.

The patch (version 0.05d) is expected to release sometime next week and has a lot of big fixes and new content, here's some of them:

  • A lot of crash-related bugfixes. We've been doing some in-depth testing and found/solved a lot of root causes for a lot of crashes involving joining/leaving teams, connection issues, memory cleanup and the infection AI. Some of these bugs were hard to replicate and so took a lot of time to find.
  • Many small fixes and polish in the player, PDA, weapon and monster code, models and animations.
  • We're adding the option to disable the head-bobbing, since quite a few of you felt it was uncomfortable and we want people sensitive to motion-sickness to be able to enjoy the game as well.
  • Missions will now have a wide range of difficulties to choose from. This range scales with player/team rank and will provide much more choice.
  • The first implementation of Random Events with 2 new Events.
  • The first implementation of Threats with 2 new Threats.

Developer Testing Stream

Hello y'all,

This is our first little stream, to test things out and get the hang of it, so be gentle :)
We play the game and talk about the game and not-game related things. We may be playing the Beta/Testing version as well to show some of the stuff we are currently working on.
