Disinfection

Patch 0.05c

We've been reworking/re-balancing and fixing a lot of things in the the difficulty rankings and the infection, based on your feedback. The new systems should provide a more engaging experience across all difficulty levels with proper increase of challenge as players rank up.

Bugfixes:

  • - Fix for Team selection and joining the wrong Team
  • - Fix for weapons sometimes having the wrong infection type registered due to RNG, thus causing the wrong weapons to not work.
  • - Fix for infection AI teleport ability sometimes being assigned to the wrong types.
  • - Fix for infection AI not working after using teleport ability
  • - Fix for infection not spreading or showing on low difficulty missions.
  • - Fixed infection monster having wrong hunt range scaling with difficulty rank.
  • - Fixed Flamethrower sometimes going invisible.
  • - Fixed Life Support lights not working
  • - Fixed Tutorial crash when using the EMP bomb.
  • - Fix for Ship System temperatures.


Polish:

  • - Adjustments in the ER detector and Air particles sensor.
  • - Adjusted level generator corners generation, levels should have less dead ends now.
  • - Adjusted rank scaling so higher ranks are achievable and to make it a little more rewarding.
  • - Raised the reward for killing the infection.
  • - Adjusted the monster speed buffs
  • - Adjusted the infection special abilities, buffs and boosts, making things like the power being on and the ship's temperature more important.
  • - Corrected the difficulty scaling for the evidences. The previous formula used actually made things harder on low difficulty. The new scaling formula should make it so the evidences take longer to grow to full strength as the infection spreads on higher difficulties.
  • - Pressing the 1-3 keys for inventory while in the PDA now closes the PDA & opens that inventory slot.
  • - Improved some of the ambient ship sounds.
  • - Updated monster sounds.
  • - Made the monster sounds play less quickly in succession so they don't cut out or overlap.
  • - The random ambient sounds now sound near the infection source instead of in a random location. This allows players to estimate where it is by the sounds.
  • - Extended the area in the airlock that re-supplies oxygen to the entire airlock.
  • - Changed the bottom text in the mission select screen so it's more clear that the Decline button gives a new set of missions to choose from.
  • - Changed the spacing in the player statistics screen so the fourth player doesn't extend beyond bounds.


New Death animation and sounds:

  • - New death animation
  • - New monster model for the death animation
  • - Updated death sounds
  • - The monster attacks are now also visible on other players


Generic room decorations:

  • - First implementation of the generic decorations for rooms
  • - Small Cryo Chamber decoration
  • - More decorations coming in future updates

Bugfixes 4 for Patch 0.05b

Bugfixes:

  • - Fixed flamethrower not hurting infection
  • - Fixed speedboost from wrong weapon being way too high
  • - Fixed opening the PDA stats cancelling movement
  • - Fixed closing the PDA journal causing a teleport

Bugfixes and Polish 3 for Patch 0.05b

Bugfixes:

  • - Possible bugfix for level generator clipping.
  • - Fix for flashlight not working if set to a mouse control.
  • - Fix for player teleporting when holding movement keys with the PDA evidences open.
  • - Fixed being able to cancel death & getting hurt by going into the pause menu.
  • - Fixed Air Particles Sensor not using proper distance scaling, confusing players.
  • - Fixed Reactor Core turning off instantly when infected and thus being unable to power on again.
  • - Fixed Reactor Core power surges not working, when infected the Reactor Core will now randomly turn on and off ~20 times before shutting down permanently.
  • - Fixed Life Support not powering back on after the power in the ship has been turned back on.
  • - Fixed infection monster sounds cutting off when the hunt ends.
  • - Possible fix for glowsticks dropping through the floor.
  • - Fixed Reprogrammer not syncing properly.
  • - Fixed Reprogrammer not killing infection if used client-side.
  • - Fixed Oxygen Scrubber infection source teleport ability not working.
  • - Possible fix for infection source getting stuck in the airlock.
  • - Fixed spectator mode speeds being wrong.


Polish:
Players ranked up way too quickly, making the difficulty scaling go up way too fast. So there's been a couple changes:

  • - Changed the way the difficulty ranking is calculated.
  • - Changed how the player rank is calculated, this also means you need to get more XP the higher your rank is.
  • - Mission rewards have been scaled down somewhat, so players can't get thousands of XP in one mission anymore.


The infection also has had some changes:

  • - Reactor Core infection now becomes faster/stronger when infecting warm areas and slower/weaker when infection cold areas.
  • - Electrical Maintenance infection now becomes faster/stronger when infecting powered areas and slower/weaker when infecting unpowered areas.
  • - The infection hunt radius now depends more on Mission difficulty.
  • - Infection monster now gets a big speed boost if you use the wrong weapon on it.


Misc. polish:

  • - Added a mission timer which tells you how long it took you to do the mission. We are planning on adding a Leaderboard in later updates, with highest rank and shortest mission time.
  • - The flashlight of other players now attaches properly to the head, so it rotates and moves when the player looks up & down.
  • - Reprogrammer now only detects the infection source if it's the right weapon, so it can no longer be used to find the infection source every time.
  • - Changed the way ships are defined as "small", "medium" and "large". It should be more accurate now.

Bugfixes 2 for Patch 0.05b

Bugfixes:

  • - Fixed crash when entering Tutorial
  • - Fixed crash when leaving Tutorial

Fix for game not staring due to OpenAL install issue

Turns out Steam has issues with installing OpenAL, which made the game unable to start, without any error message.

We've implemented a custom installation for Steam now, which should have fixed this issue, so you might have to re-install the game for it to work.

Please let us know if you still run into this issue.

Patch 0.05a

Bugfixes:

  • - Fixed Chiller going invisible sometimes, usually when far away from the lobby
  • - Chiller (and other weapons) didn't work in the Tutorial
  • - Fixed Chiller sound effect not stopping when leaving to the main menu


Tutorial polish:

  • - Made the Tutorial ship systems interactive and give off false evidence signals
  • - Tutorial Computer core now does a data dump when interacted with
  • - Tutorial had missing textures on the control panel
  • - Tutorial had flickering lights in main area
  • - Added two signs above the tools and weapons in the Tutorial area to make it more clear which is which
  • - Updated the tutorial voice lines to make things more clearly explained


New PDA information system:
Aside from the evidences selection menu the PDA now also has:

  • - Information on tools
  • - Information on weapons
  • - use the W & S keys to navigate between the evidences, tool info and weapon info menus.

Patch for Tutorial

Fixed a bug in the Tutorial causing the Chiller to not work, thus making it impossible to complete the Tutorial.

Disinfection has been released on Early Access

A very exciting milestone, we're very excited!

Since this is an Early Access release it'll contain the base features:
You can play either alone or as a team of up to 4 players. Levels and infections are procedurally and randomly generated to keep things interesting and you can use a limited selection of tools to identify and destroy the infection whilst trying not to die from either the infection monsters or oxygen deprivation.

We're looking to get some early feedback on this core game, whilst adding all the new features on top of this basis.
