December 16 Hotfix Patch Notes

Happy patch day Valley Villagers!

We say this every time an update rolls around, but it bears repeating – thank you for your diligence in sharing your in-game experiences with us and flagging any issues and concerns you have! These continue to go a long way towards helping us identify, triage, and resolve issues, and this update is no different.

Today’s small hotfix update addresses a number of issues we saw coming up following the launch of Missions in Uncharted Space. Please see the list below for a breakdown of what to expect from the update:

Bug Fixes:

  • Story-related items will no longer appear in the crafting menu before they are intended to be available.
  • Improved feedback in Buzz Lightyear’s house to make it easier to exit.
  • “You're My Favorite Deputy” quest: Improved item spawns to prevent them from falling outside of the map or into static objects.
  • “Restoring the Sunstone” quest: We are continuing to push iterative fixes to help users who are still encountering issues with this quest. Today’s fix should help some players, but we are continuing to investigate, as we anticipate the issue may persist for others. We will be keeping a close eye on this through the next update.
  • “A Deal With Ursula” quest: Players will now be able to place the four crystals on the pedestals necessary to complete this quest.
  • “The Mystery of Stolen Socks” quest: The next step of this quest will now be accessible for players who clear the necessary trash. Donald and Dreamlight Valley thank you!
  • “The Illumination” quest: Placing the blanket fort in the house will now complete this quest.
  • Boba tea is great. Giant boba tea is even better! But in the Valley... maybe it was a little too big. Boba tea items will now appear as their intended, normal size.
  • Various stability and optimization improvements.

Missions in Uncharted Space Content Update

Hey Valley Villagers!

Starting today, you’ll be launching into exciting new adventures in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s second update – Missions in Uncharted Space. So what spaces are you charting out into? Watch, and then read-on for more!

Shrink down for a new Realm adventure!

It’s no secret that a new Realm door is unlocking in the Dream Castle – this time leading you to Bonnie’s room, the current safe haven for a familiar pair of toy-sized heroes; Buzz Lightyear and Woody! What’s more unique is that when entering this Realm, you may find things larger than life – or that you’ve shrunken down to toy-size! For a sneak-peek of what awaits you, check out our previously released trailer shared during the 2022 games showcase at the D23 Expo!

Once Buzz and Woody return to the Village, you will help Woody learn the magic of childhood memories and help Buzz as he enlists the support of Dreamlight Valley’s residents to establish its first Star Command outpost. You’re also in for a surprise as you help uncover the source behind some village mischief alongside Donald Duck, culminating in a new resident from beyond the stars!

A new Star Path begins!

In addition to decorating your Villages with homes for our new heroes from Disney’s Toy Story, you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to get into a festive mood with the release of the new Festive Star Path, filled to the brim with new and exclusive items to help you get cozy and warm in Dreamlight Valley.

Besides new clothing, furniture, and accessories, the Festive Star Path also includes the all-new Dream Styles feature that allows you to outfit both Mickey Mouse and Merlin in special festive “Dream Style” holiday fashions.

Seasonal Content

Will you build a snowman, explore the chilly peaks of Frosted Heights, or discover new festive recipes with all your Disney and Pixar friends as you celebrate the holidays together? It’s up to you in Missions in Uncharted Space – but know that we’re not stopping there. With the holidays on the horizon, you can expect festive activities later this December to celebrate the season of giving!

Community Driven Changes

We’re so excited to share this absolutely story and content packed second update with our fans – but what’s more is that we’ve also made sure to listen to your thoughts and take the time to shape the game with our players feedback in mind. Here’s just a few of the changes and additions that you can expect in this Update:

  • We’ve added a Day/Night toggle so that fans from every time zone can choose to enjoy Dreamlight Valley’s sunsets and sunrises as they choose! This is a visual change only, and will not affect gameplay.
  • Dress your best for the holiday season - new seasonally themed makeup has been added to the makeup category.
  • Up your efficiency! Brand new Royal Tool enchantments for Shovel, Fishing Rod, and Pickaxe.
  • Have a favorite memory? Highlight it in a special Memory Frame that was delivered directly to your player inventory!
  • Previously unlocked by players in our Wishlist Campaign (link to blog article) – the first Character Skins are available in the Valley! You can find two new ‘Dreamlight Styles’ for Merlin and Mickey available in the Festive Star Path.
  • Worried about the environmental concerns of leaving your lights on in your home? You can now toggle floor/wall lights on and off.
  • You can now hang out with Ariel! We can’t wait to see your adventures together.
  • It looks like Kristoff expanded his stall offerings – you’ll now find other purchasable materials on sale, including iron ingots.
  • Want to unlock your entire Star Path immediately? Optional Moonstone packages are now available for purchase.
  • Steam Deck users, rejoice! Disney Dreamlight Valley has been officially verified as fully compatible with Steam Deck.
  • Socks.
  • More surprises to come later this update!

Bug issues and resolution

Along with this update, we’ll be releasing a variety of bug fixes and improvements for many top issues reported by the Disney Dreamlight Valley Community. A huge thank you once again to everyone who has taken the time to report issues they’ve run into, and for everyone’s patience as we resolved them. As the game is still in early access, we will continue to do our best to address issues as they occur, and proactively prevent further bugs. See below for the lists of changes we previously noted in yesterday's patch notes:

IMPROVEMENTS & OPTIMIZATION

  • We are now fully compatible with Steam Deck and verified by Steam.
  • Optimized game stability on all platforms. In particular, we put a considerable focus on optimizing the experience on Nintendo Switch, which players should find smoother now. We will continue to evaluate the performance of each platform and push for further improvements and optimizations in upcoming updates as part of Early Access.
  • It’s getting chilly outside, so we’ve updated many of the fireplaces in Dreamlight Valley to allow you to manually light them. Exceptions include the Horned Tavern Fireplace, Cozy Fireplace, Antique Furnace, and Celestial Fireplace.
  • Kristoff has expanded the inventory of his stall to include a wider range of items (Pssst... there may be some iron ingots in there).
  • Improved wood distribution across all biomes. This change will make it so that the wood you find in each biome feels less random. While spawn rates will be slightly less frequent than before, each biome will now have a fixed set of wood that can spawn and will appear in consistent amounts, taking the guesswork out of gathering.
  • Buffed critter stomachs to allow for even more treat sharing. It is now possible to feed critters multiple times per day.
  • Reduced game loading times across all platforms.
  • Reduced game installation size.
  • Improved the loading of in-game assets to provide players with better performance.
  • Deployed optimizations to reduce chances of frame drops which were caused by certain animations.
  • Improved performance and memory usage of large gardens (50+ plants) while gardening.
  • Removed “dried plant” VFX to improve game performance.
  • Optimized various VFX to improve game performance.
  • Fixed memory leaks which led to reduced performance and crashes in certain circumstances.
  • Improved Item limits feedback in Furniture Edit Mode by adding a second on-screen counter. The top counter tracks the number of different items placed in the Valley, while the bottom counter tracks the total number of items, including duplicates. This should provide more clarity when reaching these limits, as like before, hitting either limit will prevent players from placing any more items in their Valley - unique items or total items respectively - until they remove items to make space.

BUG FIXES

  • All avatars now have the same animation speeds. Specifically, you will notice that crop watering and cooking animations have been updated to reflect this.
  • We’ve confirmed that critters are not conspiring against you. Critters that have been befriended through feeding will now correctly appear in the Collection menu.
  • Camera-shy no more! The avatar will now always look at the camera when in selfie mode.
  • Fixed a soft-lock which sometimes occurred when pressing the Return to Title Screen button.
  • The Collection menu now updates correctly when new resources are collected.
  • "A Deal with Ursula" quest: Players who previously had picked up the Dark Crystal should now be able to complete the quest.
  • "Photo Fervor" quest: The Elephant Graveyard can now be properly photographed.
  • "The Dreamlight Fountain" quest: The Celebration Ribbon will now be properly recognized when placed close to the fountain.
  • "Part of His World" quest: Players who were encountering a blocker will find the Nautilus consumable has been given back, which should unlock progression.
  • "Lair Sweet Lair" quest: When Goofy redecorated his house, he accidentally misplaced a quest-critical piece of paper. It has been recovered and returned to its expected position in his house.
  • "Peacemakers" quest: Improved collision issues with palm trees to reduce the chance of Leader Shards and other items getting caught in them.

Trick or Treat in the Valley!

Hey Valley Villagers!

Have you already uncovered the eerie-sistible Halloween-themed Village Dreamlight Duties?

Regardless of whether you’ve started them or not – we’ve got one last trick for the Halloween Season in Disney Dreamlight Valley!

In addition to all the Halloween content in the Villains Star Path (running until November 22nd), from October 24 until October 31, you will now find some extra treats around the Plaza in your Valley. Three different colors of Candy Bowls (red, green, and purple) will spawn in this area, acting as “chests”! Once opened, they will drop matching colored candies. Expect even more Candy Bowls to spawn on Halloween!

Once you’ve claimed your sweets, you can use them to decorate your Village, or complete Halloween-themed duties. Don’t forget to give your Villagers candies on Halloween, either! Or, you can eat them all; that’s up to you!

Keep in mind that Halloween Candies and Candy Bowls will not disappear after Halloween, but will stop spawning. You only have until the end of Halloween to claim them however, so don’t miss out on these sweet seasonal rewards.

Prepare and Beware… ‘Scar’s Kingdom’ is coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley!

Hey Valley Villagers!

We hope you’re ready for the first free major content update for Disney Dreamlight Valley Founder’s Pack owners and Xbox Game Pass members – NOW LIVE! Make sure your Avatar’s dressed for the heat – in this content update, you’ll be headed to the sun-drenched savannahs of the Sunlit Plateau biome where you’ll encounter the most recognizable villain from Disney’s The Lion King – Scar.

In ‘Scar’s Kingdom’, the iconic savannah of the Sunlit Plateau is in peril! The Pillar of Nurturing, once the key to keeping the Plateau vibrant and green, has dried up and is blocked by mysterious and dark magic.

In order to bring the Plateau back to life, you’ll team up with Scar – the would-be usurper of the Pride Lands who was trapped while The Forgetting ravaged Dreamlight Valley. You may want to equip your Royal Pickaxe too, as you’ll be headed to a new area deep within the Plateau’s mines to restore the Pillar of Nurturing and find the source of the problem, all while dealing with Scar’s less-than-honest motivations.

Introducing the Villain Star Path

In addition to Scar’s Kingdom content, you will find a new Star Path awaiting you on the Events page – this time, with a nefarious flair! You will need to tap into your dark side and befriend the villains living in the Valley, or perhaps just skulk around alongside them. As you complete event duties, you’ll be rewarded with tokens that you can spend on exclusive items inspired by Halloween and Disney villains. Sometimes, it’s good to be bad.

Seasonal Content

With Halloween on the horizon, you will find new items in the Scrooge Shop and new craft-able items at your workbench. We also have a few tricks and treats planned – stay tuned for more news soon!

Community Driven Changes

With all the new story, seasonal and Star Path content that has been included in Update 1, we wanted to take a moment to recognize some of the changes that we’ve made to the game based off Community feedback. Listening to the feedback of our passionate Community in the Early Access period is incredibly important to our team and the future of the game. We’re so thankful for everyone who’s taken the time to share their thoughts with us, be it their experiences or feature suggestions! Here’s just a few of the changes and additions that you can expect in Update 1:

  • We’ve changed the way that lightning appears in-game due to an accessibility concern for many players.
  • We hope that everyone can now enjoy the in-game storms! Plants watered by rain showers will remain watered afterwards – so now even your plants will enjoy the rain much more now.
  • Get ready to twin with Ariel and match your hair to even more outfits! We’ve added more hair color options for you to play around with.
  • We know how much love you have for your animal companions, so we’ve added a way for you to interact with them! Go give your pets some well-deserved attention for following you around while you planted 99 Okra.
  • Donald Duck has finally found his land-legs. You’ll find that he’s less clumsy, and less likely to trip and have a tantrum.
  • Remember the Avatar Designer Tool? You shared with us that you loved the photo mode – so we’ve added many of the same features to Disney Dreamlight Valley! We can’t wait to see all your new pics!

Bug Issues and Resolution

Finally, yet importantly, we are releasing many fixes for top issues that were reported by the Disney Dreamlight Valley Community. We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who reported their issues, but also for everyone’s patience while we work to resolve them.

As the game is still in early access, we will continue to do our best to address issues as they occur, and proactively prevent further bugs. For a full list of what has been included in this Update, please see HERE.

Should you run into any issues while playing Disney Dreamlight Valley, we first recommend that you check out our known issues HERE. September 15 patch notes

Happy patch day Valley Villagers!

We’re just shy of a week post-Early Access launch, and we’re happy to share with you the first patch for Disney Dreamlight Valley. We’ve been listening intently to your feedback shared through social media, Discord, and through Customer Care, and we have addressed many known issues in this patch. While the patch is now in the process of being released to all players (please make sure you’re connected to the internet to receive this), it may take up to 2 hours to receive it on your device. We recommend that you check back in every so often if you do not see it yet available.

For those playing on multiple devices with cross-save: Make sure that all platforms you play on have been updated before switching devices to prevent any further issues.

Please see the detailed list below of what to expect from today’s patch:

Balance:

Adjusted spawn rates and loot tables for sparkling buried items:

  • Increased respawn timer range.
  • Reduced minimum and maximum number of sparkling buried items to spawn at a given time per biome.
  • Added Dream Shards to the reward loot table.
  • Each sparkling buried item has a chance to spawn either 1-2 Night Shards or 1-2 Dream Shards.

Adjusted loot tables for feeding critters:

  • Removed Flowers from loot tables.
  • Added Dream Shards to the loot tables when feeding critters something they “like”. Previously, it was only possible to get Dream Shards from feeding critters something they “love.”
  • Adjusted loot tables for clearing Night Thorns:
  • Reduced chance of Coal dropping.
  • Increased chance of Dream Shards dropping.

Bugfixes:

General:

  • Fixed Error #7, which caused some players to experience an issue with the game sticking on the loading screen if they quit the game while having the "Well Fed" active buff.
  • Fixed account desynchronization issue that occurred when selecting Back to Title Screen on Epic Games Store.
  • Fixed issue causing some users to be desynchronized from their profile due to connection latency.
  • Improved online reconnection while playing.
  • Improved Founder’s Pack rewards claiming accuracy, granting missing rewards. We will continue to monitor this issue and explore further bugfixes as needed. If you experienced this bug: Please reconnect to the internet and check your inbox for a new message containing your missing items.

User Interface and Experience:

  • Increased text font size on Switch.
  • Increased menu loading speed.

Stability:

  • Reduced crash frequency on Switch. Additional optimization will come in future updates.

Quest:

  • Fixed an issue with quest items not appearing in Scrooge McDuck’s Store. If you experienced this bug: The item will not spawn in Scrooge McDuck’s Store, but will spawn in a random, unlocked location outside in the village as a backup. If you struggle to find the item, feel free to contact Customer Care.
  • Fixed an issue with WALL·E's "The Shy Little Robot" quest involving a fire extinguisher that was not working correctly. If you experienced this bug: You can find a fire extinguisher waiting for you inside Scrooge McDuck’s Store.
  • Fixed an issue with a quest item from Donald Duck's "A House Fit for a Duck" quest that spawned in an unreachable part of his house.
  • Fixed an issue with Scrooge McDuck's "Scrooge McDuck's Grand Re-opening" quest in which crafting flower pots did not work correctly. If you experienced this bug: You can find additional flower pots just outside Scrooge McDuck’s Store. Remove them using the Furniture Editing mode to craft with them.
  • Fixed an issue in which quest items were stuck in the bottom of the Mystical Cave on the beach.
  • Fixed an issue in which completing Goofy’s "Fishing Expedition" quest did not work correctly if the player’s inventory was full.
  • Fixed an issue in which a Memory Shard appeared in an unreachable part of Merlin’s Dreamlight Library.
  • Fixed an issue with Elsa's "What Home Feels Like" quest, in which it was possible to catch a Glittering Herring too early in the quest. If you experienced this bug: You can now catch another Glittering Herring. The other one will be removed at the end of the quest.

Customization (House, Valley, Avatar):

  • Fixed an issue in which chests placed in the player’s house may disappear when adding new rooms. If you experienced this bug: Add a new crafted chest to your house. Your items that disappeared will reappear here.
  • Fixed an issue in which players who imported clothing from the Avatar Designer Tool were unable to change clothing or clothing appeared invisible.
  • Fixed an issue in which some rewards from the Star Path would be available to acquire in areas of the game they were not intended to.
  • Fixed an issue with Ariel’s Seafoam Gown (Friendship Reward), in which it was displayed as invisible.
  • Fixed an issue in which the player could not cook on the Oven and Hood gifted by Remy (Friendship Reward).

Misc:

  • Adjusted Miguel motif.

A huge thank you to everyone for their patience while they awaited these fixes, and to those who are still waiting on others. Our team is aware that this patch does not address every issue, but please know that we are listening and actively working on resolving additional issues so that everyone has the best play experience possible.
