HOW DO I INCREASE MY COLLECTION LEVEL?

You can increase your collection level in one of two ways. The first is by unlocking and increasing the star level of different Racers and Crew. The second is by unlocking different cosmetic items such as race suits, kart liveries, wings, wheels & plates.

HOW DO I UNLOCK STARTER CIRCUIT CHAPTERS 4, 5, 6?

In order to unlock chapters 4, 5 & 6 of the Starter Circuit, you will need to unlock Mulan, Hercules & Captain Jack Sparrow. To earn Shards to help unlock Mulan, you can complete the Limited Event “Bloom in Adversity”. A similar Limited Event called “Bounty of Olympus” for Hercules is now available, and you can also unlock Shards for Jack Sparrow in a dedicated Regulated Multiplayer event.

HOW DO I UNLOCK CELIA MAE & RANDALL?

Celia Mae has a Limited Event running for the entirety of Season 1 called “Not In The Mood For Sushi”. Make sure to scroll to the right of the Seasonal Events page of the Limited Events tab to select it and earn Shards to unlock her.

Randall will be available to unlock for all players in Chapter 8 of the Season Tour.

HOW DO I UNLOCK FIGMENT?

There is a dedicated Limited Event called the “Imagination Cup” where all players can unlock Figment, available until Sunday May 8 at 1AM PT / 4AM ET / 10AM CET, and there will be another similar Limited Event later in the season.

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO PROGRESS IN THE GOLDEN PASS?

The best way to progress the Golden Pass is by completing races in Season Tour.

HOW DO I PERFORM DASHES & DO THEY DIFFER BASED ON RACER CLASSES?

To “Dash” another Racer, you need to press the right/left arrow on keyboard or flick the right thumbstick of your controller towards another rival Racer in order to crash into them. If you successfully collide with a rival Racer, it will either apply a beneficial effect to your Racer or apply a detrimental effect to the rival Racer depending on which Racer Class you have chosen.

See the below image for the various effects this will have on each Racer Class and their opponents.

HOW DO I PERFORM AERIAL STUNTS?

To perform an aerial stunt, you need to press the jump key/button while in mid-air after hitting a ramp or air lift.

HOW DO I PERFORM A DRIFT BOOST?

To perform a Drift Boost, you need to hold the drift key/button for an extended period of time. Your wheels will start to glow, and sparks will begin to fly. At this point you can release the drift key/button and you will receive an extra speed boost and will have successfully performed a Drift Boost.

LIMITED EVENTS

We will be both tweaking and adding several Limited Events to make players’ experience more rewarding. Limited Events will now appear more gradually as you increase your Collection level, becoming incrementally more challenging as you earn more experience in the game.
Make sure to check out the second page of Limited Events by scrolling down on the menu to obtain even more rewards!

UNLOCK MULAN – BLOOM IN ADVERSITY

The ”Bloom In Adversity” Limited Event has been added to assist players in earning the Shards required to unlock and/or upgrade Racer Mulan.

FEATURED UPGRADE PARTS

“Featured Upgrade Parts” Limited Event objectives have been simplified for new players. As you progress more in the game, the objectives will gradually become more difficult.

The ”Welcome to The Race” Limited Event is being taken out of rotation, and the associated rewards will be added to the “Featured Upgrade Parts” Limited Events.

IT ALL STARTED WITH A MOUSE

An additional 8 variations of this Limited Event have been added that will rotate each day. You are still guaranteed to be able to earn a Racer Mickey Mouse Shard upon the completion of this event, in addition to other rewards including cosmetics.

RACER BALANCING

MIKE WAZOWSKI

Racer Mike Wazowski is unlockable early for all players. With Upgrade Parts being readily available for him via the Golden Pass, Mike has been a go-to choice for many players at this early stage of the game’s release. While we understand that Racer Mike is extremely popular with players, we want to make sure that everyone can experience racing with many different Disney and Pixar Racers. We have also noticed that Mike appears frequently in Ranked Multiplayer with a high win percentage.

As players upgrade other Racers to match Mike’s level, we should see other Racers and Racer Classes become top picks for players to compete with. Additionally, as more players unlock, upgrade and become comfortable with more Racers and Racer Classes, we expect to see the gameplay experience naturally balance out and a more varied set of Racers on the winner’s podium. We will continue to monitor the situation and update players.

Disney Speedstorm Early Access Hits the Track on Steam

Disney Speedstorm Early Access Hits the Track on Steam

Disney Speedstorm Founder’s Packs – available in Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate tiers – are now available worldwide on Steam. In addition to Early Access to Disney Speedstorm, Founder’s Pack owners will also receive exclusive bonus items to offer players a fresh and exciting experience geared specifically for racing.

Founder’s Pack owners can race into single-player and multiplayer local and online modes, claim their spot on the leaderboards, kit out their racers with gear from the in-game shop and much more. In single-player mode, players can participate through the Season Tour narrative, which also serves as a jumping-off point to progress through each Season’s story.

STEAM FIRST WEEK BONUS

These exclusive Donald Duck cosmetics will be available to players that purchase on Steam during the first week of Launch as a First Week Bonus.

Each season offers new Disney and Pixar characters, karts, tracks, and more through local and online gameplay, giving racers plenty to be excited for when new seasons are introduced every 6-8 weeks. More competitive players can jump into Disney Speedstorm’s multiplayer modes, which include Local Freeplay, Private Track, Ranked Multiplayer, and Regulated Multiplayer - a race mode that allows players to compete head-to-head on an even playing field.

In the Local Freeplay mode, players can jump into single player or local multiplayer races with access to every launch racer (Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Megara, Hercules, Belle, the Beast, Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann, Mowgli, Baloo, Mulan, Shang, Celia Mae, Mike Wazowski, Sulley, Randall Boggs, and Figment) without needing to unlock them first!

The launch of Early Access also kicks off the game’s very first Golden Pass Season, which offers season-based challenges players can progress through to earn free- and premium-tier seasonal rewards every 6-8 weeks. Season 1 introduces the Monsters, Inc. crew – including Sulley, Mike Wazowski, Randall Boggs, and Celia Mae – as unlockable Racers along with a track inspired by the Monsters, Inc. films called “The Factory.”

There is a lot of content to unlock by playing the different Disney Speedstorm game modes, and Golden Pass Season owners are given extra opportunities to earn fragments for Racers and Crew Members, items to improve the stats of a racer’s collection, and options to customize their roster including outfits, vehicle liveries, wheels, victory poses, and much more.

Disney Speedstorm Dev Diary – New Music Previews

As we continue to deliver updates on what the game team has been working on to bring you the best combat racing experience possible, we also wanted to give you a behind the scenes listen of a very important aspect of the game, the music!

During the Closed Beta, we were overwhelmed with the sheer amount of excitement the game’s soundtrack received. It was amazing to see such a positive reaction to the game’s music tracks.
Our composers have been hard at work creating additional remixes of the tracks you heard during the Closed Beta and have come up with some amazing jams! You can listen to some short cuts of those tracks below, but that’s not all the team has been cooking up.

In the future, we will be releasing a video to give you all a better insight into the soundtrack creation process for Disney Speedstorm. You’ll get to meet the team behind some of your favorite Disney Speedstorm music tracks and learn how they create their magic. Keep your eyes and ears peeled to our social media channels for that and enjoy the teasers below in the meantime!

Disney Speedstorm Dev Diary – Regulated Multiplayer

During the Closed Beta, we saw lots of request from the community for a competitive multiplayer mode that focused solely on skill and not on how much you had upgraded your racers. We are delighted to reveal Regulated Multiplayer, a new mode that will do just that!

In today’s Dev Diary we will break down how Regulated Multiplayer works and how it is different from Ranked Multiplayer, the main competitive mode in Disney Speedstorm. You can read all about Ranked Multiplayer in a previous Dev Diary.

REGULATED MULTIPLAYER OVERVIEW

Regulated Multiplayer races are quite similar to Ranked Multiplayer races but there are some very important differences that set them apart.

During Early Access, there will only be one Regulated Multiplayer event active at any one time, and you will be able to play with any of your previously unlocked racers. Regulated Multiplayer
events will also have some “Guest Racers” available, providing a great way to try out other
racers, even if you do not yet have them unlocked yourself.

We plan to develop Regulated Multiplayer even further in the future based on player feedback during the Early Access period. Make sure to give us your feedback over on our official Discord.

LEVEL PLAYING FIELD

The real differentiator between Regulated Multiplayer & Ranked Multiplayer is the fact that all competing racers will be on a level playing field. This encompasses a number of things which are listed below:

1. All racers are set to the exact same Upgrade Level.
2. All racers are set to the exact same Star Level.
3. Crews are not active.

These parameters guarantee that all racers are on a level playing field and pure racing skill will decide the outcome of the race! One important thing to note is that while Crews are disabled
for this mode, you are still able to customize your racer and kart appearances!

REGULATED MULTIPLAYER POINTS & REWARDS

There are no Ranks or Leagues in Regulated Multiplayer, and the Score Points from Ranked Multiplayer are replaced by Regulated Multiplayer Points, which you earn by completing Regulated Multiplayer races. Your finishing position and current amount of Regulated Multiplayer Points determines how many you earn each race.

Earning enough Regulated Multiplayer Points will help you progress through milestones which will grant you rewards, including Multiplayer Coins and cosmetics. Regulated Multiplayer events are not tied to a Season like Ranked Multiplayer so when an event ends, your Regulated Multiplayer Points are reset to zero.

MATCHMAKING

Matchmaking works similarly to Ranked Multiplayer but, in this case, is purely based on your current Regulated Multiplayer Points total, meaning the system will always try to match you with players with a similar Regulated Multiplayer Points total.

That’s a wrap on Regulated Multiplayer! The team has worked extremely hard to implement this new game mode in response to the community’s feedback from the Closed Beta and we hope you will have a fantastic time competing with one another when Disney Speedstorm launches in Early Access on April 18 on PC and consoles.

Don't forget to follow us on our social media channels for all the latest news and make sure you pre-order the game and take part in our Community Challenge if you haven’t already!

Disney Speedstorm Dev Diary – Ranked Multiplayer

During the PC Closed Beta, players got to test their skills against one other in Ranked Multiplayer. We received lots of useful feedback about competitive balancing and requests for Ranked Multiplayer to be as fair as possible for all players. The game team has been working hard to ensure a ranked multiplayer experience that’s both competitive and fair, but also fun and rewarding for all players, regardless of experience level or skill.

In this Dev Diary we will explain how the Ranked Multiplayer system works and also reveal some of the exclusive cosmetic rewards you can earn by competing against your fellow Speedstorm community members online.

RANKED MULTIPLAYER OVERVIEW

If you are unsure as to what Ranked Multiplayer is, then don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! In Disney Speedstorm, Ranked Multiplayer is where you can compete online against other real players to rank up your racers and climb the leaderboards, earning exclusive cosmetics for your racers, as well as Multiplayer Coins to spend in the in-game Shop.

Before we break down how Ranked Multiplayer works, however, we do want to reveal an exciting new feature added since the Closed Beta. Players are now able to create a party with 1 or 2 friends in Ranked Multiplayer! Now you can compete for those top 3 podium places with your friends all the time!

SCORE POINTS & LEADERBOARDS

Ranked Multiplayer is all about ranking up. To do that, you will need to earn “Score Points” by competing in Ranked Multiplayer with different racers in your roster. The higher you place in a race, the more Score Points you will earn for that racer. If you perform poorly in a race, you can lose Score Points, so be aware that this score will rise and fall based on your performance. We will talk about Ranks & Leagues a little bit later on, but before we do that, we need to touch on leaderboards.

There are 2 types of leaderboards in Disney Speedstorm. There are leaderboards for each individual racer and a main global leaderboard. The important thing to know is that your position on the main global leaderboard is determined by the sum of Score Points across all of your racers. This means that mastering as many racers as you can is preferable to focusing on one sole racer in Ranked Multiplayer.

RANKS & LEAGUES

As mentioned above, it’s important to play Ranked Multiplayer with a variety of different racers to improve your global leaderboard position. Each racer in your roster can be ranked up and has their own set of rewards to unlock. Before we show you those sweet exclusive cosmetics however, we want to explain the concept of Ranks & Leagues.

Each racer has individual Score Point milestones to reach in order to increase their Rank. Progressing through 5 Ranks will result in you moving up to a Higher League where you will race against progressively more skilled players. There are total of 10 Rank Leagues to progress through for each racer.

It’s important to note that while your total Score Points level can increase and decrease, affecting your leaderboard position, you cannot lose a Rank once you have reached it during the season. Example: If you reach the Diamond Rank with Baloo, you will not drop below that level for the remainder of the season and will be guaranteed the rewards associated with reaching that rank with Baloo.

RANKED MULTIPLAYER REWARDS

There are a number of different rewards you can earn by competing in Ranked Multiplayer. These are split into rewards you earn by progressing through ranks during the season, and rewards that are granted at the end of each season.

Every time you reach a new Ranked League you will be instantly granted rewards which can include Multiplayer Coins, Tokens, Upgrade Parts and even Cosmetics. At the end of every season, you will also earn Multiplayer Coins based on your final Score Points for each racer in your roster.
We are also very excited to reveal the first ever look at the exclusive kart liveries you’ll be able to unlock for each of your racers that reach the Diamond Rank League.

MATCHMAKING

We also want to touch briefly on our approach to matchmaking. Our goal is to ensure that Ranked Multiplayer races are enjoyable for players of all skill levels and our matchmaking is designed to ensure players will be matched with players of similar skill as much as possible. The matchmaking system is based solely on your Score Points, so your performance during Ranked Multiplayer is the key factor. The better you perform, the higher the caliber of player you will encounter.

There you have it on Ranked Multiplayer & Rewards! Next time we will deep dive on Regulated Multiplayer, a new competitive multiplayer mode focused on skill and not upgrades to racers. More to come!

DISNEY SPEEDSTORM LAUNCHES IN EARLY ACCESS ON APRIL 18

The starting line is in sight and the moment you’ve all been waiting for is finally here! Disney Speedstorm races into Early Access on April 18 on Steam.

As part of Early Access, players will have the opportunity to be one of the first to race as Founders on racetracks inspired by Disney and Pixar worlds and receive exclusive rewards they will keep when the Early Access period ends.

Taking into account players’ feedback during the Closed Beta, we realized we needed a bit more time to add game elements and polish before moving forward with the full free-to-play game launch that we envisioned. However, we have decided to allow players to experience the game now in Early Access as Founders.

FOUNDER’S PACKS AVAILABLE APRIL 18 ON STEAM!

Disney Speedstorm Dev Diary – New Game Modes

As we’ve been gearing up towards the launch of Disney Speedstorm, one of the new things our team has been working on is the addition of some fresh game modes in order to give all racers a more varied and fun racing experience. We’ve already revealed Boss Mode, and now we’re ready to share more!
Today’s Dev Diary digs into the new modes that will be available at launch, so let’s check them out!

FLOATING OBJECTS

In Floating Objects races, all the skill boxes and speed boosters can be found up in the air, with players needing to hop in order to reach them. Players must time their jumps perfectly to acquire the skills or touch the boosters, putting their race craft and dexterity to the test. Jumping from booster to booster will also result in some amazing chain jumps!

FOG CHALLENGE

In Fog Challenge races, the track will be covered in fog, making it difficult to see the track ahead. The Mini Map will also be removed, making it harder for players to figure out the shape of the track and where they are located on it. This mode will reward dedicated players who know the ins and outs of each track!

SINGLE SKILL

In Single Skill races, skill boxes award all players with the same skill for the entirety of the race. For example, all players will pick up the Fire Skill every time they hit a skill box. The skill you will be using is determined before the race starts and there’s even the possibility that Unique Skills are the only pick up possible. These races will test your creativity on the track and teach players all about each specific skill and its uses (regular, charged, and backwards activations).

These fun new game modes will be waiting for you at launch, and more of them will be added in the future so keep an eye out for more news soon!
