I posted the Early Access Build 20170630 of Disputed Space. This build includes two big changes:
1) New Cockpit and HUD
2) New Manual Afterburner to replace the automatic Afterburner
The afterburner is currently set to Tab on the keyboard, left stick pressed on game controller, and button 5 on a HOTAS throttle device. These defaults may change in the future.
There is an orange bar to show how much energy is available for the Afterburner feature. When engaged, the Afterburner will disable strafing and reverse. The Afterburner gives a big speed boost forward for the player.
Early Access Build 20170626
I posted the Early Access Build 20170626 of Disputed Space. This build includes new volume control options. In previous builds, there was only a music volume slider. Now there are Master Volume, Music Volume, Sound Effects Volume, Player Weapons Volume, and Explosions Volume sliders.
Early Access Build 20170625
I posted the Early Access Build 20170625 of Disputed Space. This build dramatically improves the analogue movement control precision for both game controller and HOTAS style joystick players. Movement speeds now feel more linear than before.
Early Access Build 20170624
I posted the Early Access Build 20170624 of Disputed Space. This build includes a Simulator Control Scheme option in addition to the normal Arcade Control Scheme.
In the Main Menu of Disputed Space, select Options, Control, and then adjust the slider that says Arcade/Simulator. The Arcade control scheme is like Descent, and the Simulator scheme is similar to games like Elite Dangerous or House of the Dying Sun.
Early Access Build 20170620
I posted the Early Access Build 20170620 of Disputed Space. This build includes an Afterburner feature to help players quickly move around in large scenes. To activate your Afterburner, hold full forward throttle for at least 3 seconds without strafing or firing weapons.
I also posted an update today to improve the homing missiles. The homing missile now tracks more predictably for players.
Early Access Build 20170618
I posted the Early Access Build 20170618 of Disputed Space. This build includes a feature to make it easier for new players to identify enemy ships. Now when the player aims at a target, the dot in the center of the target reticle will switch from green to red if the target is an enemy. This new feature also doubles as a lock on indicator for the player's homing missiles.
Also included in this build is a fix for a bug found in the Continue menu. Previously, the Continue menu would continue on the last level the player completed instead of the next level after the completed level.
Early Access Build 20170617
I posted the Early Access Build 20170617 of Disputed Space. This build adds much more impressive capital ship explosions for enemy capital ships. Instead of a single explosion, now capital ships explode into a bunch of pieces and those chucks of the ship float around as more explosions rip through the remains of the capital ships. Blow up any enemy capital ship to see an example of this new explosion. Enjoy.
Early Access Build 20170615
I posted the Early Access Build 20170615 of Disputed Space. This build adds a damage visualization system to all of the enemy capital ships. As enemy capital ships are damaged, they will start to spark, then smoke, then have small fires, and finally have large fires. To test out this new feature, blast an enemy capital ship with torpedoes over and over.
Also included in this build is a fix for a mouse cursor hiding bug a few users had seen.
Early Access Build 20170613
I posted the Early Access Build 20170613 of Disputed Space. This build addresses one of the main issues noticed so far by reviewers and players, which is how the death and respawning was being handled in Disputed Space.
Now instead of instantly teleporting into a new ship upon death, the player will eject from the ship, watch it burn until it explodes, and then the player will be teleported to a new ship which is launched from one of the friendly carrier ships. This makes the death/respawn process much more obvious to the player.
This build also includes some tweaks to reduce eyestrain from firing the player's weapons.
Early Access Build 20170611
I posted the Early Access Build 20170611 of Disputed Space. This build addresses some of the issues noticed so far by reviewers and players.
Main improvement for this build:
Added a Bloom control slider to the Video Options page of the menu (ultra mode is seen in the videos; normal mode is an option with less bloom)
Minor improvements in this build:
Fixed several bugs in the Local Split Screen Co-Op Multiplayer Mode that showed up when exiting a co-op game and going back to the main menu and starting another game
Fixed a bug in the Pause menu (specific to how it was being handled while warping between levels; Pause is completely disabled now during warp sequences)
