Final Chapter: Heaven Storyline is available for Beta Testing! Make sure to switch to the “pre-release- Release Candidates” branch to test (currently in Simplified & Traditional Chinese only, and we are working on the English version for plots).
You will face the four generals guarding the Gate of Heaven in elite combat, and later face The Jade Emperor and his powerful team in the final combat. Based on your encounter before, you might be able to collaborate with both the Divine of Justice and Fallen Monkey General to take revenge and destroy Heaven!
Introducing new features
Moral Status: Good, Evil, or Neutral
We added a system to count how many “Good” choices and “Evil” choices you made during your journey from chapters 1-3 and will determine the character’s Moral Status when finishing up Chapter 3:
Good: Good Points > Evil Points AND Good Points >=5
Evil: Evil Points >= Good Points AND Evil Points >=5
Neutral: not Good nor Evil
How to earn Good Points?
Earn 5 Good Points for each Hostage saved
Earn 1 Good Point when making good choices in events or encounters (e.g. save or help people)
How to earn Evil Points?
Earn 5 Evil Points for drinking Demon Blood (special relic)
Earn 1 Evil Point when making Evil choices in events or encounters (e.g. kill, rob, or steal from innocent people)
You can check out your moral status by clicking on the profile picture of the hero, and we will add more guidance and in-game notification about good or evil choices.
Multiple plot-based triggers: each character will trigger different plots and conditions to enter the Heaven Storyline after encountering Divine of Justice at the end of Chapter 3:
Wukong can enter Heaven Storyline with Good or Evil moral status
White Dragon can enter Heaven Storyline regardless of Good, Evil, or Neutral
Holy Monk can enter Heaven Storyline with Good or Neutral moral status
Based on your moral status and previous encounters, you will learn about the final fate of heroes, key characters, and the truth about the blood comet
*Please note that we are still testing and polishing this new system, plots, and NPCs, so the conditions above are subject to change.

This week, we continue working on chapter 4 development, optimization performance, and fixing bugs. We are also making good progress on the card redesign project.
Chapter 4 Update:
We are on track to release internal testing for Heaven storyline (chapter 4);
We continue working on testing, adjusting, and polishing NPC skills and battle logics, and implementing Soul Mountains storyline.
We added a significant amount of music, sound effects, and animations for chapter 4 NPCs.

Card visual redesign
Based on feedback from our community, we are remaking ALL cards with a cleaner UI design (clear differentiation among card types and rarity) and more visualized card icon to differentiate each card.
This is a huge effort (close to 500 cards) and we will not roll them out to the public branch until we have finished all existing cards. Stay tuned with the latest working progress!

Workshop Update:
We finished the preparation of Steam Workshop support; will be working on a system providing the MOD modification and uploading functionalities. We don’t have a clear timeline of when to open the Steam workshop since most of our effort is still on developing and optimizing the Chapter 4 contents.
Chapter 4 Update:
We finished all character design and storyline for Heaven in Chapter 4, and we are working on testing, adjusting, polishing NPC skills and battle logic, and implementing other storylines.

This week, we finished up a new plot editor, which is a significant upgrade to our infrastructure, and continue working on chapter 4 development.
Chapter 4 updates:
New seal mechanism WIP. You can’t beat the Omen but can only seal it. Here is how it works: Goddess of Mercy will enchant all cards randomly with 5 elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth, and you need to follow the seal sequence each round carefully to finish the seal.

We deployed a brand-new plot editor which supports modularized story blocks and storyline visualization. This is a significant improvement to our current infrastructure and makes the implementation of storylines cleaner, more efficient, and easier to debug

Game version description
Due to frequent version changes, game save files are easily expired. In order to solve this problem, the old version will be retained in the form of a test branch, so that if there are some game saves corrupted by game updates, you can always switch to the old version branch to continue playing

This week, we are focusing on polishing endless mode, bug fixes, and also keep working on developing the final chapter. We will have to push the timeline of the release of Chapter 4 for 3 weeks to Mid July, we appologize for the inconvenience. There are 3 main factors contributed to the delay:
We are adding more content to this chapter than what we’ve planned;
Two of our artists left the team due to personal reasons and we spent significant amount to time to search for and initiate collaboration with new partners;
We spent more time testing, adjusting, and fixing bugs for endless mode than we planned

Major updates this week are:
Endless Mode is out!
In the Endless mode, you will start your journey with the same chapter 1-3 map, but very different combinations of NPCs - endless new combinations generated to meet you at different difficulty levels
After each playthrough of 1-3 Chapter, you will randomly and permanently inherit 1 out of 5 features from the playthrough (choose to keep 1 relic, decide to keep 1 card, keep 100 gold, keep 1 talent point, keep 1 backpack slot) and continue the game from the beginning
These inherited features will be applied to all the playthroughs cumulatively so that you will get stronger and stronger after each playthrough. Of course, your enemies will get much stronger after each playthrough too

Jade palace: One of the final battles will happen inside the Jade Palace - where Jade Emperor lives
