Dog Duty

It's been a while!


Hi there!

We're adding a final layer of details on the game world. There's a replacement for the game shop, a total overhaul on the Hub World (the first world the player visits), and a lot of things to bump your vehicle with.

We're hoping to send this new update live at the end of this month, but, hopefully, earlier.

It's now time to to a more deep work on the worlds navigation. To make a better space to drift around, blow things up and run amok.

24 December. It's been a while!


(This is a stealth test for Dog Duty, on March, 2015)
With all the worlds on shape, I've took a time off to observe the game from outside. To make a reality check on everything.

Well, it's time to do a final push, to release the final game. There's some bug and performance fixes uploaded yesterday, and some key targets to work ahead.

The updated list ahead contains:

-rework on some parts of the worlds
-addition of more of what we call "road combats"
-some vehicle fixes issues
-Rework on some stage locations
-Shop related issues, money balancing, etc
-Paula's voice actor
-Add some more weapon consumables
-more bug and optimization fixes
-Unique boss for River and Swamp
-Final boss
-new intro animation, end game animation
-change some game sounds
-more music tracks

It's great to see Dog Duty reaching it's completion, but it's still hard to me to set a final deadline. I'm personally planning to finish everything on February, 2018, but something says that March will be a more honest final deadline. Only time will tell, and we will be doing our best to finish the game as best as possible.

(PS: we planned to release a patched version, with Romeo playing as Santa, but the HUB redesign got our time.)

Week 23 - River World


That's it. The last of the 3 worlds on Dog Duty, it's on.
There's a lot of notes and I'm not sure what needs to be mentioned first. I will just go as it feels:
-The new character, Paula, is using Rebecca's voice for now.
-The boat movement needs some work, and you may use the boat to do some weird physics stuff. We will be working on it.
-The River world boss, as the Swamp boss, is temporary. There will be a unique boss for both worlds, on a future world.

That's it for now. For content, here's what we need to work to complete the game:
-Swamp and River unique Bosses
-The final battle, with it's bosses.
-The game ending
-Soundtrack additions
-Sound effects

There's some really great bug reports that we're getting, and they will be our new priority from now on. If you have spotted a bug, please, tell us, on any way you feel better.

Week 22 - Almost there



We've got the levels on. We're now turning to finish some little things:
- populating levels with enemy soldiers and testing gameplay
- finishing Paula's character (the voice acting part, mostly)
- finishing touches on the river's main weapon, the Tesla Pack
- some water effects

And I think that's it. I'm dying to finish all and get back to bugs and testing.
(PS: yep, it's the same Desert Boss. I'm scheduling the unique Swamp and River bosses for a future development phase).

Nothing much to say, just designing levels. There's almost 2 ready, and 4 to go.
Below, the armor depot:


We hope to upload the River World with it's 6 locations in 2 to 3 weeks.

Week 18 - some bugfixes

Here comes the list:
-fixed bug where soldier got stuck on turret
-fixed gamefile consumables quantity registry (soldier's armor is now saved too)
-fixed some occasions where a mysterious soldier dont show up (generally when it's the last mission before location conquest).
-some save/load file issues
-misc

So here we are. If you see any bug, feel free to talk about it here, on the forums. Your help is really appreciated (fixing bugs makes us feel lighter too).

We're expecting to give definitive touches on the River World for the next weeks.

Week 17

The good news is that we received some really really great bug reports this lask week.
The bad news is that I've got sick since Thursday, and the recovery is really taking some time.
The worst part is gone, and I'm eager to get back to the bug hunt.
