This is the seventh and final in a string updates themed around major changes to the game. On September 22nd, 2016, we're releasing the 1.0 version of Dog Sled Saga to Steam, Google Play, and the Apple App Store!
The release date is the big news, but this final update has got some tricks up its sleeve as well.
What's coming in 1.0?
Lots of new features are already completed for the full release, plus a few that are still coming together...
The future
Version 1.0 won't be the last you'll hear of Dog Sled Saga! There are a number of ideas we had during our Kickstarter campaign that we would still like to develop as major post-release updates to the game.

Heads up - raising the base price of Dog Sled Saga on Monday 8/29
We've decided to increase the base price of Dog Sled Saga to $9.99 USD on next Monday, August 29th around noon CST. Just two days after that, we'll have a big announcement.

We've always felt that some skills, especially those that provide a speed boost, overpower all of the other ones. We enacted a long-planned change to help bolster the other skills. Introducing Star & Support skill classes! Also introducing the German Shepherd breed!
This looks to be the last or second to last of these updates before the final release!

Ever feel like you can't keep all your growing kennel of dogs practiced and rested? Now you can hire one or two extra pairs of hands! Employees can let you multitask (or just regimen more dogs,) and some of them have perks to do tasks better than you can. You'll have to pay for employees on hire and with your monthly expenses.
This is a smaller update post than the past few, but we're excited to release a nice new management feature and cool employee art that's been queued up for a while!

This update is all about giving you better information about your team before you make decisions, and after the consequences of your decisions have occurred. We don't want you to need to jump in and out of different menu screens to answer the questions you might have about your situation in the game.

We've made some changes to the ups and downs that your dogs will experience over the course of their career. Many stats have been altered to make managing your team more challenging and interesting.

Instead of only waiting for the next race, you now must choose what to do with your dogs on off-days.
Currently, you may train or give care to as many of your dogs as you'd like per day. In a future update, you will be more limited, but you will be able to hire additional employees to help you...
Perfect catch changes
Perfectly timed catches are even more valuable now! Effects:
New dog breed - Samoyed
Another long-awaited sled-pulling dog added to the roster! Even fluffier than our Malamute, but with a smaller frame beneath the fur. Hire one for your team!

Update October 10, 2015 - Fix crashes related to certain skills, improved fullscreen support, updated backend frameworks
If you've been unable to start the game
Give it another try - might just work now! Otherwise, please check your launch options and try the following:
Right click Dog Sled Saga in your Steam Library and choose "Properties"
In the "General" tab, click "Set Launch Options"
Type "-w" (for windowed) OR "-b" (for borderless windowed fullscreen) and hit ok
Close the window and try running the game
If the game has been crashing in the middle of races
I fixed an issue in the last build (long standing, now!) that will resolve that issue.
It has been a long time since we updated, but the project is picking up steam again! I experienced a long period of burnout that led to a fun side-project (FireWhip for iOS and Android) but also, unfortunately, an unproductive couple of months. Back on the horse, now - lots of substantial updates queued up!
