Minor update 2.03

Hello fellow dollcitizens,

Here is a new update to Doll City. There are major changes in the way locomotion is handled:

- Instead of using the menu to change locomotion modes, you can now do this directly ingame by quickly pressing the menu button on the left controller (quick switch mode).

- You can also switch the trackpad to tactile mode by choosing the option in the ingame menu.

Bug fixes and improvements:

Ingame Menu in roomscale mode

- Quick switch mode for locomotion

- Tactile trackpad option added

- Menu now shows which level you are playing

Level 9

- Added new SFX and music

- Increased difficulty

- Bots aiming got better

- Electric grids and bladed gears now cause damage

- If you die during the fight, a teleporter appears to transport you directly to the fight zone

Have fun!

Minor update 2.02

Hello fellow dollcitizens,

Here is an update focused mainly on user interface, menus and locomotion (we are considering integrating additional forms of locomotion in the future, such as tactile trackpad, teleportation with fade to black...)

What's new with this update?

Bug fixes and improvements:

- Falling mechanics (level 1 to 8 in roomscale mode). Beware: from now on, one foot above the void = falling!

- Reintegration of trackpad locomotion (level 1 to 10 roomscale mode) with handling of speed by sliding trackpad up and down)

- Menu has been fixed: selection in the menu doesn't create conflicts anymore

- Fixed block volumes that kept the player from moving in some parts while using trackpad locomotion

- Decrease of blinking effect

Added :
- Post process when shot
- A terminal regenerates health in level 9 (will be useful for the upcoming levels 😉)
-Graphics improved in level 4
- New gameplay mechanics in level 9

Have fun!

Minor update 2.01

Patch Mode Room :

-Fixed

level 10 : fix floor (only tp)

level 9 : loading fix

level 8 : the parts where the player was teleported on top of the roof. Right now trackpad locomotion still has issues here, so we disabled it for this level. It will be reactivated as soon as possible. In the meantime you can explore this level by teleportation.

level 1 : video now works

General fix :

-material correction and minor addition

Major update 2 - Oculus Touch support and more

Hello, fellow doll citizens!

We want to thank you for all your feedbacks. We haven't included all of your suggestions yet, but many have been taken in account with this update, and the other ones should be included in the next minor updates (see list at the end).

For this major update, we have included:

- The Oculus Touch support in roomscale is of course the big addition brought by this update. We know that you are a lot to have been waiting for it since a long time, and we want to thank you for your patience. We hope that you will have a lot of fun discovering Doll City in roomscale mode.

- New introductions in levels 1 and 3

- Correction of the roomscale menu on the return button on the graphics pannel

- Correction of the ingame menu for the trackpad locomotion speed

- Added: a switch to quickly choose between teleportation and trackpad
locomotion without the need to enter the menu to keep the game immersion. Teleportation is considered as one of the character's abilities, and sometimes you will have to switch to this locomotion mode to keep going.

(note: right now, the trackpad mode encounters conflicts in a few levels, and so it has been deactivated in those levels for the moment.)

- Minor bugs and some elements of the scenery have been fixed

- Correction of the fall during level 7 in roomscale mode

The next updates should include: (the elements are not sorted in any particular order)

- Correction of the selection problems in the in game menu
- Reactivation of the saving system
- Addition of new drugs
- Play/stop interactions with the music radios
- Sounds on every items with which the character can interact
- Trackpad locomotion fixed on every level
- We will progressively add the remaining levels
- Block volumes on every item
- Health regeneration system
- Integration of the scenario
- Deployment of the final sound design on every level
- Return of the defense turrets

Best,
Infiniverse team

Minor update 1.5

The 1.5 update contains:
-all the levels have been unlocked
-level 5: no more infinite falling that could happen at the end of the level
-level 6, 8 and 10: improved level streaming
-improved signalisation (arrows)

Thank you for your feedbacks! For the next major updates, our two priorities are reintegrating the saving system and adding support of the Oculus Touch.

New major update

Hello, fellow doll citizens!

Here is the first major update including new gameplay and levels both for gamepad and roomscale modes.

For now roomscale mode is only available for HTC Vive. But don't worry, Oculus Rift support should be relased soon, we're working on it.

What's new:

- 10 levels for gamepad mode, for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift
- 10 levels for Roomscale mode, for HTC Vive
- New gameplay for gamepad mode, with first person view and sidescroller third person view
- Several choices of locomotion: teleportation/dash/trackpad
- Items to pick up (access cards, boxes, hallucinogenic substances...)
- Advanced interactions with the environnment
- A unique trip, in a universe where blurring the lines between reality, mind trips and virtuality
- New design for the comic book events
- New sounds and music (a lot remains to be included yet)
- New ingame menu
- A way to switch graphics quality/supersampling

Though this isn't the final version, it allows the players to have a good preview of where Doll City is heading to: a game mixing exploration and immersion, with various gameplay phases.

The game immerses you in the story of a derelict megalopolis told through full-scale comic-book pages, with a soundtrack paying tribute to early 80s electronic music.

Welcome to this new update of Doll City, a one of a kind cyberpunk trip.

Doll City : news

Hello fellow Doll-Citizens!

First, we would like to apologize for the long silence, we missed you too! But no worries, we are still hard working on Doll City's development!

Many things happened during summer, one of the programmers left the team to work full-time on his own projects, leaving us with a lot of stuff to re-organize. The original team is now back on tracks, and we had to clean the project of every unfinished piece of code and come back to our original idea of what the game should be. Although it was very time-consuming, we are very happy with the results so far and it's a pleasure to find a better work atmosphere!

Before making this announcement, we wanted to make sure we could keep on our promises and deliver a good game, so here is what you should expect:

- A better, tighter and more intuitive gameplay
- More interactions with the environment
- More levels and music
- Better translations and user interface

This next update including the first 10 levels for both modes (seated 3rd person mode, and roomscale 1st person mode) to give you a better overview of what the game will be.

See you very soon!

Beta hotfix_1

Hello fellow Doll-Citizens!

We released a hotfix that corrects most of the bugs and problems you may have encountered.
Don't forget to use the Steam Community to share your experience and report bugs we missed.

Doll City Beta is now available!

Hello fellow Doll-Citizens!

First thank you all for your patience! The long awaited beta is finally here, and you can access it using the beta branch of the game (properties --> BETA --> dollcitybeta). Of course, the game still being in beta, there will be probably some bugs left. We will spend the next days correcting every error that we can find. We will be checking the discussion boards daily so feel free to give us your feedback and comments!

Being a very small team (at first we were two developpers, a sound designer and a scriptwriter), we originally planned Doll City as a smaller VR side scroller project. But when we laid our greasy little hands on the HTC Vive and discovered roomscale, it blew our minds! This is why we kept improving the game mechanics and had to re-imagine everything to meet our expectations of what a VR game should be. We hired a third developper to help us and took the hard decision to delay the release of Doll City by a few month in order to offer you a complete and satisfying VR experience.

We added a more complex gameplay, including infiltration and shooting. We also decided to create a much bigger environment, with some entire neighbourhoods ready for exploration. We also had to rewrite the main storyline to remain coherent with the game's universe and the new levels. More polished sounds and music have also been added (a lot are still waiting to be integrated though) and we began working on the overall mix.

Today you are going to get your first taste of these new features, and we hope you'll like it! The final version is getting closer evryday, and we can't wait for you to discover the whole story and many surprises of Doll City.

Again we want to thank you all for making videos or sharing your feedbacks with us. This really helped us improve the game.

Important information about this update:

- Doll City gets a new, more complex gameplay: infiltration.
- Right now, roomscale mode is only available for the HTC Vive. But we are working hard on bringing it to Oculus Touch as soon as possible.
- Seated mode can be played with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift or OSVR, with an old fashioned early 21st century gamepad.
- The options menu is not available yet. It will be available in a short time.

What's next:

- New levels, which will lead you to the conclusion of the main story and uncover some dark secrets...
- New gameplay elements will make their appearance in the final version.
- To thank you for your patience, a free bonus mode will appear shortly after the final release. It will have a part of the city in free roaming mode, with new things to discover: minigames, musics, videos...

Cheers!

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes! Big update coming in a few days!

We are proud to announce that the first big update to Doll City is finally coming the 23rd of April! It took us a while, but we made lots of changes to the gameplay system, lots of new sfx and music as well as many other things which you will discover by yourselves...

First, roomscale gameplay will only be available for HTC Vive. A roomscale Oculus version is in the works, and will follow shortly. However, it will still be possible to play the game in seated mode (both Vive & Oculus).

For all of you who followed us or invested in the early access, we want you to know that we worked like crazies to make Doll City what it is now and want to thank you for your patience and useful comments! It took more time than we thought, but we are very proud of the result. You will be able to make your own opinion in a few days, and we can't wait for your reactions!

Of course, we will provide more information and details when the update releases on 04/23/17.

Cheers
