DOOM TOMB Patch: Alpha 3.5.0

Balance Changes:




  • Explorer "Punch": It was frustrating to have extracting / installing actions constantly interrupted. It now costs 5 willpower to interrupt an action (it still only costs 1 willpower to punch a player who isn't installing / extracting)
  • Jump Pad Rune: It could be very frustrating to chase a player with a bunch of jump pad runes available. There is now a 1 second channel time to allow for some counterplay.
  • Dream Journal: Since the willpower transfer to teammate update, willpower items are too strong. Willpower given decreased from 8->5
  • Chad's Jacket: For the same reason as Dream Journal, Willpower given decreased from 10 -> 7

Quality of Life Changes:




  • The explorer "punch": now comes out faster so it isn't as awkward to time the hit.
  • Extracting / installing: There's now an animation to show when a player is extracting / installing.
  • Component Visibility: New players had difficulty finding components around the map. To help new players better track the objective, components now glow orange through walls, and this glow disappears when that component is already installed
  • Fire Pit Visibility: Players also had trouble finding fire pits, which is an essential part of finding other players. Fire pits now glow red through walls to show new players where to go
  • Invisibility: Players can now see their outlines in black as they go invisible, this will help Invis users avoid bumping into walls and obstacles when invisible. They can also jump and let go of sprint while invisible without cancelling their ability.
  • How to Play menu: Updated with additional slide explaining the explorer "punch" mechanic / an up to date component extraction video.


Bugs fixes and adjustments:




  • Fixed a bug where clients that cancelled a grapple early could get stuck in a state where they'd "teleport" around
  • Numerous small adjustments to The Tomb and Dig Site (obstacles, clipping structures, etc..)
  • Fix a bug where xray/soul seeing would show some blue on a pink character
  • Fixed a bug where you could immediately hit a players after being hit to transfer the demon back
  • Fixed a bug where being hit while installing or extracting would let you move around while "downed"

What's new?



Survivor's "Push" ability:



In 2 v 2s, players not being actively chased felt like they had little to do beside collect and install components. Players would basically ignore other non-possessed players and run to components and back to the elevator over and over. That was pretty boring, so...

Explorers can now left click to hit other players. When another player is hit, they are knocked back and their installing or extracting component action is cancelled. This ability costs 1 willpower per hit, so use it sparingly! (You can also push your teammates to launch them through the air)



Bug Fixes:




  • Fixed a bug where the server-side Climb cooldown wasn't working as intended

DOOM TOMB Update: Alpha 3.3.0

Quality of life changes:



Team recognition:




  • Players felt it was too difficult to distinguish teams from the color of the backpack. Explorers now carry a glowing outline of their team's color to limit confusion.

  • On a similar note, there was no way to distinguish between team mates and enemies when using the x-ray ability / seeing souls. Players now have their silhouettes matching their team's color.

  • The player details bar now shows the name of each player, accurately tracks the number of components held, and has a clear indicator showing who is possessed.


Balance Changes




  • Climb: The lack of cooldown made this ability far too easy to abuse. Climb now has an 8 second cooldown between uses.

  • Xay: No longer requires the user to be grounded.

  • The Ravine: The warp zone still let the explorers get too much distance on the demon. The demon now warps closer to the ground to reduce distance gained by explorers.


Bug fixes:




  • Fixes a bug where hitting a player while they were installing a component would let the installation go through

DOOM TOMB Patch: Alpha 3.2.0

Balance Changes:




  • Xray: This ability felt bad to use since its effect was the same as the soul seeing from fire pits. The xray ability now also shows the location of items around the map to users.

  • Drift: The previous drift buff made the ability oppressive on open maps like Dig Site. Active time decreased from 6 -> 3 seconds.

  • Clone: The ability cast VFX were too long on this ability, making it obvious when a clone was deployed. The VFX duration was sped up so that players can be more creative with this ability


Bug fixes and adjustments:




  • Fixed a bug where the end game recap would include time possessed from previous matches

  • Small map adjustments to The Ravine

DOOM TOMB Patch: Alpha version 3.1.0

What's new?



Bug Fixes:




  • Xray still felt underwhelming to use and a poor choice overall. Cooldown reduced from 12 -> 6 seconds.

  • It felt demoralizing to play against Obstacle, which was off cooldown just a little too often. Cooldown increased from 18 -> 20 seconds.

  • Drift also consistently underperformed. To help people make better use of the ability, cooldown reduced from 14 -> 9 seconds.

  • The Ravine's warp zone let survivors create too much distance on the demon, added an area to slow down survivors when the warp to the top of the map.


Balance Changes:




  • Fixed a bug where players could climb infinitely

  • Fixed a bug where players could use items to move while extracting and installing components

  • Small UI tweaks
