DOOM TOMB UPDATE: Alpha 3.0.0

New map: The Ravine.



This map takes DOOM TOMB to new heights. On their way to the sacred tomb, the explorers scaled across a large ravine, building bridges, boost pads, and staircases along the way.



Balance changes:




  • Climb Ability: This ability felt underwhelming and with very narrow uses. The ability was reworked to allow players to change direction mid climb, and improve ability consistency. The crouch speed was also problematic at some areas of certain maps. Crouch speed decreased from 450 -> 300 (still much greater than the default 150 crouch speed)


  • Obstacle: Users could trap themselves in a corner and spam the obstacle ability to be permanently out of the demon's reach. The Obstacle will now disappear 3 seconds before the ability comes off cooldown (used to stay active for the entire ability cooldown). Additionally, Obstacle users can now see a shadow of where the obstacle would be placed so they don't stun themselves as often!

  • Xray: This ability has felt quite underwhelming. Active time increased from 3 -> 5 seconds

  • Dream Journal: The item has been simply too strong. Now can only be used when not possessed. Reading time increased from 3 -> 4 seconds. Willpower gain decreased from 10 -> 8.

  • Chad's Jacket: In the previous patch, teammates will drain each other's willpower instead of dying. This change made Chad's jacket much too strong. Willpower decreased from 20 -> 10

DOOM TOMB Patch: Alpha 2.2.0

What's new?



Game mode changes:



No one likes being stuck in spectator mode. Instead of dying, players will now siphon willpower from their healthy teammates and keep playing! Win as a team, or die as a team!

Balance changes:



  • Obstacle rune was simply too strong. To allow for some better counterplay, the user must channel for 1 second before use (channeling doesn’t decrease move speed in this case)
  • The last changes to drift weren’t enough, the ability was still underwhelming. Steering has been drastically increased. Cooldown decreased from 18s -> 14s


Bug fixes:



  • Fixed bug where obstacle would cause severe camera jitter for clients
  • Fixed bug where Steam VR would boot on game startup
  • Fixed bug where willpower would decrease when downed

What's new?



Balance changes




  • Drift Ability: This ability has felt underwhelming. To compensate for this the max speed had been doubled and the floor friction increased accordingly
  • Juice Box and Ritual Knife: These move speed giving items were nice, but the channel time was simply too long. Activation time for both has been decreased down to 1 second (from 2.0 and 1.5 sec respectively)


Bug Fixes




  • Fixed bug where turning off UI would cause player to go invisible
  • Fixed bug where players could use abilities, items and attack after being downed (during countdown)
  • Fixed bugs relating to the clone interaction with xray / soul seeing. The user can now see newly spawned clones (regardless of whether they're client or host)
  • Fixed bug where if you hit your opponent while tethering you would get stuck in the grappling state

DOOM TOMB Hotfix: Alpha 2.0.1

Map Changes



The Tomb: Some sections of the map were too dark, extra torches have been so you don't trip! Some regions were also too narrow and have now been widened.

Dig Site: Oops, removed some floating torches and re-adjusted the excavation area (again).

Balance:



Because of the lingering blue ability indicator, it was too easy to see where Invisibility users were running.

  • Shortened indicator time from 2s -> 0.5s for invisibility only
  • decreased invisibility time from 5s - > 4s

DOOM TOMB Update: Alpha 2.0.0

NEW MAP: THE TOMB



Explore The Tomb, the site desecrated by the explorers who accidentally unleashed the demon that now consumes them.



The original map is now called Dig Site, and has also seen a few adjustments in the excavation area.



Quality of life changes:



Having trouble tracking the demon as you run away? No problem. Players can now use the E key to look behind them in chase.

Back end overhaul (boring stuff):



Significant backend changes improve the reliability of player level and rating data, and help prevent cheating.

DOOM TOMB hotfix: 1.0.3

What's New?




  • The default ability available level 1 was Drift. This ability is difficult to use and requires a moderate understanding of the game. To better new player experience, the default ability is now Xray, which will help new players better track their opponents. Drift is now available as a level 9 unlock.

  • Fixed a bug where Xray and Soul Seeing would occasionally not reveal players properly.

What's new?




  • Do you like Jump Pads? Everyone likes Jump Pads. Maybe you’ve dreamed of having a spare one to combo with your Glide ability. Maybe you just like the Boing sound when you bounce on one. Either way, you can now select the jump pad as your Item to combo with your ability of choice. You can even use it alongside the Jump Pad ability for even more Jump Pads!

  • On a similar note, Players can also choose a deployable obstacle as a selectable Item to combo with other abilities, such as Invisibility to make a clean getaway, or maybe just the Obstacle ability to block off twice as many passageways.

  • Leveling system: Players will now start level 1 and unlock abilities and items as they complete matches.

  • Some quality of life changes:

    • Your selected loadout will now persist when returning to the lobby, no need to re-select your loadout before getting into another game.
    • Players can now cancel the Drift and Glide abilities by pressing their ability button a second time!
