I hope you are all doing well! It's been four years of radio silence from me, and I believe it is time to break it back open... I've been very hard at work creating something new for quite a long time. Believe me when I say, that I've wanted nothing more than to announce this project to you. But it wasn't quite ready for some time, confidently I might add.
I'd like you all to know that I've read every comment and criticism there was to offer about Door to Door, and of course some of it stung a little. But I took it to my best interest to give myself a zero option scenario to vastly one-eighty my mistakes and shortcomings.
So here I am, making a cautiously optimistic announcement to finally introduce you to a game I've been entranced in for all this time.
I am writing this message to issue a most sincere apology to those whom have generously waited for subtitle support. It is with great regret to inform those supporters that Door To Door will NOT be getting subtitle support. Why is that?
Door To Door is built on an older version of the Unreal Development Kit Beta. This differs from the Unreal 3 source code. Upon trial and error, research and development of English subtitles; it was discovered this exact technical issue has been prevalent of several beta engine formats this old. Keep in mind, this sort of issue does not happen anymore. The migration to another engine will not be taking place.
For those seeking some compensation, I understand. The least I can do is supply every last one of you with a compiled Door To Door game script. This script includes ALL the important voice dialogue in the game including canceled content such as radio dialogue. It is 153 pages.
I will also be remaining the price of $6.99USD or regional equivalent for final release.
Today, Door To Door will be getting its FINAL update.
This update includes;
1.) Increased distance on LOS Trigger in Case-File; "Low Freq Corn Syrup"

New to Door To Door? Drawer 1 Vs Drawer 2
Before Door To Door transitions into its final release, here is a little something new players may find helpful.
It is without a doubt that Door To Door will flush you into a large, free world with a lot to soak in.
The best initial approach into this world would be up to you. This decision is actually behind the Drawers as opposed to the Case-Files themselves. While the Drawer 1 Case-File; "Dogs With Shoes" will supply you the introduction, you may find out it is your not desired first approach.
What is the difference between Drawer 1 and Drawer 2?
Drawer 1 will actually expect more from the player. It will test their navigational and memory skills to learn the Lounge District. From riddles that define landmarks to clues that triangulate specific locations. Drawer 1 is more the route for those looking for this kind of challenge.
Drawer 2 is nearly completely different. It will expect less of the player's skills and mostly guide them through a more linear environment with potential hazards along the way. Every Case-File in Drawer 2 is home to a new, exclusive location that focus's on story. The stories told in Drawer 2 also do not heavily rely on previous knowledge from Drawer 1.
The Ministry Of Order and the world that surrounds it is full of answers. It's all up to you on how far you are willing to go to find them.
What were YOUR favorite Case-Files? Let me know!
Update of July 27th
Today, Door To Door will be getting its last major content update.
This update includes:
1.) New Case-File; "Knew A Guy Once" Finale
2.) New Location; "Jazztown"
3.) New Location; "Tertiary"
4.) 4k Resolution support
It is with immense relief and excitement that I give you the end to Bixby and Stiggz's story inside the Ministry Of Order. Over the past two and a half years, the Lounge District became my second home. I'm really going to miss this place. Words cannot describe the satisfaction I have gotten from the chance to share this experience with you all.
Let's reflect... We've seen dogs with shoes, rode in a pie-mobile, been under the influence of low-frequency-corn-syrup, shut down a conspiracy installing machine, explored a galactic alien ministry, witnessed the downsides of show-business, was lifted into an enormous synth-tower, the list goes on. And now we're here, at the light of the end of the tunnel.
The past six plus months of thirty-day deadlines has really been an absolutely exhausting experience. And it is just about over.

The Origins of Door To Door
I'd like to share today the story of how Door To Door came to be. Where did the idea begin?
It all began in early 2014 when I was writing my 10th book titled "Please Hold For The Processor Man"; A story about an office worker named Benjamin Gallery whom was selected to work one of the most prestigious jobs going, set in an alternate, but parallel reality. This was of course just one of the examples the 1985 film 'Brazil' had influenced my work.
Within this story there is a part where Benjamin Gallery realizes what luxuries he has to his disposal. One of these luxuries would be a private movie theater. In this scene, Gallery would be watching a comedy oriented detective movie. The script is here:
Detective: “Well it seems, Mr. Banks, that Mary Summers was actually made of cantaloupe.”
Mr. Banks: “What am I gonna tell my kids!? Mary was our favorite nanny!”
Detective: “Well you won't tell them anything, because they're dead too.”
Mr. Banks: “My kids!”
Detective: “Now now, Mr. Banks, they weren't your kids, you see they never were... Hm, this is gonna be hard to say.”
Mr. Banks: “What- what, tell me, I can take it!”
Detective: “Your son and daughter, were part of the same gang you see?”
Mr. Banks: “Gang?”
Detective: “Yes... I'm afraid that your daughter Emily was actually made of strawberry jelly.”
Mr. Banks: “Heavens, no...”
Detective: “And your son, Tommy.”
Mr. Banks: “Tommy... Let me guess, his favorite fruit.”
Detective: “No, see they aren't cannibals Mr. Banks, they won't eat their own kind.”
Mr. Banks: “Then what, huh? What did my son become?”
Detective: “I'm afraid it's much worse... A vegetable.”
Mr. Banks: “Ah! Vegetable!”
Detective: “That's correct, Tommy was a sweet potato.”
That was it, just that. However, during writing of this scene, I had written in fact several of these detective scripts. I had a ton of fun writing them, laughing while I did it. The series was eventually named "Detective Whiskey Bingo In Risky City".
Eventually I began writing a game idea inspired by Please Hold For The Processor Man. It was originally tall, bland, black and white, etc. You would play an Agent from a mirror world trying to deliver a briefcase that would sabotage some big clock. Your character were to work for Ministry Of Time. It was planned strictly as a very linear exploration game.
The more I wrote it, the more I didn't like it. Although at this point I already began production on modular assets and initial level design, there felt to be so much missing. So what if I reversed the themes? Why not have the color in the foreground and the mystery in the background instead of vice-versa? Let's see where that goes. Let's see what happens when I introduce secrecy, conspiracy, comedy, etc.
I began adding more and more ingredients as the months went on and threw out several more. Detective Whiskey Bingo himself then became the glue to hold it all together. "Bingo" became "Bixby" one could say.
Door To Door began as a very drab, straight-forward world that is now fused with Jazz and neon. It was most certainly a development experience I'll never forget. I'm not gonna lie, a big part of it was listening to Nat King Cole with enough reverb to convey the atmosphere.
Let me know if you'd be interested in reading the other detective scripts. Who knows, maybe I'll release them publicly one day.
An Important Announcement on Door To Door
At the end of this month to early next month, Door To Door will be receiving its final STORY content update.
What does this mean exactly? Well, truth be told, Bixby and Stiggz' story will be wrapping up with a final Case-File aiming for a very special sixty-minute experience that reveals all. The player will explore two new locations, one from the past as well as another from the present.
What sort of updates would one expect after this? 4k resolution support, possible settings tweaks, final optimizations, first and foremost English subtitles(just to get things rolling). These updates will likely be unscheduled, but with an announcement to go with them.
Although not over just yet, Door To Door's development has been one absolutely incredible journey from beginning to end. Although it may not be everyone's cup of tea and had its rough beginnings, it was most certainly worth it to tell.
The Finale is still in its high-development stages, but it's coming along swimmingly. I eagerly look forward to the day you can all experience it!
Thank you and see you all soon!
"You've got to feel tall! You've got to feel free!... So very tall and so very free!" ~ Solomon Bixby
Update Of June 30th
Today, Door To Door will be getting an update.
This update includes:
1.) New Case-File to play; "The Synthman Cometh"
2.) New 'Undisclosed' location to explore
*PLEASE NOTE: Your screen will fade to black for a short time during this Case-File. This is normal, let it be.
*Regarding yesterday's post; This new Case-File "The Synthman Cometh" was tested until non-fail. There is a VERY small chance it may occur temperamental for a few players. In the rare case that this happens, I sincerely apologize in advance and will absolutely see what can be done about the issue soon.
Thanks for your patience and understanding!
Have fun!
Regarding the June Update
I'd like to take a few moments to inform the whereabouts and expectancy of this month's update. Where is it and when should you expect it?
Major content updates have mostly been consistent throughout each month, occurring at the ends of each month. This specific Case-File; "The Synthman Cometh", may arrive a few days late, possibly leaking a little while into the next month.
To give you a better idea on what has happened; there is quite literally a single bug that needs figuring out. This bug occurs toward the end of the approximate thirty-minute+ experience. This of course, is not acceptable to release. However, I can only test so much as an individual, so I will be needing to test this Case-File further to be completely sure.
When should you expect it? Soon. If there is not an additional post tonight or tomorrow announcing it, it will of leaked into this coming month of July.
This Case-File is an important factor in the game's story. It pains me to have that need to delay it further, but I will if I must.
Thank you all so much for sticking with Door To Door. I'm sure you'll be experiencing "Diabolical Jazz" really soon!

The Making Of; "The Synthman Cometh"
This far into the game, the player has seen several parts of, in and out of the Lounge District. They've even encountered a Ministry they were unaware even existed.
Creating “Ministry X” was a risk. It was visually out of the expected spectrum for the player. But one of the reasons it worked so well in production was because the characters had assumed familiarity, at least for the most part. This sort of thing can greatly pull back the player to a setting's tangibility when their first reaction to it feels staggering. A debrief with the Frequency-Police, a theory by an agent named Flint, a Pizzeria, etc. Those instruments were all new to the player, but their history had to feel as if previously engraved or impacted with the Ministry Of Order. This upcoming Case-File; “The Synthman Cometh”, may very well break this comfort again.
By now, the player has either invested or not invested in searching the Ministry for the biggest answers the world hasn't revealed just yet. Maybe they've read the History Machines, maybe they haven't. Maybe they've studied the propaganda, the playable radios or the other agents they've encountered, but maybe they haven't. Where actually are you? How did you get here? How important are you?
Door To Door's story since its inception has been about a very gray world trying to hide its smoke and lightening behind a very colorful and musical mask. “The Synthman Cometh” will escort you through some twisted thunder some players may have been looking for.
