New "Basic Cast Control" system is now live as a free update.
We are really excited to say that our new basic cast control system is now available as another free update.
We have seen that casting is the hottest topic in the community with people having a range of issues around our total cast control, from skill based problems through to frame rate issues. We are very proud of our total cast control system but hope that the basic cast control will deal with a lot of the issues people have been facing.
Basic cast control is a simple click of the right mouse button (or left trigger on Xbox) to enter the casting ‘state’, then you will see a power bar appear and hold down the left mouse button (or right trigger) to start filling the power bar. Simply release the button when you are happy but be careful not to go into the red zone as you will lose the accuracy of the cast! This casting method is designed to be a much simpler, hassle free system but it should really help users with low frame rates to be able to cast much more easily. In testing, we have managed to cast over 40 yards at 15 frames per second.
So, if you have experienced casting issues in the past then please give this update a go!
Full patch notes are as follows:
- Added a new casting mechanic which uses a power bar to cast.

- Fixed an issue where single player tournaments were not unlocked correctly
- Fixed an issue where the character was missing after catching a fish
- Fixed an issue where the timer was not working correctly in Time Trials
- Fixed an issue where the player could claim multiple pegs
- Fixed an issue where the host loses control of the Pause Menu functionality
- Fixed an issue where the game could freeze when playing Score Attack
- Fixed an issue where the character is seen teleporting across the lake in the tutorial outro cut scene
- Fixed an issue with the fish's movement in the "Fish-on" tutorial
- Fixed an issue where the cast prompt failed to appear
- Fixed an issue where the line clip was not reset after completing a challenge
- Fixed an issue where the user encountered a crash when using certain items in the tackle box
- Fixed an issue were you could control the rod with the right stick when using Basic Cast Control
- Fixed an issue where the bite alarm sound was not being played correctly
- Fixed an error with the bite alarm
- Fixed an issue where the player could not select the rod selection widget
- Fixed an issue where the player would lose control on the Main Menu if they pressed the right mouse button
- Fixed an issue where the profile stat for challenges and single player tournament completed increased every time the user viewed the profile page.
- Fixed an issue where the mouse cursor wasn't working correctly after tabbing out of the game or locking the PC
- Fixed an issue where the controller was not working on the character selection screen
- Fixed an issue where the mouse was not working on the character selection screen
- Fixed an issue where the mouse would no longer work if the user pressed the right mouse button on the main menu

Euro Fishing Feature Roadmap
• Basic Cast Control
This is being delivered imminently and will be an alternative casting system to our current Total Cast Control. As well as this, the game will be upgraded to the latest version of Unreal Engine 4 and there will be a host of bug fixes and performance improvements.
• New rods and tackle box
We will be adding some new Sonik rods from their 2016 range to the tackle shop. We will also be adding bread punch as a bait for float fishing and making some general improvements to the tackle shop.
• New netting experience
Based on your feedback and our views on the feature, we will be implementing a new netting sequence to improve the current experience.
• Rod Physics
We will be improving how different rods behave with some of our longer and heavier (higher test curve) rods being too bendy at present.
• Fish Behaviour
We are constantly tweaking our fish behaviour from the moment you arrive at the lake to landing your prized catch. Improvements include escape behaviour, frequency of bites and patrolling.
• Xbox One
Euro Fishing will be coming to Xbox One in May this year. The game will be identical to the PC version with all PC updates included in it.
• New Urban Lake
We are in the early stages of making our 6th lake which will be an urban venue located in Central Europe.
Euro Fishing League - March
Hello everyone,
Is it really March already?! It must mean that's it's time for the March league to kick off!
How this works:
•Each week we will be hosting 6 tournaments (one per week day plus one for the weekend)
•Winning (or ranking well) in a tournament gives you League points (see appendix below)
•Players accumulate League Points over the course of each month.
•League rankings will be published and updated in this thread.
•At the end of each month the Top 10 players get a tshirt for the Dovetail game of their choice (Euro Fishing, FSX:SE or Train simulator 16).
•At the end of each month the Top 25 players get a virtual trophy (more about this soon).
How to join our daily or weekend tournaments:
1.Launch Euro Fishing
2.Once in the main menu, click on “Live Tournament” (bottom left tile)
3.Click on the proposed tournament of your choice. Win conditions will be listed in the tournament description.

Save Information - Saved Profile
We have become aware of an issue a small minority of you are having in which you are losing your saved profile for an unknown reason. We are working hard to find a solution for this but replicating the bug is proving difficult.
We would be very grateful if anyone who has experienced this issue, could send us as much information on it as possible. This includes your machine specs and things like, did you notice anything strange before you logged out of your last session, had you unlocked any particular item or earned a particular achievement? Did you quit the game using the menu option or quit mid-save?

Basic Cast Control - Additional Casting System to be added.
Making the game accessible to players of all age and conditions has been an important discussion since the earliest days of Early Access, and we will soon be releasing – as promised – an alternative casting method.
This entirely optional new method will be based on a more traditional power bar and will exist in addition to the ‘Total Cast Control’ already in game, giving you the option to choose which method you use.
This new feature is part of our ongoing commitment to improve and expand Euro Fishing and is the first of several updates to be announced over the coming weeks.

Christmas Tournament Results
Our Christmas competition was held over two weeks on St John’s Lake to see who could catch the most weight of fish. Everyone had a maximum of 14 attempts with a one hour time limit per attempt. We were delighted to see so many of you take part with nearly 400 of you recording a weight, in the battle to be in the top 3 and earn the right to name some of our boss fish. The leaderboard continued to change with some incredible final weights achieved and we are now delighted to announce our top 3.
In third place is joschitier with a score of 3795.871 ! You have won the right to name a Roach Boss Fish on The Observatory Lake and an exclusive DTG Euro Fishing T-Shirt.
