  • The innkeeper in Ferropolis now also functions as a merchant like the other innkeepers in the game. As such, the player can now purchase and sell items when interacting with this NPC

CREATURE ISLAND, HARD MODE & MORE: THE FINAL UPDATE

Hello everyone!

Thank you all so much for supporting Dread Delusion over the years through early access and now post 1.0 release. Today, the team has their final content update for you all that they've been hard at work on over the last few months. We've got a really unique island to explore and the arrival of Hard Mode!

To celebrate this new update, Dread Delusion will be 20% for one week! There's never been a better time to explore the Oneiric Isles.

But we've got a lot to cover, so let's dive right in!



Creature Island



Legends tell of some Wikkans who built a castle inside of a cephalok's shell. Using your sky-faring airship, travel to this new expanse and discover the secrets held within.

  • Explore the innards of an ancient squid as you traverse through the Cephalok, a magical creature filled with rare materials.
  • Encounter new enemies, including the Dredgers, who have claimed the Cephalok as their home.
  • Acquire new powerful, late-game items.
  • Discover the mystery surrounding the Cephalok and why it's shown up in the Oneiric Isles.


Hard Mode



Along with Creature Island is a new challenge for veterans of the Oneiric Isles in the form of Hard Mode. In this mode, seasoned players will have to retool their playstyle for the increased challenge in Dread Delusion.

  • Enemies can take more punishment and deal more in turn. Players may also come across new groups and formations of foes across the isles.
  • Attacks will ask more of the players' resources, with strikes and incantations costing more mana and stamina.
  • Items and ingredients will be harder to come by, forcing players to plan and be more efficient in their adventures.


New Equipment



With a new frontier to explore, there's also new loot to be discovered. As you travel across the slimy interiors of the Cephelok, keep an eye out for new materials and equipment!

  • New airship components to further customize your flying vessel.
  • Shroom Weave Ore and Weapons to satiate your battle mage fantasies.
  • Temporal Pickaxe to make collecting mineral-based ingredients quicker.
  • A deviously challenging time trial to lavishly expand your airship.

  • Fixed a potential soft-lock in the "Missing Persons" quest
  • Fixed an issue where Lludd could potentially spawn inside of an object, leaving players to potentially miss the "Secrets and Spores" quest.
  • Fixed a potential soft-lock with the quest "Sky Pirate Caxton Frost"
  • Fixed an issue with NPC reactions after completing the quest "All Good Things"

    Changes in Hard Mode are as follows:

    • Increased enemy health by 50%
    • Increased enemy damage by 50%
    • Enemies respawn much faster
    • Stamina regenerates 20% slower.
    • Mana cost increased by 10%
    • Fatigue build-up increased by 25%
    • Potions must be bought or crafted. They no longer drop from enemies.
    • Enemy rare drop rates halved.
    • Herbs take an additional day to regrow.
    • Enemy placement has been changed.
    • Achievement added for beating the game in hard mode.
  • New Ore Type and Equipment: Shroomweave Ore and Weapons
  • New Side Quests

Miscellaneous:



  • Regular melee attacks, throwing knives/stars, and flechette spells no longer cause the enemy to stun (Normal & Hard Mode)
  • The time an enemy is stunned when using a charged strike has been reduced significantly (Normal & Hard Mode)
  • Some minor changes to enemy behavior and AI (Normal & Hard Mode)
  • The reputation window has been retooled to show player statistics during a playthrough
  • Changed the artwork for the Pass Time spell to better reflect how it works, lore-wise

  • Fixed an issue where the coin counter wouldn't update properly
  • Fixed an issue with the Auto-Serfs attacks not connecting with the player if they stood at a certain range
  • Fixed an issue with the Entombed One's camera
  • Fixed an issue where players could get potentially soft-locked in the Rotten Onions base
  • Fixed an issue where players could potentially get stuck inside the crystal ramp while traveling to the Erudite Academy

The team has been hard at work squashing bugs and making improvements to the game. Let's talk about it!


PERFORMANCE & OPTIMIZATION



Over the course of the game’s development and post-launch, the development team has worked towards optimizing Dread Delusion. Between the large-scale isles, bustling towns with eccentric characters, and hostile fauna, the game featured a wealth of content that made certain areas run less than stellar. With this latest update, you’ll find the Oneiric Isles to be a much smoother experience, performance-wise! We’re looking at a 30% increase across the board!


Patch Notes:


Performance:



  • Merged meshes throughout the game, significantly improving CPU usage and fixing FPS drops when entering new regions.
  • Adjusted lightning in the Underlands to increase performance.
  • Tweaked how the game handles loading in The City of Progress region, improving performance.

General Changes:



  • Some music tracks have been changed (Some areas were using an incorrect track)
  • Added visual feedback when the player fails a charm check with the Entice spell.
  • Added visual feedback so the player can tell when a critical cast was performed while wearing the Ring of Spellcraft.
  • Made several changes to some of the roaming NPCs outside of Sepulchre to help guide players and provide general information about the region.
  • Removed the mention of alchemy refining in Hallowshire.
  • A visual aid was added on Shipwreck Isle to help players dock their airships.
  • Added in a system that would teleport the player back to the tutorial island if they somehow skipped it.

Quest Bug Fixes:



  • Fixed an issue causing quests to disappear from the player's journal.
  • Fixed an issue during the "Whispers of Ghosts" that caused an important NPC to not spawn in the correct position.
  • Fixed an issue where the player could not turn in a particular quest if the players had already stolen fromVernon Berwig.
  • Made changes to the description in the "Madness of the King" quest to make it more clear what the player should be doing.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the player from turning in the "Damn Fine Tea" quest.
  • Fixed an issue where the caretaker wouldn't leave after completing the quest in Thornwood Manor.
  • Fixed an issue in the "Madness of the King" quest where the correct dialogue option was not showing up, preventing player progression.
  • Fixed an issue during the "Missing Persons" quest where quitting out would permanently lock a door required for progression.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Lludd to spawn inside a mushroom during the "Secrets and Spores" quest.
  • Fixed an issue where a key item wouldn't be removed from the players' inventory after turning in the "A Divine Captive" quest.
  • Fixed a UI issue during the Lost Purse quest.

  • Fixed an issue causing a low-LOD model near the Lost City dungeon to remain loaded in, preventing player passage back.
  • Fixed an issue causing the player to run through a staircase in the clockwork tower in Hallow Town.

  • Fixed an issue that was causing items in a hidden cave in Hallowshire to disappear when approaching them.

WHAT'S NEXT?


While the team continues bug fixing, they are also at work on a new CONTENT UPDATE that will be coming out next month. The two major parts of that update will be further improvements to the general combat, as well as a HARD MODE for players seeking more of a challenge.

  • Made some backend changes to improve overall performance in the game (This is part of an ongoing process towards improving performance.)

Balance Changes:



  • Bomb damage has been significantly increased (To the detriment of you and your enemies!)
  • Bow damage has been vastly increased to compensate for its slower attack speed
  • Enemies in late-game areas have been balanced properly to match player late-game stats
  • Increased strength scaling for all weapons
  • Increased magic damage scaling to match strength-based damage
  • Increased stamina damage to shielded enemies and reduced their stamina recovery rate to make breaking through their shield less tedious
  • Fixed some inconsistencies with a certain weapons damage output
