DEMO UPDATE + STEAM NEXT FEST

Steam Next Fest is just around the corner! So here's a new, polished version of Dreams in the Witch House demo for the event. And this time Linux Proton / Wine users can join the fun!

CHANGELOG 1.04

- Support for Linux Proton / Wine
- Halved the time progression speed when in real-time. Now one real-time minute is 30 minutes in game
- Stopwatch symbol now shows all the paused situations
- Made a story object in Joe's room easier to spot
- Joe can now have planks for the rat hole
- Starting Math skill now 1.0
- Added 1 portion of food to starting items
- Edited Character Bar descriptions for Coldness and Wetness to be more informative
- Changed Coffee House button text from "Lunch" to "Meal"
- Added a couple of new comments for Walter when interacting with certain items
- New save game slot now empty (no need to delete the previous text)
+ some minor fixes / adjustments

Save games from version 1.03 are compatible, except some of the timers (Hunger, Tiredness etc...) will be reseted to zero. It shouldn't cause a noticeable impact. If you prefer to use the previous 1.03 version, you can enable it in Steam library: Properties -> Betas -> 1.03

Thanks & have a great weekend!

DEMO OUT NOW!

It's beyond exciting (and a bit terrifying) to finally get to share Dreams in the Witch House with you!

The demo features the first 10 days of the game and explains the mechanics and the setting. The first playthrough takes around 2 hours. The demo also serves as a good practice run for the full game.

Explore the city of Arkham, study for your exams or work on your occult theory, it's up to you what you do with your time. But beware, and prepare: evil forces are afoot.

Have fun!

PS. If you enjoy the demo, please wishlist the game (if you haven't already done so)!

STEAM NEXT FEST & DEMO

Hello!

Dreams in the Witch House will be participating in the Steam Next Fest, starting June 13th.
That means there will be a demo out in one month!

The demo will feature first ten days of the game, and showcase the game mechanics and the setting. Expected duration is around 1 hour or more.

Ok, now back to building the demo. Have a great Friday the 13th!

CURRENT STATUS OF THE GAME

Hello!

A quick look at the current status of Dreams in the Witch House. Here's my rough estimates:

Music 100 %
Locations 99 %
Animations 95 %
Coding 90 %
Sound effects 80 %

As you can see, it is in a good way. But because the game is nonlinear and Walter's actions have a big impact on how the story plays, play testing and bug fixing is a slow and arduous process. However, brave testers have been playing it already for several years! While it has cost them their sanity, the game is now standing on a solid foundation.

Bye for now & have a great weekend! Here's a screenshot of Walter calming his nerves, and having a nice cup of coffee. I'm going to do the same.

And stay safe, May-Eve is approaching...

INTRODUCTION & NEW SCREENSHOT

Hi everyone!

I'm Antti, the solo developer of Dreams in the Witch House, and the person behind Atom Brain Games.

Dreams in the Witch House is my passion project, and I've been working on it over six years now.
It's beyond exciting to see the game coming together, and to share it with you!

Obviously, I'm a big Lovecraft fan. While "The Dreams in the Witch House" isn't Lovecraft's most famous story, I believe it's a perfect setting for an open world adventure game. My goal is to make the players feel like they are inside the story, making decisions and choosing their own approach.

If you haven't read the story, and don't know what I'm talking about, that's okay too! No extra knowledge is required to enjoy the game.

Ok, enough talk! Here's a previously unpublished screenshot from the game. Can you guess the location?

I'll be happy to answer all your questions about the game, and I'll try to post some updates too!

Take care,

Antti
