This is our last planned major update for the rest of the year. Our team is dedicated to finishing development by the end of December. We thank everyone who participated in providing feedback. Starting in January we will be adding Steam features and preparing for an official release!
Latest changes in this update:
Chroma device support has been added. Currently MTRD and Urban Metaphor have been synced to light up with player weapons. We are excited to offer a more immersive experience. Let us know what you think!
Level select Nexus now has icons and effects to help show progression. As new levels are unlocked, icons have been added to help clarify which new level is now available. A glow effect around levels now activates when new difficulty modes are available. These are very rough and will be updated in future updates.
On a few levels that contain multiple paths to unlock levels, we have added some portals to help facilitate where your ship should be. The only exception being Break It Up, as choosing your team color dictates the outcome.
Fixed the player ship moving off of the screen.
Known bugs:
Linux - DO NOT BUY YET. Adding this option has caused more complication than we anticipated. It does work on our machines, but have reports from others that either levels will not load or enemies will not spawn. Ubuntu has shown the most success, so far. We have decided to focus on finishing development of DubWars and will revisit Linux versions in January.
Upcoming:
Achievements & Objectives - level and game wide challenges will be added with accompanying ship bonuses.
Ship Hangar - Ships will be earned and unlocked through achievements.
Leaderboards - Compare scores with friends and enemies.
DubWars v0.3.2 is live
Thank you for all the recent comments and reviews! We are very pleased with the wonderful reception to the September update, along with the engaged feedback on squashing bugs.
Latest changes in this update:
Gameplay changes throughout all 10 levels - Most notably on Choose Your Weapon (more challenging) and Distorted (enemies will actually die now). The rest of the levels have a better balance of enemy health to player weapon damage. We implemented a base system that will allow for better refinement over time.
New Menu System Design - We received a lot of comments on the previous layout. So we cleaned it up, with the biggest improvement being the weapons upgrade system. Now you can upgrade entire weapon groups and the weapon icons are more clear to help understand what you are upgrading.
MTRD - Fixed one of the stream weapons that was acting up after upgrading.
Eclipse - The baby spiders are now moving towards the player appropriately. This allows for easier dodging of those enemies.
Choose Your Weapon - Improved the visibility on the ice shards. These will slow your ship speed. So you should have an easier time seeing them now.
Metalworks - Scan beam weapon is now working properly. It will pull in sound currency to your ship and also deal some damage to enemies.
Break It Up - Fixed an issue of switching teams when using Play Again and not being able to destroy enemies.
Menu system is more controller friendly.
Fixed an issue in some levels where your ship would not die.
Known bugs:
Linux - DO NOT BUY YET. We are still working on why the levels will not load. Plan to have a working build included in the next update.
For some levels, the player ship is moving off screen. The enemies are very good at hide and seek and will still find you. Still working on this feature.
Unlocking levels is not very clear. Hovering over certain landmarks upon completing some levels will unlock other levels. We will be adding some visual queues at the end of those levels for assistance. Still working on this feature.
Upcoming:
Achievements & Objectives - level and game wide challenges will be added with accompanying ship bonuses.
Ship Hangar - Ships will be earned and unlocked through achievements.
Leaderboards - Compare scores with friends and enemies.
DubWars v0.3.1 Hotfix
Fixed an issue where levels were not loading properly.
DubWars v0.3.0 now available
We are excited to bring a solid base foundation of DubWars to everyone.
All 10 levels are here to stay and feature Easy, Medium, and Hard Difficulties.
New health system.
Urban Metaphor - New art and fixed the wasps dash movement issues.
Synergy - Completely revamped. After attending EDC this year we wanted to bring a much more impressive stage design.
Break It Up - New art and gameplay. If you can beat easy please send a screen shot so we know it is possible.
Eclipse - Jeffrey and Dillon are now in the level, but they have been captured and imprisoned within special asteroids. Rescuing them is your top priority, for bonus points…uh we mean for justice!
Revised the Zombie enemy, both art design and movement.
Tough Guy - New art and gameplay. Improvements to enemy behavior.
Metalworks - New art, player weapons and gameplay. Improvements to enemy behavior.
Leviathan - New art and gameplay.
Distorted - Now playable. I hope you are not afraid of clowns…
Choose Your Weapon - Now playable. Harness the power of 4 different elemental weapons.
MTRD - New art, player weapons and gameplay.
Known bugs:
Linux - DO NOT BUY YET. We are still working on why the levels will not load. Hang tight until we can get a solution working. The game is available on Mac and PC, you can play it on those platforms for now.
When using a gamepad controller in the weapons upgrade screen, you are not able to scroll down to the additional selections. For now, you will need to use the mouse or keyboard.
Break It Up - If you die and use Play Again and change teams, some of the enemies are not spawning correctly. If you exit to the main menu and re-enter the level, it will work properly.
For some levels, the player ship is moving off screen. The enemies are very good at hide and seek and will still find you.
Unlocking levels is not very clear. Hovering over certain landmarks upon completing some levels will unlock other levels. We will be adding some visual queues at the end of those levels for assistance.
MTRD - One of the stream weapons upon upgrade decides to fire all instances of itself. Currently looking into the cause.
Upcoming:
Achievements - level and game wide challenges will be added with accompanying ship bonuses.
Ship Hangar - Ships will be earned and unlocked through achievements.
Leaderboards - Compare scores with friends and enemies.
Progress on Metalworks, Synergy, MTRD, and Choose Your Weapon
For Metalworks, we want you to feel the heat and intensity of the factory.
As for Synergy, we have updated the level and are working to tone down the background flashing.
For MTRD we decided to darken everything up which helps the enemies and weapons pop.
During the song it says "Choose Your Weapon" and depending on what elemental section you are over it changes your primary weapon during the drop.
If you visit www.dubwars.com you can see a video of Choose Your Weapon in action and changes to MTRD.

Upcoming Game Update On March 9th – An Apology – And Looking To The Future
This update will include a new level, multiple bug fixes, effects improvements, some of the levels that we’ve all been waiting to come back, and much more. Below is the concept art for the new level that will be released.
Also, we’d like to make a formal apology for our poor communication and what some have interpreted as a lack of caring. We’re committed to change this from here on out. We love DubWars, and we are trying to make it amazing.
We want you to know that your value to us as customers, fellow gamers, and music lovers is immeasurable; we are so grateful for your feedback and continued support. We’re a small team (6) and have experienced some serious setbacks along the way that weren’t shared publicly, there have been game updates that shouldn’t have been, well...released, and all-in-all reasons behind the “madness”. Fortunately, we’ve made it through and are back on track.
Excuses aside, the team is working furiously to create something we can be proud of, and most importantly, something that you’ll love to play. We’re committed to DubWars, and we’re committed to you, thanks for believing in us.
In short…exciting things are coming, sorry we sucked, and please forgive us; we’re going to make it up to you.

Now Featuring Minesweepa - Leviathan
Our latest update brings new music into the mix. The song has built in underwater sounds and was very fun to work with. Here you can also get a better look at the new art and effects style. Still plenty of work to do for polish, including making the background elements animated again.
This build includes 5 levels:
Omnivore - Urban Metaphor, Official Spock - Break It Up, MinecraftUniverse - Eclipse, Celldweller - Tough Guy (remix by Tim Ismag), and Minesweeper - Leviathan.
Dubsective - Synergy is getting an overhaul and being reworked. Between comments and internal testing we felt the level can be much better.
The main menu system is coming together. This update has new art for the level selection. We have modified the gameplay and worked on making some of the enemy attacks more readable.
Our Facebook page is now just /dubwars not /dubwarsgame. So if you are getting a broken link, we are still here.
We have incorporated a built in feedback option to help streamline comments, bug reports and suggestions. Thanks to everyone that continues to provide us with feedback.
