October Boss Battles
Hey Duelysts, Boss Battles are back! This time, we’re giving you a heads up on the whole month, so you can plan your decks ahead of time. For the month of October 2018, here are the Boss Battles to steel yourselves for:
OCTOBER 2018 BOSS BATTLE SCHEDULE
10/4 – 10/9: BOREAL JUGGERNAUT
Enter the domain of the Boreal Juggernaut and test your strength against his!
10/11 – 10/16: UMBRA
From the shadows comes a twisted visage. Enter an alternate dimension where Umbra warps light and shadow to create imperfect reflections of life.
10/18 – 10/23: CADE THE DESOLATOR
Hordes of Desolators gasp in awe, for from their gaunt and bony kind, a champion has risen. Cade’s current incarnation has lived long enough to build a body that no longer fears death. He has mastered the ways of war through countless battles.
10/25 – 10/30: UNHALLOWED
The Unhallowed has risen from the grave with a dark design to curse all of Mythron. Not all of her tricks are devious, though. If luck is on your side, some of her twisted malcontents might even hold a treat.
ABOUT BOSS BATTLES
Duelyst Boss Battles are weekly in-game events where players can fight bosses for rewards. The events start each Thursday at 2:00 PM PDT and last until the following Sunday at 2:00 PM PDT. Each boss varies in difficulty but in general, players can expect to win against them using basic and common cards, along with skill and luck. Since these are PvE battles, there is no time limit to fight against them. Each win against a boss yields a free Boss Crate and a Core Orb.
Jump into Duelyst and experience the fun! Duelyst is free-to-play and Boss Battles are a great way to get free rewards just for playing the game. We hope you’ll join us!
Duelyst Patch 1.96
Duelyst Patch 1.96 is expected to deploy later on May 22nd, 2018
Rotation and Queue Updates
When we released the Trials of Mythron expansion, we introduced two formats into the game (Standard and Unlimited). While our hopes and ambitions were aimed at expanding the diversity in Duelyst, your actions as players speak the loudest. The number of games played in Unlimited (compared to Standard) was staggering! As such, we want to tailor Duelyst to what's most popular for our players. With this patch we will be removing the concept of rotations and unifying the online matchmaking system to what is currently known as "Unlimited." In other words, everyone can play with their full collection instead of having to restrict their decklists to certain sets.
Coupled with this change, we will also merge the two constructed queues together. Some of the common complaints from our social platforms came from the mismatched rankings in Casual or the prolonged queue times in Ranked. Without the different formats in place, we have no strong reason to maintain two different queues and will reunite them into one "Ranked Ladder Queue." These changes should address both the occasional prolonged wait times while maintaining the fun aspect of fighting your peers.
Balance Updates
As many of our former Unlimited players know, there are some frightening and powerful card combinations that exist from accessing both Trials of Mythron and Denizens of Shim'Zar.
Since we are reintroducing the Denizens of Shim'Zar expansion back into the fold, we found a unique opportunity to do a wide sweep of changes.
LYONAR KINGDOMS
SONGHAI EMPIRE
VETRUVIAN IMPERIUM
ABYSSIAN HOST

Boss Battles Updates - Introducing Bloodbound Spells
We're excited to introduce a new feature for our Boss Battles, the introduction of Bloodbound Spells!
Each Boss is now associated with a specific elemental spell that will help them control the battlefield.
These spells are aimed to patch up weaknesses in a boss fight and thus provide either much-needed utility or removal.
So load up your Sarlacs, protect that backline of Grow or Ranged minions and get ready for a whole new challenge of fights!

Duelyst Tournament Update
Hey Duelyst Fans,
It's time for a tournament update! Last week we announced that we were partnering up with the fine folks at Battlefy to be our exclusive platform for competitive play.
Let's take a moment to discuss what that means for Duelyst.
Creating Tournaments
Are you an aspiring tournament organizer with a really cool tournament idea? Do you have an idea for an event that would get your fellow players pumped to play? Or simply have no clue how to start and host your own tournament?
Don't fret, our partners at Battlefy have hooked you up with a super user-friendly submission form, tailored just for Duelyst!
Visit their Create-A-Tournament page and follow the steps to completion to create your event. If you still have questions, they also have a helpful guide to set up your event with free community prizing.
"Did they just say free prizing?"
That's correct! Any events that are approved by Battlefy will be supported with official Duelyst prizing. We have a ton of prizes ready to be given out, all you have to do is make a tournament event!
Participating in Tournaments
What about the other side of the coin, playing in tournaments?
We're happy to announce that we'll be supporting two different veins of tournaments, Hardcore and Casual.
CASUAL
Casual tournaments are aimed towards newer players and fun formats. These events are restricted to players ranked Gold and below to ensure that you have a fun time playing with your peers.
Whether you're an aspiring top-tier tournament player or a newcomer looking to make a few friends, this is your avenue to grow! As shown above, the rewards here are focused on Orbs to help expand that collection while you refine your skills to take on the best of the best.
HARDCORE
Hardcore tournaments are your traditional competitive events aimed to show off the best Duelyst has to offer. Anyone is welcome to join, but newcomers beware, this is where Diamond and S-Ranked players come to test their mettle.
There are various rewards based on the tier of the tournament being played, all of them containing cosmetic rewards. We know that the players who join these tournaments already have their best decks assembled and their skills and strategies fine-tuned, the only thing left to earn is the cool cosmetics and most importantly, the recognition of being the best!
Practice your matches and clean up your decks, this open event will feature different prizes such as tournament skins, keychains, and plushies.
We're super excited about this opportunity and can't wait to see our competitive scene grow and flourish - so join a tournament today!
Hotfix for Patch 1.95
Hey Duelyst fans
We have a hotfix for some of the bugs you guys reported last week.
Our first priority was to fix an issue where Trial progress would reset after canceling a multi-click event. With this hotfix, this issue has been fixed!
Since Trials are a keystone to our latest expansion, we wanted to deliver this hotfix as soon as possible while we continue to monitor and address other issues.
While we were looking at other bug reports, we also made some changes to how the system looks at card values.
Cards such as Auroara and Grand Strategos will now proc off of a minions BASE attack value (so Zealed Silverguard Knights and Decorated Enlistees will now count!)
As part of these adjustments, we're also increasing the Trial count for Grand Strategos from "Summon 10" to "Summon 12 minions with 1 or less Attack."
Once again, this hotfix was aimed to quickly address the Trials bug so everyone could get back to playing. We still have more on our list and appreciate everyone's support and patience.
Items still on our list to address:
Patch 1.95 - Trials of Mythron!

Each of the links above takes you to an in-depth article to help guide you through the next set.
Finally, we're running an extended Bonus Diamond sale starting today until Monday, April 2nd as a duo Easter/Expansion celebration!
If you're looking to stock up on Diamonds for this new expansion, now is your chance to get more for less!
Core Set Changes, Set Rotations & Game Modes
With this patch we'll be implementing our card rotation. There's a lot to cover about set rotations, so please read our article covering the card changes.
With the introduction of Trials of Mythron, we will be rotating out the Denizens of Shim'Zar expansion.
As we move into our first rotation, the current Ranked Ladder and Gauntlet game modes will fall under the Standard format.
The Standard format clamps a game mode to using only Core cards and Expansions released in within the last two years.
In addition to our Standard format, we will also be featuring a new game format called Unlimited.
Unlimited will allow you to play with all Duelyst cards in existence and will have its own separate casual queue.
Since we are introducing new formats, we have an update on a few card mechanics as well.
In addition to these changes, we'll also be celebrating the birth of our new Unlimited format!
There's an Unlimited Quest that will run all through April - play 7 games in Unlimited, receive 5 Shim'Zar orbs!
Cosmetic Store Changes
We noticed a particular trend amongst fans in the past few months - you guys really love our 50% sales!
Noticing this, we're prepared to make some pretty exciting changes to our store to reflect the things our fans have grown to love.
Starting with this patch, all cosmetic items in the store will have their prices reduced by 50% - permanently!
We will still have our weekend sales in addition to these changes to continuing spread the love of Duelyst cosmetics.
One thing you may have noticed is that this drastically affects the value of the Cosmetic Crates in the game.
We have consistently heard the feedback on our chests and have been planning on making some adjustments to make them feel better.
After giving it much thought, we have decided to make Cosmetic Crates free to open!
Any crates you have sitting in your inventory will no longer need keys to open; anywhere you could previously earn a key will also award a crate.
Boss Crates are going a similar metamorphosis - they will also become free to open but will now contain different items.
All these changes are directed to adding more free content to your weekly Duelyst sessions!
We're all really excited to start this new year of Duelyst with all our favorite fans, and hope you guys enjoy the changes coming in with Trials of Mythron!
Trial and Destiny
New Mechanic - Trial and Destiny!
Hey Duelyst fans! We have one more mechanic coming out with Trials of Mythron: Trial and Destiny.
Trialand Destiny is a paired keyword mechanic that will be featured on a brand new card rarity: Mythron Rarity!
We have a lot to cover, so settle in as we discuss the new rarity and then follow up with the new mechanic.
Mythron Rarity
We have a new shiny rarity being introduced with Trials of Mythron - the Mythron Rarity!
These are bonus cards you can obtain from opening Trials of Mythron packs. Much like the Seven Sisters, these cards are added to your collection after accomplishing a feat - you can obtain all Mythron cards from the Trials of Mythron set for free!
After opening your first Trial of Mythron orb (and every 10 orbs afterward) you will receive an additional Mythron card from this set directly into your inventory. You cannot obtain a Mythron card you already have, and once you have obtained all 7 they will no longer drop.
In other words, you'll get a free Mythron card when you open 1, 11, 21, 31, etc until you have collected all seven, with the option to craft any of those you want immediately. There are only seven orb-opening-achievements, so you'll complete them after opening 61 Trials of Mythron orbs.
This rarity also features some unique rules!
Trial and Destiny
The new mechanic Trial and Destiny is a paired mechanic, meaning there are two components to these cards.
The first part is the Trial condition - this describes an objective that must be met before you can play the card. Until the Trial has been met, the card cannot be played.
Once the Trial has been satisfied, the card is now unlocked and can be played for its Destiny. The effect mentioned under Destiny is a permanent augment to your match for the entire duration of the game.
There are other notes for Trial and Destiny!
Now that you've caught up, we'll be showcasing one of these cards for the remainder of this spoiler season week. We're all very excited to bring forth this new content to the world of Duelyst and can't wait to see how you guys will shape the game with the new Trial and Destiny cards!
Upcoming Mechanic - Intensify
New Mechanic - Intensify!
Hey Duelyst fans! We have a brand new mechanic coming out with the next expansion: Intensify.
Intensify is a keyword that will appear on Minions and Spells granting them a powerful stacking effect. These cards become more powerful each time you cast them for the duration of the game.
Still confused? Let's look at some examples.
Lyonar's Bolster will grant your friendly minions +2 Health the first time you play Bolster. When you cast it a second time, all friendly minions will gain +4 Health. Upon casting Bolster a third time, your minions would gain +6 Health. Did you manage to get a fifth copy? Well, then that fifth cast will make all your friendly minions gain +10 Health.
When you first play the Abyssian Bonecrusher, it will enter the field as a 5/3. If you play Bonecrusher a second time, you'll now have a mighty 10/3.
Intensify keeps track of the number of times the card has hit the battlefield, which means if you've revived a minion or clone/duplicated an Intensify card in some manner, the effects keep stacking! If you somehow manage to play/revive Bonecrusher 7 times in one game, that 7th spawn will show up as a 35/3!
Now that you've learned how this mechanic works, get ready for an intense week of spoilers!
